A Confession (@precurehelperseiji)
It was almost like a revelation.
It was something that Sagara had never considered before.
Was not being a girl really an option? But the more they thought about it… that’s right, it was really true, wasn’t it? Was there really anything said that they had to be a girl? Sure, it was on their school ID and everyone called them a girl, but…
It had always felt unnatural to them. Growing up, Sagara had just kind of assumed they were a tomboy- at least until they began to hit their growth spurt, that is. That’s when everything seemed to change around them- everyone kept talking about all sorts of strange things, and none of it was stuff Sagara liked.
Training bras? Periods? What was all that? They didn’t want any of that!
"That’s true…" Sagara said after a moment, their eyes going wide, as they met eyes with Yuko. “That’s true!” They repeated again, their eyes almost shining.
"I’m not a girl at all, Omori! I’m a boy!"
And for the first time in awhile, he smiled.
[And Yuko does tear up now - even though she doesn't understand it, even if it'll take a lot of reading and research to really understand it, there's one thing she knows: Sagara is a boy.
She sniffles after a moment, wiping tears from her eyes, and can't help capturing him in a warm, tight hug.]
"I'm so happy for you!"
[She's still beaming as she lets him go.]
"You need a new first name, right? Ah, but you need a better haircut too - you're a boy, you can't walk around with your hair looking like that! And we gotta tell your mom and Mao-chan and Megumi-chan too and and and - "
[ - wait. Yuko stops, shakes her head. It had been hard enough for Sagara to bring it up with her, how hard would it be to bring it up with everyone else?]
" - but you should do it when you're ready. I won't say anything about it unless you want me to, Sagara, it's a promise!"
