How it felt meeting all the NCR brass before meeting Colonel Moore
You never really hear about a legionary living over the age of 50
Stressed about exams so I turned captain curtis into a colonial. Iykyk
Modern AU Moore would have loved photoshop don’t ask me the details on that
Curtis pissed me tf off today so I put him in the backrooms
Thinking about Colonel Royez prior to the nuking of the long 15. I honestly think Royez was a ghoul, maybe that was something that helped him survive the nuke and become a marked man.
When I'm actually trying to visualise him, Harland keeps coming up for whatever reason, so perhaps he just looks similar to Harland. As I'm writing this the name Sebastian came into my head so maybe I'll hc that's his first name.
He's obviously quite strong given he wears power armour. Honestly I don't see why? I can't imagine they send a Colonel out as a first line of defense especially on the long 15, which iirc is meant to be pretty safe? I suppose he could just be an engineer working on suits of power armour. Besides all that, I think he's a gentle giant. Again, the long 15 is rather safe, they don't need a vicious Colonel to run the show if caravans are the only things passing through.
I wonder what his relationships with Hsu and Moore are like considering he's not involved in the NCR-Legion war or the Mojave campaign in general. I do think that in the event of an NCR ending, he'll head on over to Vegas to congratulate them or for any dreadful award ceremony. Maybe Hsu and Moore knew Royez prior to his ghoulification, or perhaps he's just an old academy friend. Either way, I think the three of them would be rather buddy-buddy, but Royez often has to mediate arguments between hsumoore. The fact he doesn't have to deal with their shit on the regular is a blessing
Can we talk about Royez more? He's cute :(
Few nights ago I needed a clip of Hsu killing Curtis
Hsumoore don't get to meet very often due to the nature of their jobs, buuuttt they do correspond with each other frequently—primarily professionally, but on the rare occasion it's personal. However that is quite rare, they both think some things are better discussed in person—that and also they leave no paper trail that way
Organising a meeting outside of work is immediately suspicious to anyone who comes across the email exchange, and 2 colonels consistently meeting up in a hotel for 'discussions regarding troop movement' is equally suspicious
Instead, they have a code word: "suns" — stands for "See U Next Sunday". Usually followed by a "?" or a "." at the end of the email and/or letter. Sure it can be a little suspicious, but unless you know what it stands for, you have nothing to hold against them
Sunday is a good day given it's the end of the week. It wouldn't be unusual for a Colonel to head down to Vegas after a week's work every now and again, and it's certainly a coincidence that two colonels show up at once, and it's only natural they spend the whole night talking to each other, why should the troops care? They're probably too drunk to recognise them anyways
Old Hsu study
I saw this in a comment section and I literally screamed. I can't quite remember the context but it was about the Legion
We find out from Hsu that McCarran's food situation is pretty dire, given Corporal Farber's cooking often sends troops to the latrine (those poor souls)
I also find it funny Hsu seemingly jumps at the opportunity to hire the courier as a cook. Instead of taking revenge on Benny and taking the dam, the courier just lives a humble life cooking for ~300 troops daily
Farber can't be blamed for this ^^ I'm sure he's a fine chef, it's just the supply is letting him down. There's definitely some perpetual stew that's given to troops who won't pay for 'better'
Also the idea that a NCR food inspector visits McCarran? Seriously, they have time for that? What happens if the kitchen gets shut down??
I'm a big fan of these pictures of Hsu where it isn't actually Hsu at all
I just find it fascinating I can find 8+ examples of this. I genuinely forgot what he looks like.
Hey, it's me, Tumbleweed I still remember that one time Hsu yelled at me when I asked him for reinforcements. I was so surprised and upset :'D >Captain Gilles at Bitter Springs needs reinforcements. Can you spare any? >{Baffled, this is a bizarre request} What? Why on earth would you think you can walk in here and make troop deployment recommendations to me? Can we discuss this, please? :D
I was actually planning to make a post on this because I find it so interesting. I've never really gotten the dialogue because I always have a high NCR rep by the time I get to Bitter-Springs, so (un)fortunately Hsu has never yelled at me. I still find it very interesting.
It makes me wonder if Hsu had involvement with Bitter-Springs. Iirc, Bitter-Springs happened in 2278? It's possible he was still the commanding officer in the Vegas region then. I doubt he was the one sending out orders, instead placing the trust in his subordinates to do the right thing. After the massacre, people would have turned to him for an explanation, and that would certainly weigh on his consciousness.
Maybe that's why he has such an outburst when you bring it up to him. He feels guilty and responsible, perhaps he tries to forget about it instead of facing it head on.
However you have to consider that Hsu only does this with a low NCR rep Courier. I believe if you have liked or higher rep, he listens to the courier's request. So maybe he is willing to help out.
I can see why he gets angry; if some random ass mailman walked into my office and tried to tell me how I should do my job, I'd be pissed off too, regardless of whether they're right or wrong. Whooooo do you think you are?? McCarran is already short-staffed enough.
Maybe stepping on the Colonel's toes isn't a good idea until you've shown the NCR that you are actively helping them.
I honestly think the second option is more likely—that being Hsu doesn't want some mailman telling him how to do his job, especially when looking at the other dialogue options. He's obviously open to helping Bitter-Springs out, all he needs is the right messenger
Something I always find myself thinking about is Mr. New Vegas' reports about McCarran
I wonder who the NCR official(s) were. It would have to be between Hsu, Boyd, and Dhatri. Maybe Curtis relayed the information about Oliver to the Legion, hence unconfirmed reports. He obviously wouldn't speak about the monorail
I find the first one here particularly interesting because the spokesperson for the NCR lies. I would presume it's an NCR official, maybe even Crocker, but I find that to be unlikely since he isn't present at McCarran.
I find both the idea of Hsu being interviewed and lying in that interview interesting. Sort of shows his panic, as well as his first instinct as an officer to cover something up. I like seeing that side of him
Saw something that reminded me of this tweet
Do you think Hsu got his eyebrows waxed off as a joke and they never grew back or was he just born with(out) them
Do you think the troops make fun of him for this behind his back
