Theory:

Lesbians that are too into straight girls illustrate the difference between being gay and being queer (ie ppl who actively engage within the community). Gays go for any woman they find attractive, but queers are more or even exclusively attracted to queer women because they have that deeper understanding. Gays are more receptive to women that present in way more acceptable to the heterosexual gaze (nothing wrong that!) but it comes off almost like a tunnel vision where straight women are put on a pedestal intentionally or unintentionally.
