josiechen:
“You sure? No dessert to go with that hearty dinner?” She gestured to the hot dogs, her tone filled with something resembling mirth, as she felt a grin tugging at her lips. One formed, but it was small and barely there. It had nothing to do with her company; it was merely that she’d forgotten how to use those muscles, apparently. “Something like that. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’m not anti-social, but well… maybe I am, a little.” She chuckled lightly, fingers toying with a piece of the funnel cake before she tore it off and popped it into her mouth. She swallowed it down with a drink from her cup. “And what about you? Waiting for someone else or do you prefer to not be surrounded by twenty loud people as well?”
“My favorite dessert is waiting for me in my fridge, gotta keep some space here for it.” Thony grinned, one of those simple smiles of his. Also he wasn’t much of a cake fan, but he wouldn’t say that to the girl who offered him. As she was explaining him about her not being anti-social, a voice inside Thony’s mind reminded him how anti-social he was himself. He wasn’t a people’s guy, but he worked with them so he knew how to control his levels of anti-social. “I’m... anti-social.” He went straight for it. “I mean, not the bad kind of anti-social, I’m just the kind of guy that enjoys being around people just as much as enjoys being alone, but twenty is too much, in that case I would gladly sit alone.” He chuckled lightly, just trying to be more friendly. “I’m Anthony.”
“You know what I like the most about this festival?" Anthony asked the person who were standing next to him for a while now. “It’s a great opportunity for the town. There had been many people moving out, many people closing their business, and others just fighting to keep things going.” He sighed quite deeply. He was one of those people, his farm was going great, but business weren’t. Movement was low. “Maybe with more festivals like this one people from other places can see that this is a great place to live, don’t you think?”
Leave it to Josie to pass by every booth in favor of getting her hands on some funnel cake. That, and she was undoubtedly the only person walking aroud with a plastic cup full of the champagne she’d kept in the trunk of her car. How classy. The thought crossed her mind, almost self-deprecatingly, as she tore off a piece of the funnel cake and shoved it into her mouth, careful not to spill any of her cup as she searched for a place to sit. Of course, most of the tables were occupied by groups of people and though she was feeling more social than usual, she wasn’t feeling nearly that social. A sigh of relief escaped her as her gaze landed on a table where only one person was seated, and she quickly made a beeline for it. She took a seat without asking, and immediately felt embarrassed when she realized how rude that had been of her. “I– sorry.” She mumbled, shoving her plate into the middle of the table. “Funnel cake?” She offered, in the hopes that they wouldn’t comment on her lack of manners.
Whenever there’s a festival in town Anthony thinks twice before really deciding to go, he’s a shy kind of guy who doesn’t actually know how to behave when around too many people and loud talkings, his friends were around the festival but when eating his hot dogs, Thony was alone, at least until a girl came sit with him, and say nothing for a few seconds so he just kept staring at her like waiting to see if she was there to talk to him or just looking for an less filled table. When she spoke, he just grinned. “I’m cool, thanks.” Thony pointed to the half hot dog in hand and the other one waiting for him right on the table. “Looking for a place to sit where you wouldn’t have to be around twenty loud people, right?”

He cradled his trio of beers carefully in his hands as he made his way through the crowd. He was really just trying to get out and meet the people of the small town and he figured the carnival would be a great place to do it. Ever since he moved to the town two weeks ago he had been nothing short of a shut in, only leaving his small apartment for coffee and, once, a quick trip to the corner store to grab a bottle of vodka and orange juice, but he was determined to get out of his shell and meet people, or at the very least enjoy his time watching the local theater troupe perform their version of The Taming of the Shrew.
“Sorry, is this seat taken?” He asked, nodding toward the open spot with a hopeful grin.
Festivals were great, and there were so many people there that Anthony had never seen in his life, that festival meant new people coming into town and it was good, this place needed new people. As people would go by, Anthony was just chilling at his table, eating some hot dogs and watching everything around him. That’s when someone came closer, before listening to his words, Thony looked at the man and just made a facial recognition, he didn’t knew him, but the guy seemed nice, so Anthony just finished his bite and pointed to the seat in front of him. “Be my guest!” He nodded. “Enjoying the festival or just here for the food and beer?”
Balancing a tray of fries and a plastic cup of beer in one hand as he attempted to put his wallet back in his pocket wasn’t a good idea. Specially after the liquid spill over someone passing near. “Oh shit! What a dumbass, I’m so sorry ──take some fries as an apology maybe?“
Food was always a great thing, Anthony was used to cook, but when he was out and around town, he loved to eat hot dogs, he was easy to please, while walking back to the more quiet area with two hot dogs in hands, he only took the chance to look at the guy next to him when he felt the cold wet sensation of some liquid getting his skin to chills. “Oh shit.” He moved a step back as a reflex, but his shirt was already wet on a side. “Damn... this was a new shirt.” He sighed, moving eyes back to the guy. “It’s ok, I won’t take your fries, it wasn’t your fault, but, maybe you should try to have less things on your hands, don’t you think?” As Anthony would speak, he rested both hot dogs on a nearby table and just started to try to squeeze some of the beer out of his shirt. “Not everyone wouldn’t mind to have beer all over them.”
Even though Robert had all the means to look after the Belgian Malinois, Emmerick had insisted that he took the little fella around the festivities. His suggestion was met with some hesitation, but he already had some fuel to further persuade his friend. After he pointed out that Robert wouldn’t have to split his attention between the stall and his dog, he was allowed to dog sit for the day. Overjoyed, he then wandered around the festivities with a newfound friend in tow.
That being said, he might have spent the better portion of the day ogling over Robert’s new dog instead of all the glitz and glamour the summer bash provided. He couldn’t help how adorable the puppy was; all bright eyed and full of energy. Yet when he saw a familiar face in the crowd, he stopped by to say strike up some small talk by habit. And when the puppy craned towards the other to sniff, his attention was redirected to the animal instead of the casual pleasantries he’d been in the middle of.
“Isn’t he cute? I’m glad Robert decided to take him in, but he still doesn’t have a name yet. Got any suggestions?”
Anthony was trying to have a good time, his mind had been quite busy in the past few days with the farm and the vegetables being eaten by crickets, but it felt good to go to a city event without having to sell anything, this time he was just enjoying the enviroment. As he was a little distracted by things, he noticed the cutest puppy he had ever seen, with those cute huge ears. That pulled a smile out of Thony, who listened to the other man’s words and just shrugged. “I think Robert wouldn’t mind to have him called Robert Junior.” He nodded, lightly petting the puppy’s head. “Where you guys found him?”
