#29: Adopt pets, don’t buy them from stores and mills
The sad truth is that every domestic animal that is cared for adds to humanity’s carbon footprint. More importantly, thousands of animals await a loving home every day in shelters or from owners who can’t keep them anymore. When you are looking for a pet, consider adopting an animal in need instead of supporting mills and breeders.

One of our grade 8 students made a microhome, that would work in the future as a space-saving home. She used plaster strips, popsicle sticks, cardboard, air-dry clay, paint, paperclips and ceiling tile for a base. She decided to create a micro home because she thinks they are the homes of the future, they cost less to build, use less energy and materials to build and they provide a space with everything that the average adult needs.
This grade 8 student decided to make 2 bioshelter models and compared them to decide which one was better. He decided to do this because he thought that bioshelters would be a big thing in the future, and so he decided to compare a style between private and communal bioshelters, to see which type would be more effective. He used toothpicks, clay, hot glue, plaster, and Popsicle sticks, as well as ceiling tile. He thinks that the communal bioshelter is more effective.
One of our grade 7 students made a water filter using cilantro. She says that her inspiration was when she saw unique-looking containers and thought that they would be good for water filtration, and knew that cilantro purified water well. She used cylindrical rubber containers and cilantro to make this happen, and she’s very satisfied with the final result.
This beauty is a homemade water filter, it was made by one of our grade seven students, he believes that we should use rain collectors to collect water for purposes such as flooding an ice rink, watering your garden, and in your toilets. He used an old coffee tin, air dry clay, craft foam some sheer fabric and hot glue. The step he took are: 1. Find an old coffee tin that you want too revamp! 2. Cut a hole in the lid. 3. Glue the fabric over the hole. 4. create a tube from your craft foam. 5. Seal around the edges with clay to seal everything in. Make sure It doesn’t crack! 6. I sealed the seal with cling wrap and secure that.
And presto you have yourself a homemade rain collector.
