people saying that izzie and alex were always meant to be endgame clearly have not been watching the show the last 10 years… or even while izzie was on lol. jesus christ, she screwed him over so badly. up and ditched him after everything he did for her. he gave her everything, and then she left him worrying about her, if she was ok and healthy and still going to chemo. not to mention, tons of medical bills to pay. and let’s be completely honest here, izzie never loved alex as much as he loved her. NEVER. she never got denny. he was the love of her life.
but then we see alex slowly start to move on. he’s pissed and heartbroken at first, but that’s to be expected. but over the years, he becomes more and more ready to move on. and then along comes jo. i absolutely loved season 9, seeing the beginning stages of their relationship. they were irritated by each other, then they became friends, then best friends, and finally admitted their feelings to each other. it was so great to see alex actually excited about being fully committed to someone again. he had moved on completely from izzie. yes, he had, don’t even try to fight me on this. she was not the love of his life. i know this because meredith literally said it!!!!!!!!!! (12x24)!!!! and because of the “whenever i picture her, she’s smiling” line. that line and the way he said it just screamed closure. when you’re over someone, you don’t feel love for them anymore, but you don’t feel hate either. you’re indifferent, and you wish them well. alex always always always wanted to be with jo, it was her with the commitment issues (understandable because of her past). it took him a long time to get to that stage with izzie, but he was all in with jo from the beginning. he called her his fiancee a few months into their relationship for god’s sake. he always waited for her. he didn’t want to be with anyone else!!!!! he promised and promised he would never leave her. that was a big thing with her, and he wouldn’t go back on that. and after the struggles they went through last season, he asked her to marry him again!!!!! this was how many episodes ago??? not even a full damn season. JO WAS HIS POST IT LOVE, NOT IZZIE.
so you’re trying to tell me that after being in foster care, living in her car, being in an abusive marriage, and finding out her mom didn’t want her jo now has to deal with the fact that her husband left her for his ex???
and alex, THE KING OF GROWTH, the one who made the most progress, the guy who became a fantastic peds surgeon, the perfect husband, and the very best friend would suddenly upend his whole ass life and the marriage he desperately wanted and worked so hard for just to be with izzie fucking stevens, the woman who almost ruined his life?????

i cannot believe we’ve seen an ending worse than derek’s and april’s. i would have honestly preferred alex’s death to this. at least his character development would’ve stayed in tact. in fact, let’s just pretend that he is dead, because there’s no way in hell i’m acknowledging this travesty ever again.
the last episode he was ever in was the one on halloween when he and jo got married again. (holy fuck, that was only 4 months ago!!!!!! what in the actual fucking fuck!!!!!!)
