Divination Tips for Beginners
Divination can be hard and draining, it takes up a lot of energy. For those who are still new to it, it can really drain you and result in headaches and frustrations. Here are some tips to help all you beginners out with divination and how draining it can be.
Drink plenty of water, being dehydrated is not fun and especially not when you are using so much energy
Take a shower or bath before any divination work to help cleanse yourself
Meditate before big divination work to help center and ground yourself
Crystals good for divination and psychic work: nuummite, amethyst, amazonite, fluorite, and aqua aura quartz
Clear Quartz is a good energy booster and can help you feel less drained after divination
Drink some black tea to help ground yourself and give yourself extra energy for divination work
If you are starting to feel tired during divination, that is okay, take a break or take a nap. Forcing yourself to keep going will only exhaust you further and make everything more difficult. You deserve breaks
It is okay to use notes during divination, don’t worry what others say. Its not ‘unprofessional’, even veterans in divination use notes. Keep a notebook with you full of different meanings of cards or stones or runes, take notes as you go, write down your thoughts and keep it near you every time you practice.
Yellow is the color of divination, keep yellow things around you to help. Yellow blanket(s), yellow pillows, yellow candles, yellow pieces of paper; anything you can find. Purple is also another color good to help with psychic abilities and awareness
Herbs good for divination and psychic work: cinnamon, lemon, cherry, lettuce, grapes, orange (orange peel), mint, pumpkin, celery, lemon balm, catnip, thyme, rose, seaweed, star anise, mullein, mugwort and rosemary can all help you. Bake with them, eat them, use them in teas or keep them near you in a sachet or jar
Stretch and take little walks. Sitting for a long time can be killer and make you sore. Stretch your legs and take little five or ten minute walks during long readings and psychic work. Muscle and joint stiffness is never fun
Rather than trying to tackle large readings every day, do small ones. Like a few questions to your pendulum, pull a single card, draw a crystal from a bag, etc. Small daily practices can help you in the long run without exhausting you.
Open a window and let some fresh air in while you work, it will do wonders, especially since air is the element associated with divination work.
Keep a small bowl or cup of salt near you, it will absorb the negative energy about you especially if you are feeling frustrated
Moon water is great for divination: drink it, make tea with it, spray the room with it, anoint yourself with it, keep it near you, etc
Cleanse your space before divination work, again it will keep negativity away from you
Cleanse and charge your divination tools regularly, it really helps in the long run. Put them in the moonlight at night (especially during full moons), keep salt near them, smoke cleanse them if you can, burn white candles, use crystals/gems, etc
Its okay if you get confused and don’t know how to interpret something. Take notes on it and with time it may become more clear to you. Don’t force yourself to try to understand
Mistakes happen, you won’t always be 100% right on things. No one is, divination is not a certain thing. Things change all the time, its okay. Don’t let it get you down.
If you are tired, sick, stressed, or anything else and don’t feel like doing divination work that is fine. Its okay, you don’t have to do it all the time. Especially not if you are feeling unwell and tired. Rest and take care of yourself, you can continue practice another time
If you use tools in your work like mirrors, tea cups/mugs, cards, crystals, etc try to bond with them. Creating a bond with your tools can improve your divination quite a bit
You don’t have to practice on other people, you can do it for yourself and your own questions. Its an old wive’s tale that you can’t use tarot or divination on yourself, you definitely can
Try to get a good nights sleep before and after divination
Once you finish, treat yourself. Get something to eat, watch a movie or show you like, curl up with a book, snuggle into a blanket, play with your pets, take a nap; do whatever makes you happy. You did a good job and deserve some time to rest and recharge afterwards
Lucid Dreaming Masterpost
What is Lucid Dreaming?
Lucid dreaming is when you are in a dream but fully aware that you are in a dream, leading to you often being able to control the outcomes or certain aspects of the dream. You are able to live your fantasies and also are more likely to remember your dreams come morning.
With work Lucid dreaming can be improved into astral projection via sleep or dream walking where you can exit your dreams to enter the dreams of others or walk about the “dream plane”. Skilled lucid dreamers also often use their dreams for divination and problem solving due to how vivid they are and how it is easier to remember them.
Herbs for Lucid Dreaming: African Dream Bean, Blue Lotus, *Datura, *Mexican Dream Herb, Lavender, Mugwort, Rose Buds, Valerian Root, Wild Asparagus
Crystals for Lucid Dreaming: Albite, Angel Phantom Quartz, Danburite, Herkimer Diamond, Lazulite, Moonstone, Rhodonite, Scolecite
Foods for Lucid Dreaming: Almonds, Bananas, Cherries, Chicken, Kidney Beans, Lamb, Oats/Oatmeal, Pumpkin/Pumpkin Seeds, Rice, Soybeans and Tofu, Sunflower Seeds, Tomatoes, Turkey
Essential Oils for Lucid Dreaming: Lavender, Mugwort, Patchouli, Rose
Other things to achieve Lucid Dreaming:
Keep a dream journal and write in it regularly.
Interpret the meanings behind your dreams after recording them
Avoid caffeine, alcohol, and smoking cigarettes before bed
Keep a regular sleeping schedule
Sleep in complete darkness if possible
Meditate before going to sleep
Openly state before you go to bed “I will lucid dream tonight” and repeat this either out-loud or in your mind as you get ready for bed. When you lay in bed continue focused on that in your mind
Along with that before bed tell yourself, preferably in a mirror if it helps, that you will remember your dreams come morning
Do “reality checks” meaning in your dream check to see if you are dreaming. If you see mirrors, see if you can see the background behind you or if it is misty/blurry. If see a clock look at it, look away, then look back, often in dreams the time will change. This is the same for signs and street signs. You can also before going to bed mark up your hand with ink and in your dream look down and see if it is there still. If its not you know you’re dreaming. Look down at your feet, often in dreams they will seem oddly unfocused. If you see a bookshelf, see if any of the book titles are visible or repeat.
Okay, I know I am dreaming, now what do I do?
Well now you practice. It is rare to immediately be able to control your dreams completely. To gain full control you need to practice. Start small and take baby steps. Try hopping in place in your dream, see if you can make yourself hover for even just a second. Keep at it, try to float in place longer and longer with each jump. In time and with practice and patience you will be able to soar through your dreams one night and it’s easy from there. If you come across a locked door try opening it while saying out loud “this door is unlocked”. Keep at it, because hopefully you will be able to open it soon enough.
Start talking to the ‘characters’ in your dreams. Try to influence their behavior such as suggesting they do something. You can also approach a ‘stranger’ in your dream and see what happens if you state that you two are friends. If they start acting as if they know you and are indeed your friend, you know you have improved your control.
Take notes in your dream journal on these tests. Write down if they failed or succeeded and keep at it. With time you will be able to change things in your dreams with ease.
The Positives of Lucid Dreaming:
You can control your dreams! That is just awesome, you can live out things you can’t do in real life.
Prevent or stop nightmares, when you are lucid dreaming you can just tell whatever is causing you the nightmare to ‘fuck off’ and usually they will. Nightmares can be quickly changed into enjoyable dreams
From my personal experience and experiences of others, after a lucid dream you feel more awake and alive come morning, it’s almost energizing to wake up from
Its calming, I can relieve my stresses from the day and not worry about them in my dreams
You can attempt to solve your real life struggles in your dreams or making plans
Eventually you can work your way to Astral Travel and Dream Walking
Using your dreams for divination
Improve sleep, many people who lucid dream fall asleep faster and deeper than most people leading to them having improved sleep patterns and habits
For artists and story writers, dreams can really inspire you and help you test out your ideas
Deity communication, for those who do worship deities you can communicate or even interact with them in your dreams if you welcome them in.
Spirit and entity communication, just like deities lucid dreamers can interact with entities in their dreams by letting them in. Many lucid dreamers interact with their guides and guardians through dreams as well
Happy Dreaming everyone~
Hi I'm a beginner and I wanted to know if there's any information I should know before beginning? Thank you
Research, research, research. Research everything you can, take notes, save resources, and before using anything for a spell look into what it is. Some oils, crystals, and herbs can be dangerous if used wrong. Some stones are toxic if put into water or will dissolve thus ruining them, others will fade if left in the sun, some break and chip easily. Certain herbs can cause medical problems if you are on medications, others if too large amounts are ingested can cause severe reactions such as internal bleeding. Some herbs can’t be burned or vapors inhaled without causing illness. Oils can be highly toxic and can cause chemical burns if not diluted or well researched.
Safety is important so I always stress for beginners to be smart about things. Use proper fire safety when burning things, keep a bowl of sand or salt near you in case the fire flares. Keep your hair tied back if it is longer than your jaw when burning things, roll up your sleeves, make sure you are in a space that is safe to have smoke (open a window if needed). Have something safe to put the burning object/paper in, such as an earthenware or clay bowl/plate. Holding burning paper is just a bad idea. Don’t ever leave candles burning if you are not in the room or if you are leaving, don’t fall asleep with candles and incense burning. When using oils on candles, keep a close eye on them in case any of the oil catches fire. Don’t ever put water on an oil fire!
When using ingredients in a bath, make sure the items you’re adding to the bath is safe. As previously stated certain oils can cause skin irritation or burns (such as pure citrus oil and basil essential oil). If you are female don’t put sugar into your bath (you can use honey but don’t use more than a tablespoon or two and don’t use it too often) at risk of a causing yourself a yeast infection (not fun). Make sure the herbs you are using are safe to use in baths and again if a crystal is not safe in water, keep it on the floor or near the tub, but not in the water or where it will get wet.
Be smart, don’t ingest random plants you find outside, unless you are certain it is safe. Keep your oils, incense, candles and herbs away from familiars or pets for they can get seriously sick from them.
Research so you can also find what interests you, that way you can find or make your own path. Don’t feel rushed, don’t feel like you have to do spells immediately and all the time. You can have down time, its okay to go weeks without doing anything ‘witchy’. Don’t let others try any “gatekeeping” with you. It doesn’t matter your gender, age, religious views, sexuality, star/birth chart, race, whether your family members are witches or not, etc. You are a witch if you practice magick and want to be called a witch, that’s all that is necessary. Don’t bother with people who try to say otherwise.
Pop culture magick and technomancy/techno magick is still magick. There are people you will meet who will try to talk down about those who use emoji spells, computers, shufflemancy, etc. Everyone’s path is valid and if you choose to use any of those, you are valid.
You don’t need to practice in a coven to be a witch. You don’t have to be wiccan or pagan to be a witch. You can be any religion you want or not be religious at all.
Cursing is not something you should be ashamed of. If you decide to use curses, that is your choice. If others don’t agree with you that’s their choice. You do you, don’t worry about them.
Magick and spells are exhausting! You may feel drained after even just making a sigil or doing a tarot readings. That’s okay, you’re new at it. Give it time, take breaks. Take nice rests afterwards, stay hydrated, take naps, etc.
To help prevent exhaust ground and center yourself, practice energy work, learn how to improve your visualization and practice meditation if possible. Trust me, it all helps.
Keep a Grimoire full of the information you find such as correspondences, star/birth charts, vocabulary, herbs, crystals, toxic plants, safety practices, etc. Keep a Book of Shadows to take personal notes on yourself, your practice, your spells and their outcomes. These tools can help you greatly.
Anything can be used for witchcraft you don’t have to buy any specific crystals, herbs, tools, oils, etc. budget witchcraft is a thing. You can use everyday items in your craft just fine such as common foods, kitchen tools, colors, markers, paper, cleaning supplies/tools (be careful, don’t mix bleach with any other cleaners!), toys, art supplies, office supplies, etc etc. Use whatever you have as long as it is safe.
Do what makes you happy. You don’t have to force yourself to practice something you don’t find joy in. Tarot cards not your thing? That’s okay. You don’t like tea? That’s fine, use juice, smoothies, broth, etc instead. Don’t take baths, you prefer showers? Cool, use shower spells instead of bath spells. Do what makes you happy, do what makes you comfortable. You don’t have to work with spirits, you don’t have to work with plants; you don’t have to do anything.
If you want more information for beginners check out my tags: beginner magic, beginner witchcraft, masterpost, herbs, crystals, essential oils, spells, curses and my general witchcraft tags.
Good luck dear~~

Building Trust in Relationships
Trust is at the heart of all strong relationships. It allows us to feel safe and secure with one another. Hence, it’s crucial that we know what the key components are so we can actively develop, promote, and honour trust. Some tips to help you here include the following:
1. Be Reliable. Even small things - like canceling an arrangement or failing to follow through on a commitment you have made – will undermine and fracture the relationship. If this happens on a regular basis the whole foundation will crumble and fall.
2. Related to this, always strive to keep the promises you’ve made. Trust requires that people believe you are a person who’s dependable and reliable. If you have to break a promise, then be decent enough to explain face-to-face why you have to let them down.
3. Tell the truth. It’s easy to resort to telling a white lie to protect another person, or to cover your back. But if you tell the truth even when it isn’t pleasant, you will become a person who is known for being trustworthy.
4. Volunteer information. When you have the chance to be vague – don’t take it. Instead be open and transparent, and share important details. Volunteering information says you’ve nothing to hide.
5. Don’t share other peoples’ secrets; don’t be someone who’s a gossip allowed – as we only feel we’re safe with a person who’s discreet. Remember: a confidence … is a confidence … is a confidence.
6. Display loyalty, and be there for that person. That shows that you are caring, dependable and safe.
🛡 Warding 🛡
Disclaimer: This is all based on my research, path, opinion & experiences! Intro: I really was holding out on doing this post because it’s such a big, important topic to cover and I really don’t want to mess it up or get anything wrong. This post needs to be done though, people have asked if I have such a post and an anon suggested it. So finally, here it is. - What Is Warding? Warding is a type of magick, it is the act of creating an energetic barrier around you, your home, an object, ect. They can be temporary or permanent, although typically they are cast with the long term in mind. They can banish or turn away whatever you choose. Warding is an excellent skill to have because it can keep you, and even others safe and with practice you can do it anytime with just about whatever you have on hand. When Should I Ward? Whenever you want an energetic barrier around you, most people consistently ward their home, themselves or their place of practice. Some people even ward their space every time they prepare for a spell. It should be done consistently in any area you want protected, but exactly where and how often is entirely up to the practitioner. What Should I Do Before? Cleanse, a ward is a barrier of energy and in the same way that it keeps things out it also keeps things in. You don’t want to trap anything inside of it. Cleanse yourself before you ward yourself. Cleanse your space before you ward your space! Tips Before You Ward- Phrasing Keep the phrasing in mind! You don’t want to keep anything out that you want in, or let something in that you want out. If you’re chanting or using sigils ect keep in mind exactly what you want to keep out both in your methods and in your mind. Covering everything Make sure to cover everything, a ward is useless if there’s a weakness in it or if the ceiling & floor aren’t probably covered. Be super thorough! Layering Your Wards One small little wimpy barrier? Ha, the spirits say as they scramble into your home to wreak havoc! You need to layer your wards, don’t just use one method one time, there’s no such thing as too much warding. What Are Some Ways That I Can Ward? Now we’ll get right down to the methods you can use to ward yourself and your space! Remember that warding is important and needs to be effective, don’t try anything that you don’t have experience with for warding. At first, focus on the stuff you know. If you like sigils, use sigils at first and slowly work your way into using other more complex methods or methods that solely rely on your abilities. Circle Casting You cast a circle by summoning the four elements to protect & energize what is in the circle. - Here’s my post about circles & how to cast them Chanting/Speaking Come up with a protective chant you can use to ward your space. This chant could be someone else’s or your own as long as you feel it’s effective. Speak it aloud and visualize a layer of energy protecting your space. Incense Burn a protective incense in the space you’d like to ward and visualize a barrier protecting your space. Athame Draw out the line of your ward with your athame, visualize the wall appearing, covering everything with a thick layer of energy. Spraying Spray a mix of blessed/magickal waters and or herbs with protective properties in the space you want to ward. Sigils Create a sigil using your favorite method with the intent to “ward” or “protect/protection.” Then charge and activate it as a layer of protection! Here’s my post on sigils if you’re interested in that: - Sigil Post Jar Spells You could mix up a jar spell for warding, set it in your house and forget it as a layer of warding. - My protective jar spell post Anointment Anoint the doorways of your space, you could also anoint the ceiling, floor, walls, corners, honestly go for it. Salt Sprinkle salt all around the edge of your home or space. Make sure to sprinkle salt on the INSIDE of your harm as salt can harm plants & wildlife if used outside. If you’d like to make a barrier on the outside of your home, you can use dried & crushed eggshells in place of salt. - Post on how to make eggshell powder here - Hag stones Hag stones are stones with holes in them that have been corroded into the stone because of rushing water. It is believed rushing water is protective & cleansing so if you wear a stone that sat in it long enough to have parts corroded away, that the stone will maintain and keep those properties with it. It’s a great way to personally ward yourself, and an excuse to go out in nature. They look like this!
Energy Manipulation If you’ve got a knack for manipulating energy, you can create a barrier through work and visualization that surrounds yourself or your space. This isn’t recommended for beginners though! Links: - Horse Warding Charm By @anothersusurrus - House Warding Spritz Mixture By @seleneblackwell Both of these are great if you’re looking for specific spells, types of magick, correspondences, sigils, ect! - Protection Magic Masterpost Part 1 By @auricwitch - Protection Magic Masterpost Part 2 By @auricwitch Personal Wards Also remember not just to ward your space but yourself, if you layer your home with wards, what happens when you leave? Exactly. Keep yourself safe too! Circle casting & hag stones are great methods I mentioned above that are good for personal warding. Can I Ward Specific Things And Not Others? Absolutely! I mentioned this in the phrasing section of this post, keep in mind exactly what you want to keep out when you’re warding. I like words like “negative” or “harmful” or “with ill intent” because they don’t necessarily keep out the Fae or positive/neutral spirits but it does keep out anything that wants to harm you in general. Just think about it ahead of time, find wording or a phrase you like and keep that in mind as you ward. What If I Live With People? If you’re out of the broom closet, explain to your family/roommates what you’re doing and why you’re doing it and make sure they’re cool with it and are aware of what’s going on. If you’re not out of the broom closet, you may have to resort to only warding yourself/your room, & that’s okay! I hope this helps someone or teaches them something new! Enjoy! Have a lovely day 💖

“Maybe the journey isn’t so much about becoming anything. Maybe it’s about un-becoming everything that isn’t really you so you can be who you were meant to be in the first place.”
— Unknown
“Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated.”
— Confucius
Another sleepless night feeling empty and alone.. how did i end up here everything feels so wrong. Maybe youre right maybe it was me with the problem all along but then again i was a much better and happier person before you came along..
Tips for Making Life Work
1. Focus on doing one thing at a time. Tackling multiple activities may seem more efficient, but giving one task your complete attention is actually more productive in the end. It also cuts down on your levels of stress.
2. Slow down and enjoy the journey. Whatever you’re doing is important right now. Don’t wish that it was over – and try and make it fun.
3. Stop being such a perfectionist. If you’re a pilot or a surgeon then standards have their place … but for the rest of life “don’t be so hard on yourself”. Don’t stress out over details and impressing everyone.
4. Learn to delegate to others: take the pressure off yourself. Perhaps other people won’t do the job as well. But that’s how people grow – so why not give them that chance – and spend your own time doing things that you’d prefer to do.
5. Don’t always be waiting for the other shoe to drop. Lots of people spend their lives terrified of what might happen – and most of the time things work out to be just fine. Thus, they’re worrying for nothing when they could be having fun!
6. Focus on what you have, not what you wish you had. All of us have things we can be grateful for. Not everything is awful –and life’s not always bad. And if you change your focus to what you’re thankful for, you’ll find you feel much happier, and worry a lot less.
7. If things go wrong, just shrug your shoulders and smile. Remind yourself that life goes on - so don’t wreak your life wishing things were different or regretting what you’ve done. Also, things might work out next time. Tomorrow’s a new day.
