Collection item of the week: unfinished embroidery by fabric artist Ina Golub depicting a lion, with a detail showing the different types of metal threads she used to form the lion.
Collection item of the week: Zira Cigarette silk depicting Queen Esther, New Jersey, ca. 1911. Cigarette silks, issued in thematic sets including historical queens came in cigarette packages. They could be used to make quilts and were intended to encourage women to smoke more.
Collection item of the week: Jewish Welfare Board United War Work Campaign poster for the week of November 11, 1918. At the request of President Wilson, seven organizations worked together to raise $170,000,000 to provide entertainment to American troops abroad. Although the campaign began the day the war ended, the campaign continued to fundraise and troops remained in France into 1919. Collection item of the week: The market [in Lodz] before Passover, oil on canvas by David Dzienciarski (1912-1980), oil on canvas, Israel, 1970s.
Collection item of the week: Black Wedding, a painting by Samuel Rothbort (1882-1971) probably based on memories of his early years in Wolkowisk (Belarus). This illustrates an Eastern European folk tradition of marrying two people in a cemetery to ward off an epidemic.

Collection items of the week: 19th century wedding dresses from Gallipoli (left), Morocco (center), and New York City (right)

Collection item of the week: Ruth, stencil on velvet, Bezalel, ca. 1920s.

I get no notes because as soon as someone finishes reading my post they are compelled to put down their phone and experience the wonders of the world around them with fresh eyes
