rita hayworth, orson welles (orson the magnificent), joseph cotten (jo-jo the great) and agnes moorehead (calliope aggie) at the mercury wonder show, a magic show by the mercury theatre produced by welles and cotten. it was performed for the US Armed Forces in 1943.
rita hayworth and orson welles fell in love during rehearsals and got married a few months later. sadly, after the opening night, columbia boss harry cohn forbade hayworth of appearing in the show. her part was replaced by marlene dietrich.
