the way peter was frozen when "mj" kissed him and took off his mask. the way he was SOBBING after she said his name, and "remembered" him. the way he completely broke down, hugging her so tight. the way his voice wavers when he said "i missed you so much."

the way he probably thought that after four years, it will all be okay.

the way it was all taken from him in a matter of seconds.

Yes to all of this but also, I can't stop thinking about how Peter probably kept his mask on the whole time because the loss of his anonymity is what got him into this situation in the first place.

As much as he might have thought he could trust Frank with his identity, it feels too similar to the trust he felt for Beck before being betrayed by him. He probably could have gotten away with using his real name with Banner, but there's the chance it would made him remember. The risk was too great. The responsibility was too great. So he does it alone.

People knew who he was before and it put everyone he ever loved in danger. He went to great lengths and sacrificed EVERYTHING to make them forget the name and face of Peter Parker. To make sure the people he loved would be kept safe. He couldn't risk his identity being revealed again under any circumstance, or else it all would have been for nothing.

one thing i’ve noticed about iasip that i love is that in some recent seasons they end with a more ‘serious’ episode

s11 - the gang goes to hell pt 2 (they all accept the fact that they’re horrible people but they still have love for each other while in the face of death)

s12 - dennis’ double life (dennis literally leaves the gang in order to be with his child) ((but then he comes BACK in s13 because he loves the gang too much even if he doesn’t want to admit it))

s13 - mac finds his pride (self explanatory) ((the focal cameras that they only used for this One episode really is the icing on the cake - AND danny devito showing why he is an impeccable actor))

s15 - the gang carries a corpse up a mountain (charlie’s heartbreaking meltdown) ((charlie day needs to do more drama this performance was genuinely jaw dropping))

s17 - the golden bachelor live (frank realizing that he’s screwed up in life and he wants to change for the better for samantha) ((another example of danny devito being just amazing at what he does)) (((AND the tribute to lynne marie oh my god)))

an honorable mention is kaitlin’s performance in s17 e2 - frank is in a coma when she finds out frank is “dead” the sheer heartbreak and even though she hates the man he is, he still raised her in one way or another and he was the father figure in her life

don’t forget dennis takes a mental health day!!! it’s the most profound one in my opinion!!!

not only does it give us all these incredible details about him as a character, and how it explores his mental health and the ways in which he navigates it, and then watching his personal journey since seasons like s10 to get to where he is now and also looking back and pairing it with s17 and how far he’s come, how he’s even passed his self-help techniques onto the rest of the gang, the steps he takes towards self-regularion and what’s going on in his head, how it links to so many other interesting episodes like Charlie Rules The World and The Gang Tends Bar, etc, all of which already is so cool to see pulled together like that, but it’s also just so fucking meta and reflective of real life.

like the commentary on modern day technology and the fundamental lack of compassion and genuine deficit in real life interaction, everything is online, on apps, through the phone, you gotta call ten robots before you can talk to an actual person, the phone is the key and humans aren’t human anymore but it’s not your fault its the system, like its all just so clever and layered

its also literally my second fave episode ever i mean it fucking ends with him ripping out and eating the heart of a man parodying elon musk. its fucking genius.

also the whole thing drives me nuts but the line where he’s on the phone to the car company girl and he’s like “daisy! DAISY!!!! daisyyyy, it’s just you and me! it’s just yOU and mE, DAisy, just you and me, fighting the good fight against a broken system enginEERED to drive us bOTH SO CRAZy that we have to taKE DAYS OFF for oUR MENTAL HEALTH!!!!!” literally makes every fucking hair on my body stand up on end it gives me fuckin chills dude i can’t even thoroughly explain why but ahhhh man episode of all time
