for obvious reasons , there will be MANY mentions of angels and angelic orders on this blog . the thing however is , i use this term mostly for practical reasons , but the angels and the lore depicted on this blog won’t subscribe to a “ christian ” canon . ( the mun , personally , is an atheist — but by speaking of “ my ” angels i don’t mean to disrespect people who do believe in the christian depiction of angels , i’m simply suggesting a type of creature who can be assimilated to christian angels but is also fundamentally different ) .
first off , “ god ” in this universe ( as well as in robin’s and , basically , all my characters of a supernatural genre ) is not a single almighty being who’s created the universe . rather , god is more of an energy , a force of life / positivity that has its opposite and equal in the force of death / negativity . we could easily be tricked into thinking of these two forces as ‘ good ‘ and ‘ evil ‘ , but that’s not quite the case . both forces are necessary for creation and evolution , growth and birth . their physical manifestation is found in the gods , and there are many , each responsible for different aspects of life / death / the universe , and yet all of them working as ramifications of these two forces .
the gods created the ones we could call angels , beings of pure energy whose purposes vary but generally maintain the role of guardians , watching over every single component of the universe , and incidentally also keeping living creatures safe .
angels are forces , spirits , but they translate to creatures with a human body , when on earth . their human vessel is randomly created , by forces that have more to do with quantum physics than faith or religion . they maintain some powers , mostly relating to their own individual characteristics , though generally all angels are :
immortal , or rather : they can die , but they will usually be born again in the span of a couple days , with no recollection of their memories ( unless triggered by specific factors ) . this changes from angel to angel , and it mostly has to do with their own peculiar roles / characteristics .
be able to instinctively tell demonic from angelic creatures , though the lines are obviously blurred in the case of supernatural creatures with different balances of positive and negative forces ( i . e . vampires ) .
be able to cast protection spells , or rather shields repelling negative forces , around whomever they decide to protect .
able to speak all languages of all living creatures , to some extent .
according to each angel’s specific role , they also have additional powers , that are supposed to aid them in their quest . julia’s powers allows her to be an incredibly good tracker , and when set on searching someone , she can find them with much ease , seldom failing .
of course , with her memory having been wiped she has no idea she possesses powers , and the ones that are innate skills that don’t need to be activated , like her ability for tracking , she almost always attributes to luck / intuition .
now , an angel’s powers / nature can be repressed , but not for long . it’s sort of like trying to lock a vibrating core of energy inside a box — it can’t hold , soon enough it’ll burst . whether this “ bursting ” happens violently or not , depends on a million factors .
in julia’s case , it’s already beginning to happen , but rather slowly , almost privately , in a way . she’s been having dreams , visions she can’t quite make sense of . most of the time they relate to past events she doesn’t know , because they have given her proof of a lifetime ( school records , trophies , pictures etc ) that doesn’t match them . she’s beginning to figure out that something’s off , but she wouldn’t be able to say exactly what .
what’s funny is , her time as a hunter is affecting her far more than expected . her new personality has not been planted into her , but a spontaneous response to a new environment / life / purpose . what remains is her extreme devotion to a higher power ( the gods before , the order now ) , and her true power will be the ability to find the meeting point between her two souls , and breaking free of her ties to both the order and the gods .
