Heavy Rain Just Below the Snow Line
Feb. 13, 2025
We got about two inches of rain today and it was absolutely torrential. We still have limited rain collection capacity, but we carried over 100 gallons of water by hand in buckets from our one rain barrel on the one side of our tiny house roof that has a gutter to our larger water tanks this afternoon. If we had more capacity, we could have collected 1000 gallons, and that is no exaggeration.
We bailed rivers of water out of our horse's pen as the rain continued to fall until around sunset. LA also got slammed with rain and as of 7pm this evening, LAX received 1.90 inches.
Southern California could get around 3 inches of rain along the coast and 6 inches in the mountains by the end of the storm tomorrow. The flood watch for SoCal is over now and we're forecast to have snow overnight and throughout the day tomorrow here in the mountains.
