The Squireville gardens in flower 🌸 Land granted to James Squire in 1795, together with adjoining lands bought, established what may have been the first brewery in Australia in 1798. Bennelong and his wife Barangaroo were buried on a section of this property at Kissing Point. The Squireville House was built circa 1850 by grandson James Squire Farnell who became the first Aust-born Premier of NSW. Later sold to Patrician Brothers in 1890 for retired priests and where Holy Cross College was started before building across the road. After 1898, Squireville became part of St Brigid's Orphanage for Girls, run by the Sisters of Mercy until 1979. In 1990 Meriton Apartments bought Squireville and is now residential Units. Brad and Caleb take care of this site and recently won first prize in the City of Ryde Spring Competition in the section of local community gardens! Our first year Apprentice showing off his hedging skills on these beautiful gardens at the historic 1841 Old Sugarworks on the banks of the Cooks river in Canterbury, the factory was converted into apartments and occupied in 2004. The building is of National significance being only one of two privately built pre-gold rush industrial buildings left in Sydney. Nothing like a stroll through The Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney on a beautiful September Sunday. This is their InBloom exhibition, the green wall in The Calyx, has over 20,000 plants installed for this display which is one of largest living green walls in the Southern Hemisphere.
