Finally mounted a metal front fender and got rid of the big red plastic one. Also made a side cover for the other side. Going to be looking for rear fenders now. Also need to re-mount the front turn signals because they are a bit funky. I broke one, bought a replacement on eBay and (obviously) the stalk is way longer than the stock one. Also, the bend of the new bars makes them angle funkily. I shall be making new steel stems for the fronts when I get a moment.

Here is a progression of changes I’m planning for the bike.

1. As the bike sits now

2. After a fender trim, new bars and grips, black rear render (amazing how much the fender trim helps)

3. New side cover and rally light

4. White front fender and frame painted black

5. Tank paint and number plate paint

(un)Refined Adventure Bikes

This image aims to explore that sweet spot between a fully-loaded, functional, long-haul rally adventure bikes and the pristine cafe-scrambler customs that are all the rage these days. I’m looking for a mix of refined and unrefined, a balance of functionality and style. I want bright lights, turn signals, handguards, cargo capacity, etc, but with a level of refinement that doesn’t make me look like the guy above. I also want to retain the vintage character of the bike, leaving some scuffs and rust and period parts without going full out rust-porn and intentionally distressing things.
