Heartwarming story: Little girl doesn’t have to do anything to fund her dad’s surgery because his expenses are covered by his country’s universal healthcare.
Human determination: Man bikes 18 miles to work every morning because he wants to and not because he can’t afford a car and would be fired if he’s late.
Spirit of Brotherhood: Neighbors host housewarming party for elderly resident who doesn’t need help in paying rent because his pension is more than enough.
SO INSPIRING: Local middle school students bake dozens of cupcakes because their home economics class is doing a baking unit. Their school is fully funded with everything they need.
This feels like calibrating my normal detector
It doesn't have to be this way.
Carl Sagan: Kid asks, "Mommy, why is the grass green?" and very often you get an answer like, "Oh, don't ask dumb questions," or, "Who knows?" When in fact it's an extremely profound question. And how much better--
Johnny Carson: Or, "Why is the sky blue?" or anything like that.
Sagan: In both those cases, it goes to the fundamentals, in one case, of biology, and the other, of a kind of physics. How much better it would be to say to the child, "That's a good question, Johnny, I don't know the answer. Maybe we can look it up." Or, "Nobody knows, maybe when you grow up, you'll be the person to find out."
I think kids who are discouraged from asking those questions wind up learning the lesson that there's something bad about using the mind. And we lose resources and we need those intellectual resources because we are in very perilous times. And I think the complex and subtle problems that we face can only have complex and subtle solutions. And we need people able to think complex and subtle thoughts. And I believe a great many children have that capability, if only they're encouraged.
A couple of years ago we were all terribly concerned about the fact that a lot of American high schools are assigning such crushing homework loads that some kids literally don't have enough time to eat or sleep (and all this in spite of the fact that there's no good evidence that assigning homework actually improves academic outcomes at the pre-university level), but now we're hearing stories about those same schools struggling to stop kids from using ChatGPT to write their essays and suddenly It's The Children Who Are Wrong. Like, do you think maybe there's a certain level of cause and effect in play here?
Except the states and municipalities can’t afford to properly fund it on their own and the red states don’t even try. Trump falsely says America is at the bottom of the barrel in education. Well here’s something easy to look up, Red States are at the bottom of the barrel.
All this money they’re going to have after canceling the entire government is going to be given to billionaires and corporations. All of your hard earned money is going to be given as a gift to those who don’t need it.
They should roll this murdering bastard into a volcano or place him under a SpaceX rocket before take off.

Best two minutes you’ll have today. Highly recommend. You’re welcome.

The former president ran through one over-the-top lie after another lie, shouting his way through most of it.
Apparently, people are out there just eating cats and stuff? Harris' reactions to Trump at the debate launch memes
Republicans who've sworn off former President Donald Trump think he was on the receiving end of a "beatdown" on the debate stage Tuesday nig
"Harris lit him up and melted his orange face paint like the Nazis in Indiana Jones," the Lincoln Project, which bills itself as a leading pro-democracy organization, said in a statement following the debate. "He's f-----."
