Coca Cola
wc: 184 @wolfstarmicrofic
"What is that?" Sirius stared at the red can like it might explode.
"Coca Cola." Remus popped the tab, the fizz making Sirius jump. "Muggle drink. You've really never had one?"
"The Noble and Most Ancient House of Black don't drink... muggle drinks." But Sirius's curiosity was already winning. "Is it safe?"
"Perfectly." Remus took a long sip, watching Sirius's fascination with quiet amusement. "Here."
Sirius accepted the can gingerly, sniffed it, then took a cautious drink. His eyes went wide. "Merlin'sāit's fizzy. Why is it fizzy?"
"Carbonation."
"It tingles!" Sirius took another gulp, then another, grinning like he'd discovered something revolutionary. "This is brilliant. Why don't wizards have this?"
"We have Butterbeer."
"Not the same." Sirius was already halfway through the can. "We're getting more of these. Cases of them. I'm introducing James to this immediately."
Remus laughed, shaking his head. "Your mother would have a stroke."
"Excellent." Sirius's smile turned wicked. "Another reason to love Muggle beverages."
It became their thing after thatāsneaking Coca Colas during Hogsmeade weekends, sharing cans on the Astronomy Tower. Small rebellions.
Sweet, fizzy freedom.
Of course I would end up reading a post about Remus introducing Sirius to Coca-Cola while I'm drinking one
I know it's an unpopular opinion but I don't like Star Wars, anyone know how to block certain fandoms from popping up on your feed?

Please reblog to make sure everyone is equipped!
I was asked to reblog
Iām constantly thinking about how Cole is such a balanced mix of his parents. Obviously the first thing is that he looks like both of his parents (resembling Lou earlier in the show and then post-redesign more like Lilly, which is fun if you interpret it as him growing into his mothers features) but it goes past that right into his themes, fighting style, and morals especially.
So, his true potential episode has him lying to his dad and planning to steal the fangblade/blade cup. Everyone kinda knows this as the accidental coming out allegory but itās VERY compelling to look at Louās reaction as him not even really being mad about Cole being a ninja. He seemed angry and disappointed in the fact that Cole wasnāt who he thought he was, in the sense of him not actually wanting to follow Louās footsteps and the fact that he was stealing the blade-cup. Lou specifically says these two lines; āI canāt be proud of any son who thinks stealing is right. And Iām not going to wait around to watch you make a mockery of our familyās legacy!ā And then after their performance āmore importantly I saw you fight. Those serpentine were up to no good, trying to steal the show, and I saw you stand up for what is right!ā
(<- direct quotes are taken from this post by razzle-zazzle, which you should read btw, inspired me to finally write these thoughts down.)
(Also itās worth noting Cole also denounces stealing later lmao, as seen in here.)
This is pretty direct proof that he values doing the right thing, and distinctly doing things the right way (<ā also a trait cole VERY much shares). Which is something he did have to relearn and adjust upon understanding his son not doing exactly what he wants doesnāt have to be bad (self promo but this post goes into how Louās mindset affected Coleās btw). The second statement is also very reminiscent of what Lilly says to Cole in MOTM, the āpromise me youāll always stand up for what is rightā talk. To tie this together basically while MOTM is a very clear and thorough look at how Cole takes after Lilly, Lou is very present in his moral system too. Additionally, Lou is an incredibly passionate man, and clearly expresses and puts himself into dancing which very much mirrors how Cole treats being a ninja sometimes, and his arc about finding himself.
That segways nicely into the fact that Coleās fighting style is ABSOLUTELY a mix of the strength and power of his mother, and the gracefulness of his father. You actually see Cole denounce his fatherās grace by the way, way early before his true potential moment. He seemed insecure about it, which is certainly some kind of toxic masculinity thing because his younger self did not feel like that.
See, Way Of The Departed;
It compliments his arc about learning who he is, and becoming softer because of it really well. He doesnāt have to be insecure about his dad being elegant, because that isnāt a bad thing. He can learn to love dancing in his own way to, in a way thatās safe and his. He can incorporate it into how he fights, and this is something pointed out by @/razzle-zazzle but the tripple tiger sashay resembles an attack too.
Basically, Cole is both his parentās child, and they equally influence the person heās become, but heās not just an arbitrary mix either. He takes the legacies of both and molds them into his own, for the better. He finds balance! It was always about balance with him.
I looove thinking about where Coleās traits of anxiety and being so hard on himself came from. Obviously sometimes it genetic but thereās things in his life that could be factors. Namely one is heās always seemed to carry some strong internal sense of justice. In the flashback scene in motm with Lilly he describes the reason why he got into a fight with another kid being because the other kid was a bully. A trait like that can and does lead to people fixating on their ability to do what they think is right, which he consistently shows he does fixate on. Another thing to note is that he grew up with a combination of a very clearly heroic mother who imprinted her morals and expectations onto him(to be clear, not a bad thing) and then a father who expected too much with too harsh of an attitude. That being expecting Cole to be able to master a dance technique not even grown men could, and when we see him train the ninja in Coleās true potential episode heās very harsh with his reprimands and directions. Even the doorbell scene, where he slams the door shut and keeps it shut until Cole does what he believes is the correct way to announce his presence.
Itās also worth noting having a chronically ill and then terminally ill mother throughout childhood is a source of consistent stress, especially on a childās brain and with the effects it can cause later. Then of course being left alone with his grief as a young teenager because his father became absent in his own grief has itās own set of effects regarding trust, self esteem, and coping skills with anxiety.
Speaking of coping skills, I find Coleās specific methods so interesting. He seems to go through this pattern of an initial conflict appearing (his father, ghost-hood and fading, struggling to live up to his mother in MOTM), trying overly hard to not let it affect him / deal with it alone, and then crashing and giving up when he canāt (which he seems to conceptualize as an inherent failure on his part, rather than a failure of support). This āgiving upā can also come with a running away or distancing from his loved ones which I think is one part shame and one part being overwhelmed (<- I really think he projects his own ideas of how he should deal with things alone and some kind of Responsibility Complex onto other people and how he thinks they see him) (<- which leads to occasional resentment).
Don't forget that Cole (and the others but I believe Cole's would be the worst) likely has moderate to severe PTSD from all the crap the writers put him though. I mean if he didn't unlock his true potential when he did he and his dad would've been crushed by stage equipment, got turned into a ghost, as a ghost if he got wet he would die as in die die, fell at least 100 feet though solid steel and concrete when the rope ladder snapped in March of the Oni, and after the 100 foot fall he nearly gets frozen like Cyrus Borg getting to his Earth Driller just to name a few because he has gone through way more in the series
Cole being the kinda guy to absolutely hate something only to later be obsessed is so real.
Cole and his love for dragons COME BACK TO MEEEEE
If the writers remembered Coleās love for dragons they wouldāve made him squeal after learning that not only is his teammate quarter dragons, but that his sensei and his long term enemy are part dragon.
Imagine Cole cornering Wu in his meditation room to interrogate him about Dragons. Imagine how he couldāve been internally squealing after going to the first realm, he was surrounded, by dragons.
Happy 14th Anniversary Ninjago
