How much are these worth
Good question! It probably depends on which issues you have and which covers you have. I see them selling on eBay for as low as $3 and as high as $30+ for some of the variants.
Holy F*ck #1 has about 3500 copies out there floating around in the world. As with most comics, those numbers declined as the series went on. There's probably about 2000 copies of our final issue, Holy F*cked #4, out there. Comic Vine is a good way to figure out which Holy F*ck variants you may have.
The rarest printings are the convention variants of Holy F*ck #1 (NYCC 2014) and Holy F*cked #1 (SDCC 2015).
The rarest of the rare are our preview ashcans that I made for SDCC 2014, I printed about 30 of each.
And the real(ly corny) answer is that the true value is whatever they're worth to you! 😬
HOLY F*CKED #1-4 SEPTEMBER - DECEMBER 2015 BY NICK MARINO AND DANIËL ARRUDA MASSA
SYNOPSIS (FROM COMIC VINE)
After recklessly killing tons of gods in HOLY F*CK, Jesus is back, again, and chilling with Satan in domestic bliss. And their best bud, Sister Maria, is managing a local homeless shelter.
Sounds great, right? Not for Hercules! The “Muscles from Mt. Olympus” is pissed and he wants revenge.
Plus… what shocking news does Satan have for his macho messiah?
We’re serving up a piping hot pile of excitement as a mild-mannered dinner party turns deadly!
Jesus and Satan are hosting Maria and her new lover, Thanatos, over for an evening of camaraderie and conversation. But Thanatos isn’t actually Thanatos… he’s Hercules! And he wants to kill Jesus.
Hercules is driving a van full of explosives with Jesus tied up in the back. But he’s in for one hell of a ride because the New Apostles are out to stop him! Will Cosmic Moses, the Secret Pope, Mother 2resa, and the Holy Spirit halt Herc before he blows Jesus to kingdom come? Plus… can Maria get Satan to the hospital on time?
A legendary Greek demigod battles a pissed off Argentinian nun! (Okay, maybe you didn’t actually demand it…). Maria fights her former lover as the fate of Jesus hangs in the balance. Can she dispatch Hercules as easily as his daddy, Zeus? Plus–what surprise does Satan have waiting at the hospital?
REVIEW
I am still not sure how these guys know the key things you need to know about argentinians, but they did an epic story where a nun pretty much can deal with anything. Jesus and Satan are also there, but they are quite ineffective in dealing with the gods. This, of course, kind of makes sense in an absurd story, where you can feel like Satan and Jesus are more humans than anybody else.
There is more nudity in this mini than he original and it is totally unnecessary. I don’t mind much about it, I think it’s there for shock value mostly. Let’s just say that Jesus dick puts Batman’s to shame.
Compared to the first mini, the story is even shorter, with many characters just filling a few issues. At least in the first mini, we followed Jesus, Satan and María around the world, and the gods. In fact, I think the interactions among the gods were quite entertaining. Here Hercules has to deal with being the only villain of the story.
At least I think the story is more offensive than the first one, and I am going to assume that was the goal.
I give this story a score of 7
I recorded a beach picnic podcast about Holy F*ck and other comics.
Yesterday, Rosie Knight wrote a cool article about some of the contrasts in Action Lab’s publishing business. It’s a really smart piece with lots of interesting personal experiences woven into it. Read it here…
One of the personal tidbits in there is that Rosie will be writing backups for an upcoming Action Lab: Danger Zone comic book… by @darrudamassa and yours truly!
It’s not another Holy F*ck miniseries, although I’m sure if you enjoyed our two volumes of that title then you’ll like this one too. It’s something in a slightly different genre with a slightly different set of themes and some wholly leveled up art by Daniel!
We’ll be announcing the new miniseries on Sat July 23 at 7pm during the Action Lab panel in Room 28DE. If you’re going to SDCC, I hope to see you there!
(Also… I’ll be in San Diego from Sat-Sun July 23-24 this year, so I’ll probably have a signing time or two at Action Lab: Danger Zone’s Booth #2006. I’ll share that with you soon.)
A f*cking sweet Satan easter egg on Axur Eneas’s cover for Sleigher #3, available for pre-order now! Methinks I see some Maria on there too…
We’re stoked that Holy F*ck is included in the new comiXology Unlimited subscription service!
Plus, we’re also on a couple of other cool comic book buffets. The rad Comic Blitz app has our first volume while a comprehensive Scribd subscription offers both Holy F*ck and Holy F*cked.
Wow, we're speechless! Truly honored to be nominated not once but twice for Best Humor Publication in the 2016 Eisner Awards.
Have you ever wanted to read Holy F*ck in Russian... for free?!? We've been pirated AND translated by a Russian reader who relettered the whole miniseries, even meticulously replacing the cover logos! (That blurb on their website was auto-translated in the web browser... I suspect the actual translator’s english is muuuuch better than that.)
