Steve's baseball team decide that they want to play a prank on their coach.

They get shirts screen-printed with Steve's face on it and something silly he always says, and then they all wear them to practice. They time how long it takes Steve to notice (nine minutes and only because the team had a bad case of giggles).

It's a funny prank.

Steve gets a kick out of it.

Unbeknownst to Steve or the team, the guy who made their shirts is an old friend of Eddie 'left Hawkins and got famous' Munson.

It was a known secret in Hellfire that Eddie was crushing bad on King Steve so he sent Eddie one of the shirts.

Imagine Steve confusion when he flips the tv over to MTV and sees his old classmate being interviewed...wearing a shirt with his face on it.

There's a number at the bottom of the screen that you can call to ask Eddie a question.

Steve calls.

Before the interviewer can finish saying, "We have someone on the line from your homet-"

"Why are you wearing a shirt with my face on it?" Steve asks. "And would it kill you to answer the phone when Dustin calls you? Or call him back? The kid misses you."

Now half of America thinks Eddie is a deadbeat father.

I’ve been thinking about swap!Kyosuke and how different his crime would be… (Hotaru spoilers)

I mean Kyosuke is a character that has a lot of complex feelings about his relationship with Hotaru.

He’s aware of how unhealthy it is but ignores that in favor of the good parts despite the fact it’s terrible for both of them.

If I had to describe him I’d say he’s selfish! Kyosuke is selfish, he’ll do things he knows is wrong because it’s easier for him. He’s a lot like Hotaru in that regard.

Kyosuke wouldn’t directly kill Hotaru, not like how Hotaru kills him in canon. I think his crime would be more similar to Kazui or Mahiru, where Hotaru commits suicide or maybe gets into an accident because of Kyosukes actions.

Kyosuke isn’t a very violent person, he’s soft and passive and doesn’t let things get to him. He’s also a liar. He lies and lies and lies and he can’t stop by the time Hotaru dies, because if he admits the truth the result would probably be the same.

In the swap au Kyosuke never admitted to Hotaru that the truth: that Kyosuke never loved him romantically. That he never would, even if he tried. And so Hotaru would never snap and strangle him.

They still get into the same argument though, the same fight with the same outcome. Hurt feelings and cruel words spat at him.

Kyosuke would move on like always and pretend nothing happened, because he always forgives Hotaru even though he never apologizes. But Hotaru would internalize it, something about the fight makes him internalized his self-loathing feelings and he will believe that he causes all of his problems (and he does some times)

Hotaru isn’t very good at handling his feelings, he feels he is the worst so he looks for someone who will agree with him. And if he can’t find someone he makes them. He seeks out people who are violent towards him. Who hate him. Who will hurt him.

I can’t decide if he would commit suicide or if he’d goad someone else into killing him.

I also can’t decide the method of suicide, overdose, hanging or some other method that wouldn’t cause a big mess, Hotaru wouldn’t want to ruin anything.

I picture Kyosuke waiting and waiting for Hotaru to arrive only to go to his house and find him dead.

It’s summer but his room is freezing and he’s not wearing his usual clothes and Kyosuke can’t move from the doorway. He can’t take his eyes off of him. He doesn’t even attempt to call for help.

There would be no note, no clue as to what was happening in Hotaru’s brain before his death. No final wishes or goodbyes, Hotaru never said goodbye, not really.

Never in a way that would be a finality. It was always “see you soon” or “next time” or some other phrase that implied he intended to see someone again.

Theres nothing I love more than aus where subaru’s deaths have some lingering effect on him other than the usual. And I have some ideas if anyone wants to snatch em!

-keepings scars from previous loops (in some way). Maybe flowers under his skin for the dramatic effect lol. They dont show up immediately, and arent lethal. But they are immensely painful. And are also really hard to explain.

-a mental effect? Some issue with his soul through looping can sometimes cause massive lapses of memory. Like he remembers all the loops ofc, but the transfer isnt always perfect. And the more times a transfer occurs in one loop, the more bugs there are. And it should only be nice things he forgets. Subaru gets out of the arc 4 loop and realizes that he cant remember a lot of moments with his parents. He can no longer picture the taste and appearance of ice cream. He cant remember what happened on his date with emilia. He cant remember the street he lived on. Oh how horrifying would that be <3 (inspired by sentenced to be a hero btw)

-subaru acts as walking deja vu to everyone around him. Nobody knows about RBD but moments of past memory slip through the cracks when in his presence. Hes a walking time anomaly

-angel baru au? Can also not be in the traditional sense. Just the idea that the more subaru loops, the more he gets attuned with death. And that manifests with like, angel wings, or just something from whatever beyond you want.

-ive seen this idea as a oneshot b4. All of the agony and pain from death are not erased. Instead the emotions get dumped elsewhere and are eventually concentrated into a beast that terrorizes the world, completely separate from Subaru. Congratulations baru! Your failures created another great mabeast even more horrific than the big three! Its ending the lives of innocent people and YOU made it! (Immense guilt ensues)
