Hi, its been quite awhile, huh? I know I havenāt posted in quiteĀ awhileĀ or answered any messages and Iām SUPER sorry. In general I havenāt really been drawing digitally minus a fewĀ personal commissions
Iām open for publicĀ requests or commissions now so if youāre still here, feel free to hit me up!
(Also yes Iām a narcissist and came back to thus blog with a self portrait)

reblog to save a life
Iām sure Iāve reblogged this before, but yeah. Everyone should know about it.Ā
this is useful people, reblog to save an artist
I redid an old drawing I posted on here about my boyfriend (whom is long distance) and its crazy to see how much better I got on the drawing pad in six months!
iāve been bingingĀ leafyishere and OH LORD MY PRECIOUS PINECONE
I regret drawing this immensely
Never blame your fans
I know many of you artists - whether you draw, write, or compose - are frustrated that your original work, especially your dream projects, arenāt getting the responses you were hoping for.
I feel the same way.
But some of you express your frustrations completely destructively and blame the world for not giving you the spotlight.
When you do that, youāre blaming your problems for existing rather than adjusting and compromising to solve them. Youāre making excuses for your mistakes. Youāre demanding the world to change but you are not willing to change with it.
This is the perfect mindset to NEVER succeed in anything, ever.
You need to accept some basic truths of art before you can go any further:
Your art should teach you as much as or more than it teaches others: If you claim your art opens horizons and widens minds, yours should be the first priority. You cannot speak without listening. You are not a righteous prophet enlightening the heathens with the true word. You are one humble person and your art is one humble personās story.
There are no new stories, but there are always new storytellers. That amazing idea you have that nobodyās ever thought of before? Someone has. But nobody has told the story your way, or drawn the character your way, or sung the song your way. Art is not about being new. It is about being you.
Popular art is all about the beholder. All these shows and games with so much fan art? They got to that level because they command a personal investment from and serve the viewer - they have worlds their fans want to be part of, and your canon will be swept aside along the way.Ā You the artist are not a god or a wise sage. You are a guide and a footman. To be an artist is to be humanityās servant, not its lord - and thereās no shame in that.
Most of your fans are not artists or art critics. While there will be a good number of them in your fanbase, the vast majority are not going to be super-open-minded creative thinkers who value every single opinion, outlook, and story just because itās done technically well. They will be ordinary peopleĀ with ordinary, selfish interests, and they will care about your content more than your talent. You have to balance what you want to draw with what everyone wants to see.
But the most important part of being an artist or really a person at all is to understand this:
Nobody owes you success.
Nobody is under any obligation to pay anything you produce a second glance or support or promote it in any way.
Nobody is spiting or robbing youĀ by not giving you a like or a reblog or a follow.
Every single gesture of appreciation you receive from someone is a courtesy - a gift that you earn, not a right youāre entitled to.
It is not the job of your audience to love your work. It is your job to make it lovable. And just because you are working really hard does not mean you are working in the right direction.
I know that thousands upon thousands of artists put hours or months or years into a project and feel like they get nothing in return. Sometimes it is not how hard youāre working but what youāre working for that is the problem.Ā
Sometimes you need to slow down and think, āDo I haveĀ to have this just so? What would the kind of person interested in my work be looking for, and where can I address it? Am I maybe taking myself and my work a little too seriously?āĀ
And a lot of artists donāt realize that as an amateur, you are the sole proprietor -Ā you are your art. Whether people like you determines whether they like your art.
And thatās why when you blame everybody else and post ungrateful, catty garbage like this:
⦠you donāt subsequently become the next Toby Fox.
The simple fact is that people will pay you attention if they think your offering + your hassle are worth their attention.
You need to create a world that someone other than you will have fun inĀ and you need to be a good host to everyone who visits.Ā
You need a world that willĀ welcome your fans with open arms.
You need to build a world people can live & play in.
And you and your world need toĀ appreciate your fans just for showing up.
Because this is exactly what the big fish do.
because they spread your work around to more people without shanking you on credit and who gets the likes
because they make your work show up sooner & more often on searches and are simply a nice gesture
because they take time out and pay good money to listen to your story and make you from a pauper into a prince
because if you appreciate no one, no one will appreciate you, nor should they

Someone sent me some mean ass message being like āwhy don't you ever connect your lines? lolĀ you cant drawā If I wanted to connect my lines.... I would. You know why I don't? I have a style.
For commissions and other works of art ive sold, I connected the lines, for my own personal enjoyment?? I don't.
Please, don't be an asshat, its my art, not yours.
I have been binging AHS and restarted the fire in my heart for Violetās weird boho style
yes I made a new icon and my hair is blue
āMaybe iāll be okay todayā
Did a small study of myĀ biggest inspirationĀ (āį“āāæ)
Honestly fuck those hackers āā©ā(āā”<)āā©ā
Iām tired of getting these stupid offers to work on peopleāsĀ āpassion projectsā for free, usually with the promise of compensation when/if the project takes off. Guess what? I donāt care that youāre passionate about it, I care if youāre competent. When you knock on my door asking for free work, its a clear sign that you arenāt. You might have hopes that your project hits it big and that youāll eventually get rich off of it, but if you REALLY believed in it, I feel like youād be more willing to put your own livelihood on the line instead of asking an artist to do it for you. If I do a bunch of free work hoping itāll pay off, Iām not doing other work that could actually feed me and pay my bills. And what happens when the project doesnāt get funded or some important factor blows up or everyone decides to quit out early? I get screwed. So, no. I donāt want to work on your passion project. Not unless I get paid up front.
Not my art - but oh man. Yes. This whole thing yes. Also, in advance: I charge my professional freelance rates on every project. Itās expensive. Deal with it. And no, I never have a shortage of work, as all the unpaid projects eating up my time are the ones Iām doing for myself that are putting me in debt. Because I believe in them.
Also artists, for the love of god demand pay for your work! And not pay later, pay NOW, especially if youāve never worked with the person before. Make contracts. You can get exposure by yourself. If someoneās not willing to pay you and youāre out of work, do a personal project. Youāll get JUST as much money that way and be much more personally fulfilled, and be bringing your dreams and ideas to life instead of someone elseās.
New icon!! Just a simple self portrait
I love the new Jubilee designĀ but āX-men the animated seriesāĀ Jube has my heart
COPIC MARKER GIVEAWAY
Alright, so I bought all these Copics when I was in Japan years ago and have never, ever used them, so I thought someone else could treat them better.
All the Cool Greys (C0-C8) are Broad and Fine, and just about all the rest are Copic Sketch. You can see from the picture thereās a good range of color. I picked them all out according to a marker guide to get the most bang for my buck. Thereās also two colorless blenders in there which are very slightly used.Ā Case / box isnāt included.Ā Altogether there are about 90-95 markers (they were hard to count in just like this and Iām not taking the time to count exactly. count the photo if you want.)
LIKE OR REBLOG THIS UNTIL JUNE 15TH FOR A CHANCE TO WIN. No follow necessary.
a note on shipping: Iām in the USA, if the cost is manageable (under $20) to outside the US, Iāll do my best to cover it, but if itās a high cost, I might ask you to kick me a few $ to cover it. weāll see.Ā
