Changes to The Golden Trio in Harry Potter Transformed

For the most part I don’t want to change the characters we’ve grown to love. Harry will still be a bit of a dumbass. Ron will still be wholesome. Hermione will still be a loveable know-it-all. But there are some changes I feel I should make to them.

Harry: There’s a widely used headcanon that Harry is of Indian descent. I love it and I will be incorporating it. Harry will be mixed race, with Lily having been white and James Indian. I will also be making Harry bisexual because why not.

Ron: Ron will stay the same visually. Classic white boy with red hair and impoverished family. However in Harry Potter Transformed I’m hoping to dive deeper into his character. He’s much more than a comic relief. He deals with inferiority and feels like he’s not enough. I’m giving him sad boy moments.

Hermione: I once saw a fan comic of Hermione being black and her unruly hair was an Afro. I love it and so it shall be true. I’m also going to expand upon SPEW and have her help those who are bullied.

Bonus Draco: He’s still gonna be a rich white asshole. BUT a rich white asshole with character development.

Do you love Harry Potter but hate JK Rowling?

So do I! I grew up loving Harry Potter but I can’t morally support a woman who thinks trans folk don’t deserve to live. So I’ve decided to start a new project. Harry Potter Transformed.

Basically, I’ll be going through each book and rewriting it in the image of a book series that values everyone-the way we thought it did when it first came out. That means adding more diversity. Characters of color who don’t have stereotypical names. Openly queer and trans characters. Disabled characters. You name it. Hogwarts is open for all.

Since I don’t own the rights to Harry Potter I will be writing it all myself. I won’t be copying her writing word for word. At most, I’ll keep a few quotes. Technically, this is just a fanfiction. She can’t come after me.

I’ll be putting it here on tumblr and on Ao3. Comments and feedback are very helpful. If you have any headcanons you think would be fun to include PLEASE send me an ask, I’d love to include people’s headcanons and really make this a Harry Potter for The People.

Two things I will not be doing include adding swears that aren’t originally in the books and adding smut. The original books are for a middle grade audience and I intend to keep it that way. And also these are minors.

My ultimate goal is just to make a version of Harry Potter we can read without the guilt of supporting a disgusting transphobe. I’ll be posting polls frequently asking The People about ships and headcanons for queer and disabled representation so make sure you follow so you don’t miss any.
