While not our only reason, our primary reason for this is: Food.

We live in a house of five currently, and some things have happened money-wise that mean that we, who have specific food needs, texture issues, health issues affected by foods, etc. are largely going without or forcing ourselves into bad health states by eating things we shouldn't be because nobody else in the house eats the same way we do and several of them have the exact opposite requirements as us.
