I don't think the answer to feeling less anxious and annoyed is to look at social media.
Would you believe it's spending time with people you love?

Uggggggghhhhhhhhhhh
What if I simply got everything I wanted and all my chronic ailments went away?
I'm feeling sad and tired tonight but I've gotta lock in to writing!
Got my writing done! I'll give it another pass tomorrow and then start memorizing.
I'm still sad and tired, though.
After 3 months rationing zolmitriptan to stay within the limit of 9 pills a month, I finally scheduled a primary care appointment to get some kind of prophylactic injectable migraine treatment. Don't get me wrong, it's stunning how well the zolmitriptan works. Like I genuinely can't believe I went all these years without it-- trying desperately to deal with migraines with OTC concoctions and lost days.
If I can get rid of them entirely instead of just the worst days, though? That'd be so huge. I'm really hopeful! Gotta wait a couple weeks for the appointment but it'll be here soon!

Last Month's Movies for May 2026
Virgin Witch (1972)
Not good but at least there was some tits and ass.
Baba Yaga (1973)
I really didn't like this at all.
The Handmaiden (2016) *
The teeth filing in the tub is so fucking hot. Gloves and corsets and women lying. I still don't like the final sex scene but everything before it is gorgeous. You really don't feel the 2 and a half hour runtime.
Prisoners of the Land (1939)
While I knew this would end in tragedy, the way we got there was a genuine shock. I really liked my time with this bit of highly political filmmaking.
Funeral Parade of Roses (1969) *
I can't help but imagine what this would be with better interview questions but still it's everything I want from a movie.
Tampopo (1985) *
I got to watch one of my favorite movies with some of my favorite people new and old. What an amazing wonderful night. Egg! Egg! Egg! Egg!
The Passion of Joan of Arc (1928)
Following up a really challenging S/M scene with this had me sobbing for reasons I can't really explain. One of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.
I Love Boosters (2026)
Kind of an empty hat as far as putting together a movie goes but it's fun and stylish and women are so beautiful. Also thank you Boots Riley for LaKeith Stanfield.
Nitrate Kisses (1992) *
One of my favorite movie going experiences of the year. Really special.
Fast Five (2011) *
It's all downhill from here but what a great peak. Fun as hell every time.
Drive My Car (2021)
Movies are so good theater is so good continuing to live is so good the delicate moments of connection between people are so good thank you for being in this world with me friends.
Faat Kiné (2001)
I love one capitalist and it's Faat Kiné. Venus Seye is so incredibly charming.
By Design (2025)
I really loved this. Lots of big swings and most of them connect. The theatrical staging and stylized deliveries are so up my alley. Beautiful and sexy and sad and weird.
Demons 2 (1986)
It's a shame about the 5 minutes I couldn't watch due to flashing lights but I had a pretty great time with this one!
Is God Is (2026)
Kara Young is a star and I can't wait to see what Aleshea Harris does next. Vibrant, violent, and funny.
The Shiver of the Vampires (1971) *
It's a beautiful and goofy movie to have on in the background while you mess around.
Salomé (1922)
The way black people and black face are used in this is a glaring wart. Such spectacular costumes elsewhere give way to unimaginative, boring, and offensive caricature. I keep comparing it to the experience of watching Lawrence of Arabia in 70mm and simultaneously thinking it was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen and being repulsed by the ugliness of the prosthetic noses and brown make up caked on so many faces projected in crystal clarity. These are choices made in time and as an audience, also in time, we're left to consider that they're choices which did not have to be made. There are some tableaux in this that are really stunning... the peacock situation, the prophet shadowed in his cage, every shot of the lovesick gay and his equally lovesick bisexual paramour and every single thing Nazimova wears. And I adored my second outing with the MIYUMI Project Japanese Experimental Ensemble. But like....... I don't know, man.
Maeve (1981)
Genuinely problematized characters in a naturalistically didactic screenplay. I loved the way extensive flashback was used to drive home how memory layers upon the present moment... to the point where it was basically an asynchronous story instead of a specific point in time. The camerawork was wonderful to behold to boot with some shots that'll really stick with me. Highly recommended! Immediately after watching this I went to a rave in a neighborhood I lived in 15 years ago, which I hardly ever visit now, and spent a good portion of the walk to the venue yapping at my date about my time there.
Montreal, My Beautiful (2025)
A well executed paint by numbers plot for a late in life lesbian coming of age. I was going to watch a Joan Chen lesbian romance (with age gap and actual sex scenes!!!) no matter what so it was nice to have it actually be pretty good! Yet again, women are so beautiful.
Set It Off (1996) *
This really looked gorgeous on the big screen! Women are So Beautiful! Once this thing turns it's such a sad wreck to watch. I love these girls.
Sambizanga (1972)
Blunt, beautiful, and brutal. A very special bit of filmmaking and I can't wait to watch more from Sarah Maldoror. One of my favorites from this year.
Hokum (2026)
Alan Wake by way of Silent Hill but way less creative than either of those games. I liked the jokes but they didn't fill nearly enough of the run time. It gave me something to chew on for why the horror didn't work for me so not a waste of time at least.
The Rite of Spring (1978) *
I feel the move where they jab their elbows into their stomachs in my heart. I'll never get tired of watching this.
Murder-Rock: Dancing Death (1984)
When I was looking for gifs from this movie on Tumblr I found out it was popular among the heartbeat fetish crowd and that's beautiful.
Sweet Smell of Success (1957)
The dialogue is soooooo funny and snappy and mean. Absolutely incredible toxic chemistry between Lancaster and Curtis. I had such a good time watching it. And real beautiful New York location shots to boot.
Araya (1959)
Absolutely gorgeous meditation on labor, landscapes, and community. The open question about the potential of industrialization to free us from the burden of endless toil is rather depressing in hindsight. It unfortunately bumped up against my particular dislike of voiceover, which features extensively throughout the movie, but that's 100% a me problem. Really worth a watch.
Throne of Blood (1957)
Macbeth is great and Kurosawa is great and Mifune is great. Like you kind of can't go wrong here and it never does. Isuzu Yamada is a great Lady Macbeth. I understand there's two translations available on the disc version and I kind of wish the less straightforward one was available to stream on criterion channel as what I felt most lacking was the prose. Still another Akira Kurosawa banger.
The Fly (1986) *
A great one for the big screen! 700 people going EEUGGHHHH in unison is always a beautiful thing. Funny and goopy and horny and so much sadder than I remembered it being. I really want Veronica to have a nice date after all this. It's crushing to think she might be stuck with Stathis.
Watch out! If you cultivate relationships and talk openly about your struggles people will offer to help!
Don't forget to get your distress tolerance reps in every day.
I'm doing a brief 3-4 minute performance piece on Sunday about how getting a pussy is tied to grief about the loss of my father because of the timing of his death and how finally getting properly fucked in it six years later led to me finally properly grieving.
An absolutely ridiculous but totally true sequence of events that I'm pretty sure he'd get a kick out of.
I am, of course, still writing it. :weary emoji:
