Hufflepuffs donât wait until they are in trouble to bring flowers home; they bring some home from the store about every other week just because.Â

A muggleborn brought chalkboard paint and pulled an all-nighter with friends painting a wall in the common room, moving paintings and shelves and even a fireplace for the night with a tricky bit of transfiguration. When it was all dry, they returned everything plus added place for chalk. Now it is covered every day with words of encouragement and little notes.Â

Hufflepuffs get more frustrated at Ravenclaws than any other house. In their shared classes, the âClaws tend to be patronizing or condescending in discussions.Â

Hufflepuffs tend to move back to their villages and hamlets after graduating from Hogwarts. They bring their talents back home because they want to give back to the community that raised them.Â

Breakups are rough for Hufflepuffs. They will still want to be friends, even when they know thatâs an impossibility.Â

Hufflepuffs stress-nap.Â
Hi, I wanted to know what characteristics you would think for a Hufflepuff villain,or Dark hufflepuff? Because I wanted to write a female villain that could have hufflepuff traits, but so far she has more of Slytherin traits (She's ambitious, doesn't question her morality that much, she does what's necessary to win, values power. But she's also very loyal, naive, hard-working and loving). I don't want to further the stereotype that only Slytherins/ or with slytherin traits are the bad guys.
I think a âvillainâ Hufflepuff would take a dark path in the name of loyalty, and patience and hard work would get them their results.Â

Several Hufflepuffs throw a scone into their bag during breakfast every morning for people who slept through.

A conversation with a Slytherin co-worker:
Slytherin: You should really consider becoming a mentor for the new hires. Tell the department head you want the position.Â
Hufflepuff: Yeah, that sounds great! I would love to help them develop new skills!
S: No, no, if you start mentoring now, in 10 years all the department will have been trained by you and be your minions. Then, if you have a disagreement with the boss, you know youâll have their loyalty.Â
H: ....
S: Donât say I never tried to help you.Â

Hufflepuffs are very driven but feel guilty nominating themselves for leadership positions; they like being asked to lead, so they donât feel like they are being selfish.Â
How Hufflepuff #78
When a Hufflepuff wins an argument against a Slytherin, the Slytherin will try to flee the scene as quickly as possible, while the Hufflepuff trails behind trying to figure out what type of cookie to bake to smooth things over.

If a Hufflepuff and a Slytherin are the only two from their respective houses in a big group project or on a team, they will either be on the same page, united against the Ravenclaws and Gryffindors, OR they will be pitted against each other on big decisions and try to sway the rest of the team to their perspective.Â
I am still alive! Itâs finals week at my university and I am keeping my head above the water. Sorry, I havenât posted in forever; I have no excuses. If you want to submit a How Hufflepuff I would love to post it. Also, sidenote, I am in a sorority and I adore it. The traits we value very much overlap with Hufflepuff qualities. :) Â

Noncanon: To get into the Hufflepuff common room, you have to say something kind you've done that day. And the door knows if you're lying, that way mean, bullying kids can't get in.ďťż

Yearly Easter egg hunts are a point of pride for the house of the Badgers. The upperclassmen make beautiful eggs, hand painted, and hide them about the castle letting the younger puffs find them.
Thoughts on ravenclaw/puff friend relationship?
Okay, so there are quite a few asks about Hufflepuff/ Ravenclaw relationships. Regardless of gender or relationship title (friends, dating, siblings, etc..) I think that Ravenpuff relationships are best described as a empty change jar on the kitchen counter slowly filling up from nickels and pennies left over from trips to the art museum or bookstore. The jar fills with time, then emptied all at once for some sort of get away thatâs been a long time coming.
Slytherins would want a trip to be more planned out than just that jar by the door, filling slowly and unregulated.
Gryffindors wouldnât wait for the jar to fill. They would fill a backpack or a trunk with whatever they thought they would need and drag the Hufflepuff by the hand laughing like mad, not knowing where the coming days would bring.
Thatâs how I see a Ravenpuff relationship.
