Game that initially appears to be a porn VN starring a Perfectly Generic Male Protagonist, except when you get to the "here's how the sex mechanics work" portion of the intro the girl has a Magnitude 10 klutz moment and accidentally kills him, upon which the viewpoint switches to her and the rest of the game is a reverse investigative procedural about trying to cover up the fake lead's death.
(To be clear, while the game's narrative tone is moderately satirical, the non-fakeout lead herself isn't played for laughs, and she's actually pretty traumatised about accidentally killing a random hookup. There's a bad ending if you max out her mental stress meter where she ends up confessing to a murder she technically didn't commit.)
Good news: if youβre currently laying around and not producing anything, you are a credit to your species.
Itβs recently been found that even hive insects rest. Bees will play with colorful toys. Ants sleep for about 1 minute but they do it so frequently it amounts to a few hours per day. Even trees take breaks.
The only things that work without rest are machines; literally everything that lives requires rest.
EVERYTHING THAT LIVES REQUIRES REST. STOP JUDGING YOURSELF FOR NOT BEING A ROBOT.
robots require very frequent breaks! welding machines generally have it programmed in that they canβt run so long they melt themselves. ive overseen two different manufacturing robots now and each of them were fragile, finicky idiots that require constant maintenance and repair. they pause in between moves, in between jobs. youβre always keeping an eye on programming errors, on coolant levels, on heat. youβre always pulling bits of scrap out of joints, sweeping up debris, washing off nozzles and untangling hoses. and even then it snaps a chain and takes a whole morningβs vacation.
even robots need downtime.

MY FUCKING CAR
hehehe.. poptart light switch cover time :3
i think when actors need to leave a show for whatever reason but the character is important and doesnt need to be written off / writing them off would make the story worse i think they should just hire a new actor for the character but, and this is the crucial bit, hire a similar-looking actor of a different gender. Yeppp they look different bc they transitioned between seasons. Obviously
I figured it out

fantastic. i love it. i posted this after my wife said it yesterday and as i was doing it i was like "this can't be an original thought. as soon as i hit post someone's going to say 'you stole this from a tweet from 2014' and i'll say 'no, i stole it from my beautiful wife.'"
keep getting glimpses into an alternate timeline where plurality is more normalized and you can buy shitty tshirts and mugs about it
Like this?
Some time ago (I think in 2021) I had to go see a neurologist over really scary symptoms that resembled seizures. I was a nervous wreck about what I was feeling and had barely slept all week, which seemed to be apparent to the docβs assistant when I sat down in the exam room for questioning or whatever. Dude was pretty young and soft spoken, around my age. He was laser focused doing something on one of those tablet-laptop Surface things as I spoke, presumably writing down my symptoms.
Midway through talking about my symptoms my voice audibly started shaking as I was describing them, clearly upset.
In the middle of my monologue he turns the tablet to face me, closes whatever program he has open and the wallpaper is this fucking collage of pictures of lord farquaad from shrek, lovingly decorated. Dude just sat there placidly smiling at me until I noticed and stopped dead in the middle of a sentence. We sat there in silence like this for like a solid minute before I started wheezing laughing. Before I could even say anything else or process it he picked up the tablet and wordlessly left the room, and I just sat there dumbfounded until the doctor showed up. 10/10 doctor experience tbh
I didnβt own a cell phone at the time to get a photo so this rendition from memory is all I can provide you
ID: a digital drawing of a man in scrubs sitting on a wheeled stool, serenely smiling with his elbow on a rolling cart, where a tablet is flipped open to show an approximation of the Lord Farquaad screensaver. end ID
Reblogging this bc itβs making rounds again
i don't really want to weight in on the "using big words in your writing is ableist" discourse happening on tiktok because i'm like 90% certain it's an anti-intellectual psyop to stir up drama in online circles to promote the use of ai to summarize literally everything and thus feeding the LLMs and lowering the populace's mistrust of such tools but i also have to say: dictionaries and thesauruses are the most accessible they've ever been. if you use an e-reader of any kind you can look up a word without leaving the page. there's a plethora of online dictionaries and if you just type a word + "meaning" into google it'll usually give you a definition. we used to have pocket dictionaries we used when reading in class. i have two on my shelf right now that i used in high school. stop letting the fascists purposefully misuse anti-ableism rhetoric to trick you into never thinking again.
you are so right
