“Of course I get you! Things like this are very important to me, which sounds so superficial and small but oh well. I had a massive crush on Spinner too so when they kept him around I tried to get into it but him liking these little kids and dating them was so weird and bizarre and unfortunate. I’ve never seen the Wolverine series that you are so upset about but I’m sure it’s disappointing nonetheless. I’m glad I haven’t because I don’t need to add it to the list of misfortunes that already make up my RIP MOVIE list. Have you seen Fuller House yet? It’s actually not disappointing!”
“It’s not superficial to me at all, I completely understand and I’m here to back you up damn. It’s silly to think it’d be considered that, we’ve all watched t.v and whatnot growing up. Who’s to say we can’t care about our own interests that hold true to the shows? I loved Spinner and Jimmy’s friendship, now that was an actual brotp. He slowly grew to be creepy as they dragged him along, and the entire Degrassi movie was just like what? It is disappointing, seriously. I’ve actually just started the first episode and it’s not disappointing or close to it, I feel like I just missed seasons in between and the show had never left. It’s all too much the same. And that’s what’s cool about it!”

Her mouth practically fell open when the male confessed that he hadn’t seen more than a couple movies. “You’re kidding right? Conall, we’re having a Harry Potter marathon as soon as you have an entire day open to spending with me,” Rosie told him seriously. “I’m sorry, but there’s no way we can be friends without you at least giving the movies a chance. The books are wonderful and amazing and I own all of them in a cute little special edition trunk, but the films are incredible.” She set her coffee down in front of her, hands still on the mug. “I get it though, honestly I do. So are they going to nix Wolverine altogether? I don’t see anyone able to play him as well as Hugh, to be honest.”
“I really wish I was kidding, kind of felt out of the loop when the craze was going on. See I’m not opposed to that idea, I would love to watch them all and get obsessed. Who needs sleep anyways right?” He shrugged, raising his voice in a sarcastic tone before laughing. “I may try reading the books, to get a better sense of them but that’ll take me forever so I don’t mind starting with the movies and working my way back to the books-- though that’s strange.” Conall grinned, taking her proposal seriously for a movie marathon as she continued to speak. “They haven’t spoken on the entire thing but I’d be more than angry if they tried to replace him. They can’t even do a younger version of himself because it wouldn’t prove interesting considering he got the transformation from his previous mutan abilities to the metal ones we see now. It’d just be odd?”

She nodded a few times, unsure of what to say now, but she tried not to think too much about it. Conall was just beginning to be a good friend of her’s and she didn’t want to ruin anything about it. “Honestly, no, I don’t get it, but I didn’t get most things in my life, so it’s alright.” Continuing to avoid eye contact, she still looked at their surroundings while also paying attention to anything he said. A hand lightly rubbed her arm, attempting to warm herself up, but failed miserably. Moving the same hand, she scratched the back of her head and finally turned her head to him. “That’s good, because if you did, I’d be mad at you for another twenty years,” she said jokingly with a smile. She stood up from the bench a moment later, assuming they were either going to go their own ways or that they’d talk longer and if it was the ladder, she’d prefer to be somewhere warm by now. “So, do you plan on going back to your frat house? Because if you are, then I’ll just head home too.” She shrugged and bit her lip as she was getting an awkward feeling again.
The male knew very well he’d confused her, he did the same for himself considering the fact that his mind got lost following track with his words. It was hard to explain but he didn’t want her shrugging it off, as if the entire situation meant nothing to him. He knew how it felt to confess to another, had he been in her situation he’d preferred to have a solid answer back that would at solidify his place in it all. “What I meant-- or at least mean, is that I don’t know where I stand. I’ve never tried to look at you any other way than a friend, but the thought of it doesn’t bother me. -- - wait that was a wrong choice of words, i mean it doesn’t change for me. I’m more than calm and I feel like that just has to do with the fact that it’s nice to hear or at least know. I’m hearing you say it and It makes me happy but not in the way where I’m boosting my ego. But like there’s a part of me that could feel more or something, I just need time to figure it out fully. I know you didn’t confess something crazy but that’s just what’s in my head right now and I thought you deserved to know at least.” He smiled, letting out a sigh of slight relief. He’d gotten out what he had to say and wanted to say and that was enough for himself at the moment. “Nah, I planned on staying out in the cold to freeze my ass off. -- - I was actually just gonna grab food, considering you pulled me out of bed anyways. Care to join or are you going to be awkward about it?” He teased.

“have you ever thought about if mutants really did exist though? like i could be one right now. my powers are just late developers. i often wonder if i want to live in a harry potter universe, or a super hero one. it’s such a hard decision for me. i do love the wolverine though. he’s one of the OG’s of the x-men. doesn’t take shit, is badass, and honestly just fucking sick.”
“i constantly think about it and hope to god i’m a late bloomer, anytime i see a bald man in a wheel chair i think to myself ‘shit son, it’s about to go down here comes professor x.’ but obviously it’s just some rando. i’d be down for harry potter, but my childhood dream would be the marvel universe itself and to be associated with the family like dream team x-men. wolverine is a top notch guy, pretty a much a legend in the entire x-men series.”

Heather knew that arguing with Conall was like arguing with herself; it was no use, and honestly all she was doing was stressing herself out more. A sigh escaped her lips and she didn’t even try and fight him when he tied the balloons around her wrist. “Fine. But only because I know you won’t stop if I don’t do what you say. Just so you know now, I won’t enjoy it.”
He let out a light sigh, feeling a cloud of guilt rush over him. He hadn’t wanted to force her into the entire celebration, Conall wanted her to grow into liking it and though he’d tried many times it just seemed to not change for the other. “Alright, how about this.. you open the gift and we’ll simply enjoy ourselves a regular day after that? No birthday talk-- but you gotta open the gift.” He smiled, holding out the box that contained a picture frame, craved with a few small doodles he’d made himself and a picture of the two inside it.

“You know, I sort of felt that way when they decided to bring in an entirely new cast of Degrassi students. Like, I get it, Emma and Manny are going to graduate eventually but couldn’t they make senior year just a little longer? Can’t Craig focus too much on his music career and accidentally fail out and have to repeat grade 12 all over again? Sigh… it’s things like this that make you not want to grow up. Then you have all these stupid little fresh actors coming in and ruining these epic roles for you. I feel you Conall, I feel you.”
“Don’t even get me started on that crap. Degrassi was such an excellent show, when I was younger, at showcasing teen issues and struggles. The actors were amazing and brought out each character alive as it progressed, seeing that they had to graduate and move on just killed me because you’d think they’d bring in a good crew-- fuck no. They brought the worst crop of actors I’ve ever seen, they must have also fired the writers cause the entire script for the show was complete shit and the storylines never melted well together.. it was horrible. I don’t know how people can continue with that anymore, it’s been ruined for me. See I knew you’d get me, Ash.”

Rosie happily sipped her coffee, listening to Conall’s voice go on and on about his superheroes and how he was displeased. But, her smile didn’t fade. She loved hearing about what people were passionate about. “The only thing I can compare that to was when Richard Harris was re cast in Harry Potter but I guess it’s a bit different because he died and that’s the only reason he was replaced.”
Crossing his arms onto the table, he gave a slight nod, falling into the conversation more as she spoke on her own relation towards his previous rant. It was nice to witness someone else’s experience on the simple topic, he was already intrigued when Rosie compared it to Harry Potter. “No, it’s still understand able though I’d probably more upset had the same thing happened for either of those men. I never really got into Harry Potter, the entire plot line is amazing I can’t lie I just wasn’t pulled in as a child. I think I’ve seen a few of the films, not all but a good amount. Besides, I feel like when it’s a character pulled from a novel-- compared to a comic, you paint your own picture for a character and to have someone fully embody it is hard, and then to have them replaced hurts especially when they passed away themselves.”

Heather could feel her headache growing as she turned around, her right eye twitching slightly, which it always did when she felt stressed. “Conall,” Heather sighed. “I don’t know how to break the news to you, but I’m about 98% sure I didn’t push through my mother’s vagina and into the world on this day,” she laughed. “It’s just a day my parents picked for the adoption papers, it’s not that big of a deal. And who told you to buy 22 balloons? For all we know, I’m not even 22.”
“Oh God, Heather-- For the last time, we are going to celebrate this day just like anyone else would. So for me and anyone else, you popped out today and who knows this could actually be the day-- though the chances are highly unlikely in most cases.” He sighed along with her, holding out the balloons before tugging them back and simply tying them along her wrist without much of a word on it. “We’re going with 22, there’s a Taylor Swift song out for you and we can jam to it. But I’m not letting you sit gloomy about this or ignoring it, you deserve to celebrate a day just as much as anyone else.”
“I was watching the solo movie Hugh Jackman had for Wolverine, y’know upping my excitement for the new one to come as one does. And honestly, ever since I was a little fuck I loved any movie he was in and it’s safe to say Wolverine wouldn’t be much if anyone else played him. Throughout the entire movie, I realized being the dumb kid I am, he won’t be playing him for long.. like his contract is up soon and he’s not about to go down that road, especially since Wolverine himself isn’t one to age and clearly he does. It just killed me, I swear to God I felt a piece of my childhood crumble in the back of my mind. It’s also fucked that Ian Mckellen and Patrick Stewart have been replaced and are going to be staring in their last ones. -- - I know I’m rambling but I just had to share.”

“Look, it’s not a big deal,” Heather shook her head, eyes trained on the bulletin board in front of her. “I’m not big on birthday’s, there’s a reason I’m not bringing attention to it. It’s just another day.”
“Not a big deal?” Conall scoffed, shaking about the 22 balloons he held in his hand along with a neatly wrapped gift. “I think it is a big deal, especially when 22 balloons cost so damn much around here.” He joked, swatting a few balloons away from his face while smiling towards Heather. “Look, you are one of my closest friends and to not show you how happy I am at your mad flow out of a vagina on this day, would be just disgraceful. Because I’d be super down, had you not pushed through the walls of your mothers vagina and into this world-- ya know? So accept the love and the gifts because I’m not going anywhere.”
