“Hey stranger, missed me?”
"I'm actually trying to remember if we met," Aldrich chuckled, "Aldrich Killian, superhuman. Yourself?"

Aldrich was about to reply when a sight passed him that made his eyes widen slightly. The sight of what HAD been Johnny Corben, or at least what was still left being wheeled past on a gurney, wires, cables and tubes all connected to him and blood soaked bandages. One thing was very clear- amongst the damage, it was obvious Johnny was missing an arm, some fingers, and rather grimly, his jaw. A member of the medical staff approached them, glancing between the scientists as several other students approached, “There was an…. incident. Johnathan Corben’s been shot.” Johnny Corben, Aldrich noted quietly, with a small, inward smirk. “We need students who have the medical expertise to help him. We’re low on equipment and facilities thanks to the plants taking over the campus, but we’re unable to stabilise him due to extensive medical trauma to his chest.” The staff member looked between them again, “Is there anyone here who can help?”
Aldrich remained quiet, glancing calmly over to Bruce.
Bruce drew in a sharp breath at the horror in front of them. If that had been student, a person, it certainly wasn’t anymore. He had never heard of anyone surviving trauma like this before in his life. He turned away from the gruesome image to answer the staff member.
“I have degrees in Biochem and biomechanics. I can to help.” he answered quickly. Bruce looked over at the scientist next to him, wondering what he would be able to contribute. He waited for the other man to finish listing his credentials, and launched into a list of things they needed to start doing for John.
“He’s lost so much blood. We need to get his legs elevated so all the blood left goes to his vital organs and brain. He can lose the legs, but as soon as his brain starts to go we’ve lost him. Got that?” He confirmed with the med staff. Somehow, the intense situation was making him calmer and more self-assured.
"I'm out." The words rang from Aldrich's lips, calm as could be as he started to turn to leave. "But... he... he could die. Your biochemistry could help him to live," one of the medical staff started, "Your Extremis..." Aldrich paused, his hands in the pockets of his suit as he turned back, to look at Bruce, and the staff, "My Extremis is my creation. It is unstable, and can be highly dangerous if injected into a volatile person like him. I've seen him on campus, he's dangerous, and I see no reason to help him." The medical staff looked in shock, "Mr Killian, please..." Aldrich sighed, and looked back to Bruce, "Do your best, Banner. Do everything you can to save your patient, because it will be without the help of me, and my work. I refuse to help that corpse in there, it's of no benefit to me, to my work, and as it's within MY say whether to administer it or not, I say no." And with that, calm as could be, Aldrich Killian, the one so many had thought the sweet, kind, helpful scientist with a smile on his lips, walked away to leave a man to die.

Aldrich Killian was the first to arrive, wandering up to the scene outside the medical facilities with a slight swagger in his step, his brow furrowed as he looked around, waiting to see who else would arrive. “I heard the call for medically trained students, what’s the problem?” He started to ask, glancing up to the other approaching, “….seems I wasn’t the only one who heard”
“I don’t know yet.” Bruce said with a small shake of his head. “But it sounded really urgent.” He shrugged a little helplessly as he looked around. Whatever had happened was definitely not good, and he wasn’t sure he wanted to be around whatever it was. He didn’t exactly have the temperament for stressful situations. He glanced over at the other man, curious about his credentials. Clearly he had some knowledge that brought him here for a reason.
“Do, uh, do we just go in then?”

Aldrich smiled once again, “Humans ARE pointless. Which intrigues me why you’ve bonded here with this one. We are beneath you, and yet you walk around in the skin of one. Why?” he walked around her, circling her. His eyes drank in the sight but it was not of lust, he was intrigued and wanted to learn more. “Though if we are pointless, is it so right to mock us when we try to reach higher? To go above the limits other more powerful beings have limited upon us? We are destined to be upgraded, improved, bettered by something greater then evolution…. Will you be still willing to walk amongst whatever we become?”
“Don’t forget what you are, worm.” She hissed, pointing at him as she stumbled on her feet, adding to her already erratic actions. “So I can be free. This one…is unique.” She watched him circle her and she clearly didn’t like it. She was feral in nature, a predator so she felt like this foolish creature was trying to circle her as some sort of prey. “Because it is fun.”
“What higher is there?” She cackled. “You are put a speck of dust in the giants eyes.” She told him, raising her hand and putting her index finger and thumb close together to emphasis just how tiny they really are. “You think you are all so fancy. So special. You will die like the rest of them and be replaced again and again and again and me and the greater forces will continue.”
Aldrich couldn't help but smile, "Fun..... that's an interesting thing to mention. It's something that we, both humans and gods, have in common," he raised his hands, almost surrendering before she took it as insulting, "I don't mean we're anything as worthy as beings as yourself, nor am I trying to reduce you to our level. But, it is still an interesting observation, isn't it? Perhaps it is all humans can live for, seeking out the next element of fun." He paused, looking to her, "What do you yourself find fun? Aside from murder. Murder its...." he gave a slight shiver, perhaps of disgust, "It's base. It's simple. Humans do it so easily. How about you?"
Aldrich was quiet as he watched the Enchantress, grateful for her release upon his neck. His skin cooled, and he cracked the joints in his neck, looking quietly at her. “It is our defense. The truth is too much for many, to realise their insignificance. But you….” he gestured to her, thinking, “You’re so much more, aren’t you? More then this shell you are inhibiting…….” He paused, rolling his tongue slowly over his gums at the side of his jaw, “You have been sealed away for long?”
“Truth…what is truth? What good is truth? You mortals and your silly things. Lies, truths, love, morality…doesn’t it sound so pointless? You all want to clench your silly chubby baby hands around this world…like it has some sort of worth.” She then laughed under her breath as she turned back to the male.
“This shell…of course I am. However, our souls are one. No one I had took over before has been able to bond with me on this level…” She then rolled her eyes. “I was sealed away for several millenniums. When the Earth was but a baby. Then the foolish little girl let me out but never did I imagine someone would be able to bond with me…keep me trapped to this vessel. No matter…I like it. Like a puppet on strings.”
Aldrich smiled once again, "Humans ARE pointless. Which intrigues me why you've bonded here with this one. We are beneath you, and yet you walk around in the skin of one. Why?" he walked around her, circling her. His eyes drank in the sight but it was not of lust, he was intrigued and wanted to learn more. “Please, by all means, do,” Aldrich announced calmly as he looked towards the other student, “then when you’ve weakened the only thing supporting the structure and it collapses, possibly upon someone, then take your boldness and face down Isley upon her eventual return. I’m sure she’d love to hear how you took her babies out ‘at the source’.”
“Okay, good point about the building collapsing. We should reinforce the building first and then take out the source.” Damian yanked a vine from the wall and shook his head. “As for this Isley person.. She can get over it.”
"Surely there's actually a better option. If a beast is running wild, what do you do? Sedate it. If we can find a way of feeding these plants something that slows their growth rate and makes them more pliant, we can at least hold our own until we can either track down Isley, or if needs be utterly remove them from the grounds without leaving any seeds or such beneath the ground to tackle with later. Forward planning....." he mused, studying the plant life as he took a syringe from his inner jacket, jabbing it within one of the vines and drawing out some of the liquid within, studying it, "I'll pass this on to the researchers at my research facility to see what we can create. And to supply a high dose of allergy medication for those who need it."
“I think we should take this out at the source, does anyone know where that might be?” Damian ran his hand along a vine as he strolled in the opposite direction of which the plant was growing. “I mean hasn’t anyone thought of that yet.. You people can’t be that dumb.”
"Please, by all means, do," Aldrich announced calmly as he looked towards the other student, "then when you've weakened the only thing supporting the structure and it collapses, possibly upon someone, then take your boldness and face down Isley upon her eventual return. I'm sure she'd love to hear how you took her babies out 'at the source'."
“So if the plants are forming within this area….. and are growing at a rate per minute…..” Aldrich mumbled as he did the maths quietly to himself, obviously thinking of the current scenario
“Do you feel like right this exact second is the right time to do this? Don’t you think that maybe we should get out of this building before the plants cause enough structural damage to collapse it?” Liza stared at the stranger with exasperation.
“Well, it won’t exactly bother ME if the building collapses, I’m stronger then I look,” Aldrich replied, looking up and throwing a wink in her direction, “please, feel free to flee if you want, but running into the gaping mouth of a giant venus flytrap might be a pretty gross way to go.” He filled out a few more notes, humming slightly to himself as he worked, “I’m Aldrich Killian by the way. Don’t call me Al, unlike the song I’m not exactly crazy for a bodyguard” he smiled, folding his arms as he looked over to her, “You must be new here”
Liza rolled her eyes at the wink and examined the doorway, seeing the plant he had mentioned. She huffed unhappily. “Brilliant, well maybe you’ll be fine if the building collapses on us but personally I’m rather crush-able, so how the hell do I get out of here?”
She eyed him with a certain level of wariness. “Elizabeth Kapoor, don’t call be Lizzie, and is m newness really that obvious?”
“I just haven’t seen you around much. You get used to Novus, the same faces breezing past in the corridors, you learn to know who is new and who is old.” He chuckled gently, slowly climbing to his feet and dusting himself down. Aldrich wasn’t too tall, at 5’ 11" he was pretty tall but no behemoth. Slender, but strong jawed and suited his smile, a little wry perhaps but kind. “If you like I’m more then happy to show you an exit, if you like”
“You get a lot of people coming and going here then?” Liza stepped back slightly as he stood, folding her arms across her chest. This was a new habit of hers, backing away from anyone who so much as inched closer. It wasn’t one she enjoyed, she was a proud person, she liked to square up to people and stand tall (well as tall as she could at 5′3), but this was necessary these days, to fold in on herself like this.
“That would be appreciated.”
Walking calmly to the nearest wall that lead outside, Aldrich eyed it quietly. Rolling up his sleeves- successfully making him look like he fell from 1985- he reached up with both hands. The veins upon them glowed, growing brighter and brighter as he started to drag them slowly over the brickwork. The heat could be felt as his eyes glowed, the brickwork starting to crumble and blister as he reached into the wall, visibly struggling with the effort before he smiled, finally finishing his actions as he pushed against the brickwork, like something out of an Indiana Jones move, the freshly made 'exit' fell away as Aldrich gestured towards the doorway, his skin and eyes cooling back to their normal colourations, "voila"
“So if the plants are forming within this area….. and are growing at a rate per minute…..” Aldrich mumbled as he did the maths quietly to himself, obviously thinking of the current scenario

“So YOU are the reason the person you used to be was always so…. skittish.” Aldrich smiled, though as she clenched his throat his brow furrowed. “You…. might not want to do that…..” he breathed out barely, waiting for her grasp to slacken. When it did not, his skin started to grow hotter and hotter. The veins upon his throat glowed bright orange, steam rising from the surface of his skin as he grew burning hot, higher and higher, the Extremis alterations to his body healing up what damage it could tell had been done, no matter how small, but the heat generated by the exothermic reaction was under Aldrich’s control. He looked to her, his eyes aglow as he whispered. “Some say I have brimstone in my veins…..” he calmly replied.
“Person?” She asked, clearly not regarding whatever he was talking about as a person. Especially her vessel, June. If anything, June may of set her free but she kept her locked up so much. Never let her out for anything.
“You dare tell me what to do?” Enchantress hissed. “I’m far more powerful and older than you. I’m a goddess. I’ll tear your tongue out with my teeth before I suck on your teeth.” She spat angrily. She could feel the heat growing before she snarled. “You think that matters to me?” She then laughed at him. “You humans and your superiority. Always think you are better. Always something better…” She trailed off again as she released him, the chained clad being looking around once more. “Something better…”
Aldrich was quiet as he watched the Enchantress, grateful for her release upon his neck. His skin cooled, and he cracked the joints in his neck, looking quietly at her. "It is our defense. “It’s ironic however, what you label as ‘sin’.” Aldrich replied calmly, “the very sins people would have been executed for a thousand years ago may now be commonplace, and things accepted 500 years ago will clad you in chains.” He shrugged and chuckled gently, slipping his hands into his pockets, “but we’re all guilty of sin, I suppose. Though mine? Jealousy and Lust and Pride, if I had to choose.” he smirked, though the prod upon his body had made him take a step back from the force of it. “Now what brings you here, I wonder?”
Enchantress cackled. “A sin is a sin.” She told him. She stretched out as if she had woken from a deep slumber. “That bitch has kept me locked up so long. Never lets me out to play. Never lets me…” She trailed off as she looked around. The vines growing around a building she considered to be pointless. She ran her hands across his shoulders, before clenching them around his throat. “Never…any…fun.” She hissed.
"So YOU are the reason the person you used to be was always so.... skittish." Aldrich smiled, though as she clenched his throat his brow furrowed. “Why on earth are you trying to work out the calculations behind this, isn’t top priority to you know- be done with the plants. I’m sure the school would seem a much nicer place without them, it’s not like we can just wish them away.”
"If we can understand their rate of growth," Aldrich explained, "It's possible we can figure out a way to isolate the patterns in which they're growing. There's no point in us rebuilding buildings if the plants are just going to burst right through. Like building atop a fault point." Aldrich looked up, offering a warm, teeth-showing smile as he looked up to the new company, "And besides, what if we try to cut into them and they heal up faster then we cut? It could end up like the Hydra, a thousand heads- or, veins in this case- bursting forth. Understanding is important."
"So if the plants are forming within this area..... and are growing at a rate per minute....." Aldrich mumbled as he did the maths quietly to himself, obviously thinking of the current scenario
The display of power caught Aldrich’s attention, watching as the vein shattered into pieces, and turned back to her. Magic of sorts? He’d seen Zee performing many spells and incantations, but this was different. It was… raw. Powerful. “You are the autumn people. Where do you come from? The dust. Where do you go to? The grave. The hungry ones. Torments call like dogs in the night. To feed, and feed well. To stuff yourselves on other people’s nightmares. And butter plain bread with delicious pain. Funerals, bad marriages, lost loves, lonely beds. That is the diet. Suck that misery and find it sweet. Search for more always. Hear a middle-aged fool groaning with midnight despairs from halfway around the world.” He smiled, studying the expression of the other carefully, “Do you have a name? Mine is Aldrich Killian.”
Enchantress looked at the mortal being like a violent spirit would when it saw its prey. Like they could see everything down to your core. Enchantress was a hire being than to care about what these mortals cared about. She was a primal force of nature. A feral sorceress. “Your poetry reminds me of a time long ago, not that I care.” She snarled as she stepped towards the male, making a rattling sound thanks to the metal like garments she wore or lack of garments she wore, another thing June would not do.
“I am the Enchantress. You are poetic but that doesn’t hide things from me.” She gave him a sick smile as she poked him with some force. “All the little sins running through there.” She looked up at him through the stray locks of black hair in her face. “It is nice to see one thing hasn’t changed; mortals.”
"It's ironic however, what you label as 'sin'." Aldrich replied calmly, "the very sins people would have been executed for a thousand years ago may now be commonplace, and things accepted 500 years ago will clad you in chains." “…..‘from the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes?” Aldrich questioned, reciting one of his favourite lines from the story that had held him intrigued when he was but a child, crippled with only his mind to paint the world he couldn’t explore
Enchantress didn’t move at first, seemingly catatonic as the vines and what not continued to grow back around the place. She seemed like she wasn’t going to move, her eyes fixed at one spot before she finally began to move. The Enchantress slowly rose, almost like a zombie before finally looking up. Despite looking somewhat like June, it was clear June was no more. Her arm lifted slowly before her her hand out stretch and within an instance, the vines seemed to be destroyed with an invisible pulse. Slowly, the grim feral Enchantress turned to face the company.
“I always do like this time of year. So glad that insolent little brat let me out.” The being finally said.
