I’ve been following you for a while and consider us friends. Normally I’ll just ignore the constant social justice warrior behavior on the dash, but it’s getting out of hand. You are trying to call people ableist for using text templates then you yourself post a photo wall that is just pictures of text. I get you’re trying to be fair and accommodating, but it’s become so much so that you are almost seeming like a “white knight” - please stop speaking on behalf of everyone as if doing us a favor
let me preface this response by saying that at any point that i make anyone uncomfortable with anything , you’re free to unfollow , block , etc. without ever needing to explain or justify. whatever makes you comfortable because it’s what i would do and i want others to keep themselves safe and happy on their own blogs.
now , i’ve left the two posts you mentioned up so that it can be seen you’re right when it comes to the contradiction. the post re : photoshopped texts also could’ve been worded much better , as after re–reading it , it does come off very condescending and nose–in–the–air which isn’t okay! and i’m grateful that you mentioned the lyric post because sometimes i do things and post shitposts like that without thinking. i’m human just like anyone else and i make mistakes and i actively work toward correcting those mistakes.
the inaccessibility of the photoshopped text posts and fancy fonts ( the latter to which i will no longer be using on my posts ) has been documented on this site within the rpc , though. several people have reblogged the psas that bring light to the issue which is how i even found out or i’d be none the wiser. that being said , when people are purposely using these photoshopped bits of text for aesthetic reasons when it’s being brought to attention as inaccessible to assistive devices like screen readers––– instead of understanding why it could be considered ableist and having conversations about it , you’re sending an anon about social justice.
here’s where i have a slight issue : if we’re friends , you could’ve messaged me privately with your concerns or sent the ask off anon. the anon didn’t need to happen at all. we’re adults and i like to believe we can be adults and hold each other accountable when we fuck up. that extends to pointing out the lyric post because i slipped up and didn’t think about it , which sounds ridiculous all things considered , but i genuinely let it fly right over my head. i’m not perfect , i’ll never claim to be. so , thank you for that.
but as i stated in prefacing , you can unfollow / block / etc. at any point and i will never ask why or be upset about it. if there’s as many instances that make you feel uncomfortable as you’ve alluded to in the anon , i would actually just rather you make your dash comfortable for you and unfollow. at the end of the day , it’s tumblr. we have to curate spaces that are fun and enjoyable to ourselves , no matter what that entails.
