Funny enough, i said one time that artie couldve been a lot interesting as a gothic 3mo with a heart of gold in the vein of gerard way instead of a generic white boy so technically my dream came true.

example doris being the girly girl of them

She wears more makeup than anyone and fawns over guys yet the movies still masculinize her and i suspect it's due to her having visibly brown skin and "ethnic" features. Fiona's femininity is handled with care that the woman of color is denied. It doesnt help that Doris was absent in marketing for shrek 3 despite being part of the princesses while rapunzel is featured more when she's evil.

I find myself rewatching the third movie more because of all the wasted potential... like they introduced a 16 year old and he didn't make a single your mum joke at Charming?

Artie redesign

I feel like artie could've been marginally more interesting if he was an ogre. I mean, it makes sense to introduce a THIRD ogre in the THIRD movie. Plus the idea of king arthur being a monster continues the franchise tradition of subverting the usual fairytale clichés. And instead of romantic love it's familial/fatherly love that "breaks" the curse. Plus it makes his speech at the end a lot more justified when he isnt a conventionally attractive white boi. I made 2 versions: one inspired by Swan Lake, and the other in his signature red.

I read somewhere (probably TV Tropes) that the reason why Rapunzel turned on her friends was because they were the only ones who had disney movies at the time and she didnt. I wonder if, now that Tangled exists, she came back and truly reformed?

Hilariously enough Rapunzel did have a big named movie: BARBIE as Rapunzel, which is just as beloved as disney princess fare. Had Rapunzel knew it existed she probably wouldn't have been so upset.
