Age and Beyond by Dan Donahue
Unsure what's happening in this collage but I like it.
RIP Bobby Weir
I took this vid up in Sisters, OR at Hoodoo on Sep 10 2022. Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros were doing a benefit concert for Oregon Adaptive Sports.
This was my first time seeing any member of the Grateful Dead live. I could probably go on and on about the show and how I "discovered" them but won't. I'll just leave this little 30 sec clip that captures a little jam.
A one of a kind moment (which there were many at this show) that's a great example of a ton of things but 2 off the top of my head: Bobby still has got the fire in him and live, improvised music is peak human. I chase these types of moments.
Thanks Bobby for letting me catch this one.

when there is no desire, all things are at peace
---
sometimes I have no desires: not having the desire to work, to consume. I instead, just be. then, by the wisdom of the tao, i would be at peace. but when i feel these moments of non desire, i feel guilty. like i'm not contributing to society, to the economy. i feel guilty for not being a cog in this machine.
if i have enough, and i most certainly do, why do i have the desires? are all desires bad? probably the ones outside of my control. the desires of making and creating are good. the desires of greed for ego boosting and status is bad.
---
if nobody in the world had desires, we would indeed be at peace. all of our desires compound upon each other. chain reactions. thats why the world is so complex.
i think about "simpletons". not in the know of the latest trends, probably not making 6-figures. just putzing around, content with what they have. people look down on them and think why aren't they more ambitious? why aren't they trying to make a dent in the universe? these people dont want or need more, more, more.
if people dont have the same desires, conflict arises. this is why communication is so important. it creates, at least for a moment, peace.
this is why i always will give the benefit of the doubt of a person in my life if there's conflict between us because our desires are not aligned and if we haven't had that conversation yet. and most people don't know how to have these types of conversations. so more conflict arises and its a cycle.
