Some things described by SJM are like knitting in TV shows.
someone said rhysand could pull nesta but nesta couldn't pull rhysand, however I disagree bc nesta has accidentally pulled rhysand already in canon, he's just very bad at recognising that most of his anger at her is sexually motivated
And people constantly misunderstand how disgusted Nesta is with men in general, Rhysand's pretty face and alluring smile aren't enough to impress her.
She's like: Cassian is an annoying dog, Rhysand is that another HL of Feyre, Azriel ⦠he is an Allan, Lucien is a barbar wanting to take Elain, Grayson ⦠his only redeeming quality is that Elain likes him, the moment she doesn't he receives a slap in his face, Tamlin that ex HL of Feyre. Helion - horny impediment in her life. Eris - horny impediment in her life but with a prepared ring. And this is why Nesta is my favourite , she's a manhater. Cassian is lucky to be her mate, that's the only thing that partially protects him.
Hereās the thing with Cassian and Mor:
Your guy has a best girl friend and he thinks sheās amazing: great, love it, love a man who respects women, hope she trained him well
He thinks sheās beautiful and perfect: sure, i guess
They fucked: as long as thereās nothing between them now and itās all in the pasā
Theyāve been pretending theyāre fucking for 500 years: š©
Including in front of you: š© š©
Sheās tells you to stay away from him multiple times: š©š©š©
So he pretends you donāt exist whenever sheās around: š©š©š©š©
She tells you donāt deserve kindness and thinks you should be sent to a torture prison: š©š©š©š©š©
He agrees: š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š© š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š© š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©š©
None of this ever gets resolved:
"That pairing would never be canon" and what of it? I'm only supposed to ship what the church tells me to or something?
I just came to the conclusion that Cassian never fell in love with Nesta (and probably vice versa).
The destined mates trope is deeply flawed because if itās not properly developed, it makes the relationship feel forced rather than organic. It removes the need for two people to truly connect, grow, and choose each other.
The reason ACOMAF works so well (enough to make us dismiss its problems) is because Feyre falls in love with Rhys before she knows about the bond. We see them falling for each otherāthe banter, the vulnerability, the slow realization, the giggling and kicking feet effect.
But in ACOSF? Thereās no falling in love moment. No deep conversation where they truly get to know one another, no softness, no spark, no moment of sudden shyness or realization. Just forced proximity, fights, and sex.
No wonder he never said he loved herābecause he actually doesnāt.
The destined mates trope is deeply flawed because if itās not properly developed, it makes the relationship feel forced rather than organic. It removes the need for two people to truly connect, grow, and choose each other.
I can't even describe how much I agree with this. Their mating bond is brought up only when the story and people need to highlight that Nessian are the endgame yet ignored the rest of the time.
As 1. "Go girl!" when Elain mentions she's doesn't own Lucien anything but Nesta is a bitch for not accepting Cassian's attention.
2. The reason why Cassian had to curate Nesta's training was because he is her mate and Rhysand suspects this. That's why he organized all this show. He wanted to appease his brother, who was a tad sad and jealous about Feysand's bond.
3. The Solstice scene and the one before the Blood Rite. How entitled Cassian feels regarding Nesta is disgusting. I would understand if he really hid the information as not to pressure her, kinda the reason why Rhys did that to Feyre, but he does exactly that - pressuresd Nesta to acknowledge the bond after keeping it a secret.
4. The bond isn't even properly shown, because if we should consider that it's strong enough to cloud someone's mind (e.g. how Nesta was ready to die on the battlefield near Cassian) why did Cassian accepted so easily Nesta's kidnapping to the Blood Rite. I understand, plot-wise the girls had to have this arc, but why couldn't we see Cassian more mad. Just show that Azriel and Rhys had to knock him down and it would've been better than "Nesta will manage" and 'you'll know is she dies" - *insert horrified/disgusted face*. As if they couldn't just kill Nesta in her sleep or as if worse things than death can't happen (starts with r ends with ape). But yeah Cassian be chill, who cares.
And THEY DON'T TALK, why Cassian loves Nesta? Unclear but she's kinda sexy. Why Nesta loves Cassian? Unclear but he's kinda good. The book is a fanfic and with pain in my heart I mean this as an offense. ( I really don't like to insinuate that fanfic is lesser writing, because it's not but here it feels like SJM has a total different vision of Nessian development which she failed to show on page, and the entire plot is a fanfic inspired by something that exists only in her head)
Ask me how happiness feels and I'll show you this
The Prompt list for Neris Week 2026 may have accidentally escaped containment. Unfortunately, all records have been reduced to emojis. Can you crack the code?
The full reveal is coming soon, but until then we'd love to hear your guesses. Which day do you think will be your favorite?
Hey, look! Spotted Lucien and Eris in the wild
The pregnancy plot from SF feels so illogical that one day I was seriously investigating the anatomy of newborn bats. Just so you know, babies of every species are very flexible at birth. Human babies are flexible - their skull bones aren't connected so they can squish. In the same way, bats are born with soft wings which harden shortly after.
Also, what kind of hips should an Illyrian woman have to be more special than an ordinary female body, which can give birth to a child weighing up to 5 kg?
And of course, someone could always refute that Illyrians aren't bats and respectively, hard wings in uterus is part of the canon, but the whole ordeal doesn't stop being stupid as the logic of biological processes was the least of the problems with this pregnancy plot.
*deep sigh* anyway, newborn bats are as ugly as newborn humans, but the baby form of both is so cute. Damned evolution and the big eyes of these fragile beings making me, a serious woman, go "awwwww, what a cutie patootie!" š„ŗ
As much as I like to rag on the IC for locking Nesta up, the fact that in an original draft they were going to send Nesta to a fucking war camp, after she has PTSD from being in a war, and said war camp is filled with raging misogynists, is just mind boggling. Thank fuck SJM changed that plot thread because holy shit that would make Rhys and Feyre the scum of the earth.
For who wants to compare the text.
As everyone may or may not know, @theladyofbloodshed sadly took a step back this year after having run Neris Week for several years. We've got some huge shoes to fill, but this year's team has already been hard at work to transition this event week into something really special across not just Tumblr, but also Instagram and Reddit!
Without further ado, and in alphabetical order, please welcome this year's mod team! behind the cut!

I don't know if any of y'all have seen the unofficial acotar musical that pixelplayhouse has been developing over the last 6 months or so, but they released a Rhysand song from his bargain with Feyre under the mountain a couple weeks ago and it just goes to show that any adaptation these books get are going to completely miss what sjm actually wrote and later swept under the rug.
First: The artwork accompanying the songs do lot trying to make the whole situation better than it was.
This is supposed to be when Rhysand makes a bargain with Feyre. They've portrayed him standing a respectable distance away, noticeably NOT twisting the bone sticking out of her arm.
Next the dress. So much for 2 panels of sheer fabric and a belt. I get that YT won't allow nudity, but this is just a dress.
Furthermore, some lyrics and the picture fails to take into account the fact that Rhys forcibly drugged her with faerie wine. One line says something like, "don't keep your goblet full" but the fact that he forced her to drink is essentially nonexistent.
And then this is how they decide to portray the dancing. I guess if this is how everyone in the pro crowd sees it, i get why they'd want to excuse Rhys for everything, but when Lucien comes to see Feyre after Rhysand trots her out the first time, we get on page confirmation that the dancing was not wholesome:
Again: I get that some stuff can't be shown on sites like YT, but to utterly take the teeth out of these scenes is a disservice to what was written
Overall, the lyrics are pretty close to the book, but they threw in this line to absolve Rhysand of forcing Feyre to do anything and making it look like she just played along for...no reason? I guess?
I guess I figured they'd do something like this, but it was still disappointing to see
Honestly itās kind of disgusting to downplay what really happened. Feyre was basically naked in front of that crowd each night and was sexualized against her will while drunk to the point that there are gaps in memory.
Even if you want to look at it as SJMās attempt at a degradation kink or some kind of slave kink, pretending she was in a modest dress dancing normally is just deceitful.
If people have to hide what happened to make Rhysand look good and absolve him of guilt even in fanwork, it just makes it seem like people are in denial. If what he did wasnāt as bad like people love to say, why not portray it exactly like the book, word for word following the descriptions? Why not show the dress is sheer even if you canāt show her privates fully? Why not show that sheās dancing between his legs in what is implied to be a lap dance? Why not show him holding her arm with the bone sticking out? How he twisted it before nearly walking away, putting her in more pain to coerce her into accepting the bargain? If itās not that bad, show it for what it is.
Even if people like Rhysand, accept what he did in canon. Accept his actions were twisted and fucked up. Especially in this particular moment.
the fanfiction inside my head should be considered lost media
Iām back on my bullshit thinking about ACOSF again.
Comparing Nesta and Feyreās journeys is just so . . .wrong. Regardless of who you like more, when you take the time to reflect on how both of their love stories āendā, objectively, one is at best an abuse victim, at worst a horror story.
Feyre gets everything she ever wanted, absurdly quickly. Five homes, endless power, a baby boy within a couple years of her marriage when many fae try for hundreds of years. Her mate/husband is a piece of shit, but she forgives and loves him regardless. All of the most powerful people in the Night Court, and not a single one who will ever be anything less than an echo chamber for Feyre.
Nesta is berated like a dog for all of ACOSF. She is trapped, only let out to complete tasks, her own bodyās abilities hidden away from her, and used as a sexual object to control a man. She is emotionally berated by her jailer while he continues to fuck her. All of her sharp edges are filed down until she is acceptable. When she steps out of line, she is then physically abused via the hike, forced to carry more than her body is meant to endure. The abuse continues mentally, despite the man she is with knowing she is suicidal.
Yet, Nesta endures. She does as she is expected. She breaks. Against all odds, she survives the Blood Rite, despite no one in the Inner Circle caring to try and help her.
She saves the entire Night Court royal family. High Lord, High Lady, son.
By the end, mere months after Nyxās birth, Nesta still has no place in the Night Court. She is emotionally abused, still. She exists to serve. Her te refuses to defend her, even when her life is threatened. The only home she has is very nearly trapped inside of, being forced to other perform extreme physical activity, or ask another person to let her leave her own house.
Nesta is an abuse victim. I honestly do not care what mean things sheās said to Feyre when they were literal children. I do not care that the ācruelā voice in Feyreās head is Nestaās. That does not justify or excuse that Nesta is trapped and emotionally and mentally abused on her best of days. She has nothing in this new life that is hers. Everything is held within the palm of Rhysandās hand.
Feyre has gotten everything she ever wanted. She has faced no consequences for the hundreds of lives sheās utterly ruined. For the theft or laws she broke. She is loved, cherished, protected, adored.
Nesta is eternally paying the price for childhood sins. She is trapped, violated, and has become the thing her mother wanted her to be. A woman taking the abuse men offer, all for the sake of her family.
Nesta will never see the world. She will never know what the world has to offer for a woman with a good name and coin to spare. Nesta is a horror story.
She still doesn't have a bank account in her name.
She is bound to a house she can't freely/easily leave.
And the mating bond is a very important thing that shackled her to a partner who has a hard time seeing the best in her.
At the end of book Nesta thinks how she has to earn love AND everyone around her is responsible for this.
"Nesta Doesn't Want to be Coddled"
I'm sorry are we talking about the same woman who used her terrifying, cauldron given magic to turn a house into a friend who gives her chocolate cake and smutty books? The same woman who nearly cried because Ember stuck up for her?
This woman longs to be coddled. She is yearning for it. She has never been coddled in her entire life, not even when she was a child. She is in a major coddling deficit.
