“NIGHTTHORN! Lift that damn chin, you toad face! You’re no use if all you do is stare at the ground!”
“And square those shoulders!”
“And drop down and give ten push-ups now!”
“Don’t act like a dragonet next time!”
Nightthorn grew to the habit of wearing a scowl and always lifting her chin from those past drills in the army, but despite it all, she considers them just memories that infuriate her into fighting until she is worn out. And just thinking about her former SkyWing instructor, Flare, makes her angry enough to knock down a whole dragon.
Windcatcher is Nightthorn’s, Andromeda’s, and Dewdrop’s father, currently living in the Mud Kingdom and working as a constructor. He tries his very best to be the father his dragonets deserve. Redwood isn’t his dragonet, but he is connected to Windcatcher in a way, so he’ll swoop by Possibility from time to time and help Redwood sell things as a way to bond with him.
“Don’t you think that this knife is too expensive?”
“Considering I spend two hours finding it, cleaning it, sharpening it, and then getting permission to sell it since it’s considered a weapon, no, I don’t think it’s expensive.”
“Plus it’s likely the only one you’ll find that is actual good quality.”
“Nothing’s stopping you from leaving if you’re unsatisfied.”
Selling things can be quite a pain, but it’s more of a pain from the buyers themselves when it comes to buying things from Redwood due to his bluntness. Worst of all is that Redwood’s items are truly of good quality, so there isn’t much of a choice other than bitting your tongue and listening to him talk in his slow way.
Idk man I just had to draw Andromeda.
“Sigh. Honey, look. I know that you’re mad about no one buying your pots just because you’re a hybrid. And you’re right to be mad, even I am frustrated. But you need to understand that, as a hybrid, you will face countless injustices through out your life, more than an average dragon would. Nightthorn is our greatest example. She is extremely fierce, yet every single dragon in the army doubted her. And she did not let that stop her, and neither should you.”
“Your pots are amazing and you put relentless effort in making them, and it takes great time for others to notice that, so you’ve got to be patient, alright?”
“…if it makes you feel better, you can go hang out with Brooklime, or we could buy more clay.”
“Sure, go ahead, if that’s what you want. But please remember what I said.”
It’s unfair that Dewdrop spends her free time crafting clay pots to earn money and give other dragons good quality items, just so that she can be neglected for being a hybrid. It’s the most frustrating thing ever, but she is learning, and Windcatcher is great support.
I did a little redesign on them, and I am greatly satisfied with the results.
ALSO: I’m opening in-character Q & A with my WOF OCs! You can ask any of them anything you want, as long as it’s appropriate. These guys aren’t my only Wof OCs, so if you’re interested in other types of characters, you can go through my blog, because I’ve got plenty of them.
