Me: “Yeah, I think so. But he has been serving Blackbeard for like, decades…and now Stede is his new favourite.”

Mum: “Well, if he wanted Blackbeard he should have said something!”

Me: “True! I think Izzy needs someone less chaotic and more devoted to be honest.”

Mum: “Like Stede? Or more like that lovely boy with the book.”

Me: “Maybe!” 😭 “I just …wait, do you mean Lucius?”

AND THEN I lost my fucking marbles because she seems to be under the impression that Ed and Izzy are divorced. Like, canonically. (Honestly, it tracks.)

Mum: “He has left like this before. Does it always end like this?

Mum: “He is not taking the divorce well at all.”

you liked the finale? that is perfectly acceptable. but consider this. “they didn’t even kiss” is actually very charitable. what we also meant was “they didn’t even have yearning, trembling, sobbing, flushed, half-clothed, breath-hitching, desperate, hurt/comfort style making-out burning into love-making from the chaise lounge to the bedroom, and then again, softer, sweeter in the morning as the dust settled over their at once heartbreaking yet heartfelt reunion”

I told Mum about OFMD, and she asked to watch it with me. She really likes it so far.

She has lived alongside queer culture throughout her life (and was super supportive of me coming out) so I promise you this is real. 😭❤️

Here’s a few comments from her, several episodes in…

“These boys are idiots!” The boys in question are the entire crew. She laughs her arse off. YES. Yes they are. ❤️

(Her first impression of Izzy) “Ooh. What an angry little man!” (Then he slices up Stede’s shirt.) “He’s good with his sword though.”

Me: “Mum…you’re right. And I have the biggest crush on him. You will see why.”

Mum: “Oh really? He is a bit of a bastard but all men are. We shall see.” 💀🖤

It was this scene where she said “Oh. They’re boyfriends now. They have to be.” 😭💕

Then this – I simply wept. “So they’ve been in his closet, and now they’re wearing eachother’s clothes! I knew it. Oh, and look at Stede. He’s a leather boy ready for leather night!”

HE’S A LEATHER BOY READY FOR LEATHER NIGHT 💀😭

Mum: “I like Lucius, he’s very funny. He’s the twink of the boat.” 💅

Me: “You are so right. I like Lucius too.”

And finally , “I thought Jim might have been a them. You know, non-binary.” 🥲💜

Me: “You’re right, they are!”

Mum: “It was hard enough being a woman back then, and even now. You know a person by their energy. Jim is more non-binary.”

We start off strong with the darling Con emerging from a decorative pink palm tree with his pants off for absolutely no reason. 😭🙈

And from this point on, Samba has the unruliest pirate of them all on his hands. 😆😭

Apparently it took forty five minutes to get the stream and other tech working , and Samba is ✨STRESSED ✨. That is *so fair*, and Con is taking it *too well*. This is basically the vibe for the rest of the show.

I have been terribly ill and decided to give Our Flag Means Death another go while on bedrest. I am converted, I have already watched it through twice. And I regret to inform that I have another fictional husband. Yes. I am hopelessly smitten with Izzy Hands. (Me? A softly camp hunter-green bookish type falling overboard for a surly deep-down sweetheart dressed in black? No, it has never happened I am not predictable). And...Con O'Neil is so...talented, wholesome and gorgeous? How did I not recognise him before? And, more importantly what am I going to do without Season 3? What happened?

This is great for those with a soft spot for Halsin (myself included) , and for Oakweave fans (also myself included). Dave said he likes Oakweave! To which he clarifies that he would not like to romance Tim Downie (Gale) but “it’s the closest (he’s) gonna get”. Please we need more! 😭

Well, here goes. I *am* supposed to be finishing Chapter 1 of Sanctuary, my first Bloodweave fanfiction set in Act III in the City of Baldur's Gate. But I felt like trying something new today, and instead of pressuring myself to complete it, posting some progress to help soothe fear of failure and judgement. You know, what everyone goes through because of the human condition.

So, at almost thirty I'm learning how to draw digitally on my partner's Wacom tablet from when he was in animation school. I have made traditional art from the moment I could hold crayons, but over the years I had less and less time, and less and less confidence as traditional art fell out of favour, and exciting new ways to process, share and print artwork emerged. I grew up working class and have never had access to a tablet before, and sometimes I wonder what my life might be like if I had one earlier.

My first impressions? I think digital art is really accessible, but it is definitely its own skill set. What surprised me most is that I now have exceptional challenge with perspective, and some difficulty with proportions. My theory is that because of the difference in co-ordination and motor skills required by digital art, my neurodivergent brain is getting confused. So, I seem to default to simpler positions like portraits. I think many traditional artists avoid digital art, or embrace it and become frustrated when their skills are not as transferable as they expect, and it is a little humbling. But it doesn't make you a bad artist! There's a lot to be learned with any new medium.

I am enjoying it, and even if I don't get terribly far with it at least I've tried something new. So tumblr, have my messy, unfinished but perfectly okay digital sketch of Gale Dekarios , who encourages me to learn new things for the love of it, even if I singe my eyebrows off or become an explosive in the process.
