Prayer 758, Ash Wednesday
Most Holy God, we humbly come before You, seeking pardon and reconciliation from You and all whom we have wronged. Mark us as your own today, O God, we pray, that we may remember our covenant of devotion with You and each other. We open our hearts to You: refine and purify us, that we may be filled with compassion and humility. We open our minds to You: refine and purify us, that we may be filled with your wisdom and truth. We open our souls to You: refine and purify us, that your Spirit may live within us always and guide us to new life and hope. May we focus all our efforts on building your kingdom and living out your Word, Almighty Ruler. Hear the prayers, thanksgivings, and supplications of your people, Gracious One, especially those we now name.
Amen.
It is necessary not merely to pray but also to pray as we ought and to pray what we ought.
-- Origen, On Prayer

'Not In Bible' Shout Mars Woman's Consecration
The Church of England - with the exception of a single protester - welcomes its first female bishop Libby Lane.
The consecration of the Church of England’s first woman bishop was met with a lone voice of protest at York Minister.
The Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, asked the congregation of nearly 2,000 whether it was “now your will that she should be ordained?”
Most shouted: “It is”. But one man stood and called out: “No, it’s not in the bible”.
"With respect, Your Grace, I ask to speak on this absolute impediment, please," he continued.
Despite the interruption, the consecration of the Reverend Libby Lane as the eighth Bishop of Stockport continued.
She was named as the new bishop last month in a move ending centuries of all-male leadership in the Church.
The announcement came after the General Synod formally adopted legislation allowing women bishops.
During the service she spoke to affirm and declare her belief in the faith and swore oaths of allegiance and canonical obedience.

"This is my first cabbage! You know, a lot of times they’re kind of soft, but this one is sold! It’s going to be good eatin’!" "What are you going to make with it?" "Well, this one I’m giving to my parents. You have to give the first one away or you just spoil the whole spirit of gardening."
This is the most victorious photo of cabbage ever captured.
Indeed! Give it ALL away!

Not quite Episcopalian (but ELCA, so close enough), but this is an outstanding pledge campaign video. Positive and fun.
