recruitment has always been daehwi’s favorite time of year . maybe it’s a little sorority of him , but he loves getting to meet new people and invite strong-minded , socially responsible men into the brotherhood that has helped him feel comfortable in his own skin again . as social chair , daehwi gets to help plan their events and speak to the potential pledges at the beginning of their events .
tonight is a casual brotherhood night - a mario kart tournament that has prizes for winners and plenty of bar snacks for everyone to munch on . he’s pretty proud of it , all things considered . daehwi addresses the small group of recruits and brothers , explaining the way the tournament is structured and that they can help themselves to the snacks and drinks in the kitchen . as daehwi turns things over to november , he looks to his left and sees a guy standing with his back to the wall looking slightly uncomfortable .
and my god , he is the most beautiful boy daehwi has ever seen . as soon as november lets them begin , daehwi makes his way over to the boy . because he is gorgeous because it’s his job as social chair to make everyone feel safe and welcome in the house .
“ hey , i’m daehwi . are you a freshman ?? ”
change has never been something that was easy for dongsub . it wasn’t easy when he submitted his application to this university , it wasn’t easy when he bought his plane ticket , it wasn’t easy when he stood in the empty one bedroom apartment he and his twin would be calling home for the next few years . but none of those experiences can hold a candle to the sinking feeling of dread that sits in his stomach as he nestles himself into the corner of the sitting room he’s somehow found himself in .
he can’t even see the stranger that dragged him along to this house anymore . and now he can’t leave because someone’s started speaking and the door is too far away for him to slip out without anyone noticing and on top of that it would just be rude and woojin told him it would be good to make friends and oh , god the room is getting smaller and smaller and he’s suffocating .
and then there’s a voice beside him . it’s a familiar voice , strangely , until dongsub looks up from his shoes in the direction it’s coming from . oh , it’s the guy who was just talking . oh , he’s even more attractive up close . ‘ huh ?? ’ don’t talk to him , you’ll look like an idiot , ‘ um ... yea - yeah ... i’m a freshman ... i’m new ... ’
