“ do you not like it ? ” theo smiled, tilting his head to the side, an honest question. “ owning, tj, is an stative verb, did you know that ? it describes a state of being rather than an action. i have blue eyes, you own a whole string of different business, all the twenty four hours in our days remain vacant. i continue to not know what you do for a living. ” and then with another sip of his drink, one that got the same exact reaction out of him, distaste, flinching, oof, he shook his head, “ i know, i know, very pedantic, but what can i say ? you are cynical and miserable and not hateful and i am a stickler for details. ” he took a bite of his fries. now that, that was way more enjoyable. “ i am not fishing for anything, by the way, i am asking you things, is all. what do you like doing then, is that a better question ? what makes cynical, miserable thaddeus smile ? ”
“not at all, it’s different.” people were too afraid of thaddeus, which was how he preferred things, but when people were too afraid to be themselves, to act casual and make friends, it meant he hadn’t had any sort of nickname since he was in school when he was young. not including anna or sasha’s nicknames for him of course, they were the closest people in his life. “you know, if you don’t like the drink, you don’t have to drink it.” he mused, but then he decided to take a leap, no idea what kind of leap, but a gamble regardless. “art. art makes me smile. art is what i do. rafaelle monti, vincent van gogh, paul cézanne, jean-paul riopelle and francisco galeno.” thadd hummed, he could keep listing them, that wasn’t even a list of his favorites, just the ones he had handles more recently.
