At Celaryn switching to Draconic, Kina’s face lights up with a joy so bright it would put the sun in a dessert to shame. Then, as if someone’s let out all the air of a balloon, she deflates; the happiness seeps away from her face and body language, tail stilling and muzzle closing.

With a whip of Arcane, she’s back in front of the fire, whining into Jasculs’ chest. He holds her close with one arm, the other tending to the simmering pot.

“Don’t mind her,” he says, voice croaking so badly the words are lost to the wind. He clears his throat and tries again. “Don’t mind her. She’s usually a ball of energy, but today’s been rough on her. Her name’s Kina.”

Mo’hir stands and stretches, then saunters over to the fire. She sits to the left, making room for Celaryn between herself and Kina, and claps the space there in an attempt to indicate for Celaryn to come over. Then, she takes up stirring the pot for Jasculs so he can focus his attention on Kina and Celaryn- an act that puts a smile on his face and warmth in his heart. He mouths a ‘thank you’ to her.

Jasculs pulls Kina all the way into his lap and engulfs her in a hug. “You can speak whatever language you prefer, really. I speak most things. Kina’s still learning, but she knows a bit of everything.”
