Watch: President Obama smacks down Donald Trump, says using “radical Islam” plays into terrorist hands.
“If we call the enemy what they are, they win,” -basically what this retard said.
No, this retard (by the way President of the United States, who is FAR more intelligent than you)is saying that you can’t call them Islam because that’s not what they are. It perpetuates that the entire Islam is against us when it’s ISIL and Al Qaeda.
We didn’t call Nazis “radical Christianity” did we? So why do the same with an entire religion of people, 1 billion people. Puzzle me that, retard.
The Nazis were not in any way, shape, or form, Christians. They didn’t even claim to be Christians. They literally put Christians to death, the fuck are you on?
@deeperdeion, get your head out of the President’s ass for five seconds and think rationally for a moment.
Labeling the Islamic scumbags who kill their fellow Muslims, Christians, Jews, and homosexuals of all faiths, “radical Islamists” is not labeling all Muslims “radicals” under some giant umbrella. It is simply pointing out a radical subset of the much larger group. These radical groups do not care what they are called anyway and those who join their terrorist groups do not care what they’re called either. You do not join an organization to kill people because you are offended. You join because you believe in what the organization stands for.
There are radical Christian extremists as well. Feel free to call them out too. I’ll give you a good example. Just like the radical Islamic Imam who called for the compassionate murdering of homosexuals in Orlando before the shooting, you also have radical so-called Christian preachers that not only lauded the massacre on gays in Orlando but openly advocate it. Of course, he too is but a minority of a larger group and words, no matter how vile, are far less powerful than actions by most radical Islamists; but we can condemn this behavior and call these nuts out for who they are. You can call out groups like Westboro Baptist Church as being radical Christians and other Christians will actually agree with you. Why is this any different for Muslims? Why are they delicate snowflakes? Because they are a minority?
The Islamic State is Islamic. They are Islamic fundamentalists called salafists. Stop kidding yourself and stop playing this stupid political correct game. The President is an tip-toeing coward who thinks he’s the MLK of the world. This is not a psychological strategy. He is wrong.
Eh, this isn’t any more Islamic than the branch Davidians were Christian. It’s like that new fad, libertarian socialists, they are no more libertarian than I am a Victorias Secret model. Tagging radical to anything just helps them. I know I must be crazy, but this is about hearts and minds. An us vs them conflict that ISIS is winning. Every time we tack the term on, people around the world are insulted. They are that much easier to be swayed by evil then. I know then they obviously are all bad if they can be swayed that easily right? I don’t think so. I mean, are all Russians bad for turning to communism? Are all catholics evil for the crusades? No, at least I don’t think so. Muslims need to rally behind good, and we give them no reason to by insulting them and being, well, ignorant of their culture. Sure, it most likley won’t make millions of them put on bomb vests, but it certainly isn’t going to make us any allies or friends. At this point, with how bad Islamophobia is here, I’m surprised we even have embassies from OIC member states. We need to get our shit together if we want to win. We need to be an obvious beacon of good, and not look like hostile bigots. In a fight between evil and the down right bad, it’s hard to feel motivated.
That being said I clutch my ar15 pretty tight, and sort of hope some douche messes with me, I want a piece of this war. Yeah i said it, I’m that sick of them. If i wasn’t such a pussy I’d love to join up and take the fight to ISIS. I also think this is largely the fault of the Obama administration, leaving Iraq was the worst mistake he could have made. But we are never going to win if we can’t get Muslims on our side. Right or wrong, left, right, republican, democrat, whatever, we have to figure that out, or this war is going to last forever. And our enimies are the only ones prepared for a fight that long.
Again, I ask, why do you believe Muslims are delicate snowflakes that just cannot stand to hear the term “radical” when it comes to describe the very same people that many Muslims deem as being “not truly Islamic” to begin with? These are people willing to blow themselves up in the name of their religion. They are not SJWs on college campuses who are offended by trigger words.
I’ve yet to see any evidence that this label “helps them” in any way. I also do not see any evidence that our President is winning over “hearts and minds” by taking this politically correct stance. If I recall, most of the radicals abroad and even domestically take more offense that the United States, led by Barack Obama, is bombing the hell out the Islamic State in Syria. In fact, Omar Mateen went to Facebook on the night of the Pulse nightclub massacre to write, “The real muslims will never accept the filthy ways of the west” …“You kill innocent women and children by doing us airstrikes..now taste the Islamic state vengeance. America and Russia stop bombing the Islamic state.” He also said more of the same thing in the club as he was committing his act of terror on innocent people.
So, I’m sorry if I’m failing to see any evidence that “people around the world are insulted.” This the most slipperiest of slope justifications to why anyone would ever join a radicalized ideological movement like al-Qaeda or ISIL. It reminds me of a Cracked.com article (don’t worry I’m not using as a real source of fact; just for anecdotal observation) that was describing some of the stuff featured in the Islamic State’s propaganda magazines like Dabiq. The author made an interesting observation about the new use of the word Daesh as some kind of alternative to “radical Islamist” and a way to really ‘piss them off’ or something to that extent. From the what the author found in ISIL’s own propaganda:
Daesh is an acronym for the original name ISIS fought under before declaring their “caliphate” (a formal religious-led Islamic state) and, so the argument goes, they just hate it when you call them that. But from what I can tell, ISIS doesn’t seem to care much about that themselves. On Page 38 of Issue 4, they note that some Westerners call them Daesh matter-of-factly, without seeming to care much about it either way. It’s never brought up again and barely comes off as an annoyance within the context of the article.
“They even imitated the nusayriyyah and secularist opposition by labelling the Islamic State as ‘Daesh’ and 'Tandhim ad-Dawlah,’ in a manner precisely mimicking the satellite channels and palace scholars of Al Salul and Qat …”
Attention Internet: People who celebrate pictures of civilians they’ve killed as well as pictures of their own friend’s murdered corpses don’t give a shit what you call them. I’ve heard it said that one man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom-fighter. But the folks at ISIS don’t consider “freedom” a good thing (they refer to themselves as “slaves of Allah” on virtually every page), and they are happy calling themselves “Soldiers of Terror” …
Also, if the use of “radical Islam” in the West was such powerful recruitment tool for Islamic State, wouldn’t more of their magazine covers look like this:
No, Obama is not doing this out of concern of ‘touching the hearts and minds’ of fellow Muslims; although he may think he’s doing this. He is really doing it because he wants to seem like the world unifier of minorities. That’s why he brings up ludicrously false moral equivalences like the Crusades to try to bring some kind of equality of blame to the situation. He wants to seem like the rational objector of an ideological conflict between two opposing sides while simultaneously bombing the living hell out of the enemy. It’s incompatible and that’s why it is not working. If you are going to be in war with an enemy, you clearly identify the enemy. When we went to war with Japan, we called them Imperial Japan. We didn’t take some kind of cultural PC approach to spare the feelings of Japanese Americans to make us look more morally compassionate. (Not to be confused with the unlawful internment of the Japanese either which is a separate issue.)
Also, like Obama, you too totally misunderstand the Crusades; you also do not understand the power of ideology, which is what this and many wars are about. When groups like the Nazis, or the communists, or radical Islam commit these heinous acts of aggression on their own people and on people of other nations they do not do so because they believe they are evil - they do so because they believe it is righteous. That’s because the ideology itself and its adherents sell people on this belief system, despite any rational or reasonable objection to the contrary. Muslims, and even some non-Muslims, join these groups because they are ideologically inclined to do so. Holy war in the name of your faith and for a global caliphate is far more powerful than any outside factors.
But ultimately, I agree with you…kind of. We don’t need to tread lightly by tip-toeing around the obvious by suppressing speech because it seems hateful to the enemy. No, we need to have more moderate Muslims join with us and denounce these extremists. I want more moderates to be bigoted of the political radicals within their own fold. That’s how you change hearts and minds of those not already indoctrinated into salafism.
The rest, who are ideologically steadfast, should just be bombed off the planet.
‘Exorcist’ director William Friedkin says Vatican invited him to document the real thing
William Friedkin, acclaimed director of “The Exorcist,” says he’s now seen the real thing — and filmed it.
Talking to an audience at the Cannes Film Festival in France on 05/19, the 80-year-old filmmaker said that the Vatican invited him to film an exorcism earlier in May. The version he constructed for the 1973 supernatural horror film, Friedkin added, was not that far from the actual rite he recently documented.
“I don’t think I will ever be the same having seen this astonishing thing,” he said, according to Agence France-Presse. “I am not talking about some cult, I am talking about an exorcism by the Catholic Church in Rome.”
