here at last is a true lover
yes, i write and yes, my poetry is bad, but most importantly: i feel, deeply. my words may not be perfectly arranged but they are real and meaningful. they are adorned with the nectar that drips raw from my soul - a sweet, truthful, tempestful honey. i will have a lifetime to learn how to perfectly arrange a poem, but if i lacked in feeling, i would never be able to write. the soul of poetry is the bitter truthfulness buried deep within our hearts, not empty words upon a paper. how could i be a poet if my words would not hold the power to tear at least one person's soul into droplets of emotion?
it is as marina tsvetaeva once said "equality in gift of soul and gift of language Β- thatβs what a poet is. so there are no poets who donβt write and no poets who donβt feel. if you feel but donβt write, youβre not a poet (where are the words?). If you write but donβt feel, youβre not a poet (where is the soul?). Where is the essence? Where is the form? Same thing. Indivisibility of essence and form - that is a poet. naturally i prefer someone who feels but doesnβt write, to someone who writes but doesnβt feel. the first may be a poet tomorrow. or tomorrowβs saint. or a hero. the second (the versewriter) is nothing at all."
