tips that have personally helped me with depression
have dental care things in the shower. sounds a bit silly but it really works. all you need to do is just make it to the shower and all the stuff you need for more hygiene care is there.
remove chargers, don't bring power banks. let your devices die. if it's dead, you can't use it. and that can be a way to physically have a barrier against doomscrolling and pulls you back into the moment.
tell (a very trusted friend) some things they need to force you to do and have them text reminders for things you need to check/do. you don't need to tell them why if you're not comfortable, but depression can really affect memory and recall. this helped me remember i had an exam that day and i would have completely not known. 7/15 is better than 0/15!
spray deodorant, baby wipes, hand sanitiser, chewable toothpaste, listerine strips, etc are so needed. anything to lower the barrier to entry for things. trust me. keep them in your bag and in your room so you don't forget to bring them.
add colour to what you see. colourful nails, change device backgrounds, etc. the places you frequent the most, add colour.
i do not mean your clothes btw dw, as you don't see it very often due to it being on you not in your line of vision.
expanding on tip 1. keep dental things by your bed for when you physically can't make it out + a cup by your bed for spitting out toothpaste, mouthwash, floss. i did this routine so much last year and honestly while the cup ended up looking disgusting because i never rinsed it, it kept my teeth okayish.
have missed/repeat the lectures on in the background constantly. it will make you feel more productive, and you're subconsciously consuming the information.
short hair (+ a wig if you need). short hair by far more manageable. you don't have to worry about matting, will dry quicker, etc. it can feel like a new start. and for styling, you can always wear a wig for short stints if you want, which means its super easy to change vibes.
listen to UPBEAT HAPPY MUSIC! you will feel better listening to "tomorrow tomorrow the sun will come out tomorrow" then you will mitski. ik shes great. don't listen rn.
walk around in circles around your home.
you can buy pouches of soup. easy to microwave them to heat them up, and super nutrient dense because they're veggie soup.
learn what temp gives you energy! for me this is cold temperatures, so i physically cool myself down constantly. i cannot work in hot temps and this makes a bigger difference than you think.
remember that you can always do more than you think
any additions to the list! greatly appreciated!
