🏳️🌈 BOOK REVIEW 🏳️🌈
A Viper Among Kings by Sydney Olivia
⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
QOTD: What is/was/will be your first read of June?

Thank you to Daphne Press and Netgalley for the eARC. All thoughts are my own.
This was such a fascinating book full of interesting, layered characters and a great plot that kept me hooked.
I loved the concept of Magic as a being. I definitely need to know more about Magic and Voids in the future of this series. This book tells you enough to intrigue you but nowhere near enough to have any answers and it’s very cleverly done.
Esme and her wraith siblings were all really interesting characters and I loved getting to know them, especially Esme and Urias. And I thought Bal, Janos, Mina and Simon were intriguing as well. The relationships between them all were great and I loved the way Esme loved each of them differently. But to be honest, I didn’t end up connecting with them on an emotional level which left some scenes that should have had me tearing up at the very least feeling a little hollow.
That being said, I think the writing here is fantastic and I will definitely be picking up book 2.

doubly funny that I saw a compilation of all the corporate accounts like "aw thanks elmo, we're doing well" meanwhile all the flesh and blood real human people are extremely not okay
Okay but Elmo had actually the best and sweetest response to all this trauma dumping:
And then all the other Sesame Street character accounts joined in:
And now I’m thinking maybe we’re gonna be okay… 💗
(Comment compilation from this Twitter)
I kinda feel for the poor person running Elmo's Twitter.
"So, boss... I may have messed up."
"What did you do, Ray?"
"Well, I made a post for Elmo saying 'Hi, how's everybody doing?'"
"I mean, that's kind of what we pay you for."
"Yeah, but.... <sigh> it turns out pretty much everyone is hanging on by a thread, badly enough that they needed to tell Elmo."
"Oh."
"God help me, boss, I think Elmo needs to be there for them."
"Get the others."
this is the energy that jim henson would be proud of.
and important addition

✨ BOOK REVIEW ✨
The Boyfriend Clause by Bridie Blake
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
QOTD: Do you have a dream job?
I never have 😅
[instagram]
I had such a great time reading this one. Fake dating and grumpy/sunshine are two of my fave tropes so this was sure to be a hit.
I adored both Sabrina and Adam. Their banter was top tier and I loved the gradual way Adam started opening up to her, letting her see more of him, letting some of his walls down. They were wonderful together.
Sabrina’s family annoyed me. Which I know was kinda the point, but I think I was also meant to find them loveable in some way and aside from her dad and her sisters wife—who both didn’t really do or say much—I just didn’t. They were rude, demanding and nitpicky. While I enjoyed Sabrina finally sticking up for herself, it didn’t seem to resolve much at all.
✨ BOOK REVIEW ✨
I Could Give You the Moon by Ann Liang
⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
QOTD: Do you believe in fate?
[instagram]
Thank you to Harper Collins Australia for sending me a copy of this one. All thoughts are my own.
This one had such a fascinating plot! I kind of wish we got a bit more about the visions on the lake, but the quiet mystery of it really worked. I loved the way it played with the idea of fate and whether or not you can change course or whether attempting to change things will inevitably be what causes the vision to come true.
Ares was such a fascinating character. The story with his brother, the way he was doing everything he could, suffering through so much, just to get him back.
I’ll admit I didn’t really love Chanel. Her obsession with image, the right ways to feel and behave, the way she manipulated people, the way she thought about herself and others, all really frustrated me.
I also didn’t really feel the relationship build. I didn’t feel the slowly building tension or the fake feelings turning to real feelings. It kind of felt like we skipped the middle part with all the yearning and confused feelings. But once we got there, I did love these two together. They were so sweet.

QOTD: Do you have any artistic talents?
I do not haha but I often dabble with trying.

This was such a brilliant rivals to lovers romance!
I loved how different and yet how similar Noah and Sage were. They’re both so driven to be the best, fuelled by the constant need to be not just making art, but making the best art. I really loved the way this story explored the different ways they pushed themselves too hard and the impacts it had on both of them.
I adored their slow coming together. They were so right for each other and the progression of their relationship felt so gentle and natural.
I really appreciated that they both had separate stories going on, too, and opening up about their family life and their insecurities and struggles was a big part of the deepening of their relationship.
