I 100% get where the popular take is coming from, the strong reaction towards people that try very hard to avoid H.azbin, because some people are so extremely childish about their hatred towards the show that they'd be a complete asshole to someone in person for liking it and that's not okay. People should be able to like H.azbin without being harassed so much, and they shouldn't have to worry about bringing it up IRL or being treated as cringe for wanting to cosplay as the characters or whatever. Cringe culture is shitty. People shitting on H.azbin every chance they get is shitty. That behavior needs to stop 100% and even though I don't like H.azbin, when I see bullying based around it I get very upset. And this is directed to even showing the slightest interest in the show or characters which is bonkers. I'm not in the fandom but I get it, we're scared to post pictures openly of the H.azbin plushies we bought when we were still into the show and take them places publicly because we're scared people will harass us.

But like, this being an issue and the existence of cool fans does not automatically make every H.azbin fan a saint that is incapable of harassing others as well. The H.azbin fandom has had a track record of being horrendous towards victims, using the show as an excuse to push things like the idea of "the perfect victim", and a number of triggering things without being conscious about the need for warnings or being very poorly educated on the subject. Lots of us left the fandom because we were specifically harassed out of it. There are absolutely cool people in the community, including fellow victims, that I would defend with my life that myself and Lee are still great friends with. If you as a victim have found comfort in the H.azbin community that's cool, but that does not erase the experiences of others that have found it a terrible place. These types of conversations are made ten times more difficult and triggering in real life.

Let me put it this way, if someone in real life was into H.arry P.otter, for instance, I wouldn't assume they were a transphobe or knew anything about J.KR's shit, I'd hear them out. But as a trans person I would of course be worried, and though I'm not going to accuse them of anything if I don't hear them out, it's not really my responsibility as a trans person to do that and open myself up to potential crap. I do not have the energy, especially with the stuff that is going on in the world right now.

I think we can sit down with the contents of H.azbin, along with what V.iv has done as a creator, and understand why victims both don't have the energy and also aren't intentionally being malicious in this. I'm sorry, I just do not have the energy to, in real life, walk someone through the fact I really do not like the demon shows because a lot of the relationships in them mimic abuse I and others have gone through. But it's not a simple matter of just not bringing it up either, even if I'm not very close to the person.

If I interact with H.azbin in anyway I need it to be an opt in experience, otherwise there is a high risk of me being triggered, so it is something that does have to be addressed. If someone told me they were into H.azbin in real life and I didn't know them well, I would respectfully back away for the sake of my own mental health. It doesn't matter how cool or kind you know yourself to be, people like me can not know this unless you are self reflective enough to address issues like these and not assume it's just hate.

At the end of the day it's very important to separate harassment and intentionally being shitty to someone, from people just understandably not wanting to engage with something and being wary of the people that do. Not because it makes them bad people, but because they have their own experiences with harassment. Speak out about harassment first and foremost, otherwise you're just returning the favor and spreading more aggression. The harassed hurting the harassed hurting the harassed is not a helpful cycle, and people like me would be so much more comfortable interacting with H.az fans if half the posts about this issue weren't just lumping in victims that are wary to interact with harassers.

My alters asked me to make a flag for the "quest" attraction my brain came up with in my dream, so...

I did research so hopefully it doesn't resemble a pre-existing flag. The red symbolizes action, the blue calm / loyalty, the green harmony, and the orange / yellow enthusiasm. The pastel flag is for "unattached questing" where you desire to do specific tasks with someone, but not to be in a long term relationship.

The more saturated flag is for Attached Questing, where you desire to do specific tasks with someone in the long term, or desire to have a specific relationship with someone and do specific tasks with them in the long term.

My fandom hot take is that while I don't think Catholics or Christians in fandom spaces are some instrinsict evil or anything, I do think going into the fandoms of works specifically about the importance of breaking free from Christian or Catholic attitudes to make it about your religion, is meanspirited no matter the person's original intent.

Taking it a step further and bringing it back to selfshipping, I think selfshipping with queer characters from these stories for the soul purpose of putting them in a "Godly" heterosexual relationship with you, is also meanspirited, especially if they've been specified to have a preference for or only be attracted to the same gender. I don't condone harrasement, but I think it should be far more normalized to not want this in your space.

Yes, this includes taking characters that are specifically written to have non traditional sexual interests and cramming them into heterosexual marriages with sex that is deemed as "pure " and "Godly", especially with the intention of healing them from "perversion".

It actually should be far easier for people like me to feel comfortable in spaces about leaving the religions that hurt us, without having to worry about some Christian or Catholic that thinks they're God's favorite and therefore the main character making it about themselves. Yes, I agree with curating your own space, fandoms aren't your safe space unless you make them, and obviously we can't control other people, but it makes things harder for people like me when it's not treated as valid to be annoyed or upset by this.

Don't get me wrong, I am such a strong advocated for people being self indulgent with their selfships and catering it to themselves, which includes imagining your F/O participating in your religion and cultural practices. I love that shit! However, I really don't agree with this idea I see in the selfship community that this suddenly makes bigotry okay, nor am I down with the spaces that accept bigotry because within selfships it's always painted at something else, such as personal preference or simply a "cultural difference" that isn't hurting anyone (despite the fact these attitudes have been proven to cause harm).

I'm sorry, but even if you are a Catholic or Christian that is drawn to these works for other reasons, it is still important to sit with the criticisms they are making about these religions and the reasons why so many people find this liberating. It actually is important to dissect why you still expect queer people to be in heterosexual relationships, why you see heterosexual marital connections and sex as inherently more pure than anything else, and why you have such a strong focus on conversion, even when someone is clearly happier without Christianity or Catholicism in their lives. I'm going to be very blunt; I have never met any of these selfshippers that haven't used this as an excuse to start trying to convert real life people within the community.

I also think the hypocrisy of it all is something that really needs to be discussed more often. If I went into the fandom for a Christian or Catholic show, movie, etc. and made it all about hating the religion and being a heretic, people would understandably get mad at me for not actively engaging with the actual themes of the work. It's not my space and there's a reason I don't go into them. In the same vein I'm sorry, but I don't think ultra Christians and Catholics should be entering heretic spaces and making them about finding their religion again.

Yes, this! I think more people really need to analyze why it's viewed as socially acceptable for Christians and Catholics to turn everything into another way to convert people to their religion, and why they feel the need to turn every heretic character into a believer or every queer person into a straight relationship. Spoiler alert, it's bigotry and a refusal to analyze why someone would want to leave in the first place.

Could I get a letter from my queerplatonic F/O OC Brutus? He's a grumpy angel that fell from Heaven. He's technically a hero and not a villain, but it really depends how you look at it and your writing style suits him. He has a very pessimistic view on the afterlife, but I and my girlfriend helped him see that not everyone in Hell was monsters and escape from the grasps of Heaven's control on him. Just a thank you letter for everything my girlfriend and I have done for him, and letting us know how important we are to him would be really nice. He gets straight to the point, so don't pressure yourself to write anything long or anything.

It's the kitten Strawberry, falling down to literal Hell to ensure you receive a very special envelope! Putting the cat down, you take the envelope from its mouth and pull out the letter as Strawberry plays on the warm stones. Noticing it's addressed to both you and your girlfriend, you show it to her as well.

Dear Tripster and Pinky,

Hey life buddies, how's it hanging? Probably pretty bad, considering we're in Hell and all, but I thought a letter from me might make things a little better. I'm going to get straight to the fucking point because that's my style, so listen up!

Thank you for not giving up on me. Don't get me wrong, the others didn't see me as a monster once they actually got to know me, but none of them really wanted to become my friend the same way you and Cor did. I can't blame them considering what I used to be like, but all that shit came from Heaven's indoctrination, I fully believed all sinners were just deprived losers that loved hurting others!

You two really helped show me that not everyone in Hell was a gigantic asshole and that I actually had a future here. You made me realize that I can choose my own path in life and that I don't have to be so judgemental of myself and everyone all the time.
