The Last Respone

As this being my final post I would like end it with a solid Last Response to the Humanities 220 class. The three spaces I have chosen to repost about are "Enjoying Freedom," "Open," and "Harmony." The reason why I chose this spaces is because the words themselves represent not only my space but also represents me loving my college experience. I feel that this words portray what it feels like for a first time college student, a freshman, feels like the minute his or her parents leave and knowing that this may be that they could be whoever they wanted to be.

These three simple words that aren't very big but the hold a great value to everyone spaces also show that this people might look at life in a more positive and very wide spectrum. The word that I chose to use was liberation and that word I feel like the synonyms for it are open, freedom, and harmony. 

The open aspect is that as a person you are letting yourself not be locked but be able to mingle and try new things that you never thought you could do. Freedom, now that is a strong word that can represent so many things like fourth of July, a person receiving their drivers license, or moving out of the house for the first time. Harmony meaning that someone or something is in joy of what life has to offer. Liberation, the word that I chose, has meaning to everything I just described and is able to represent more of power and that someone or some idea has accomplished something.

Liberation

Through this past semester I have paid attention to the space of downtown Chico and have concluded that the word that signifies my area is "Liberation." The reason why I chose this word because the meaning of liberation holds many different meanings. But for this case I feel liberation means that people are able to reach out of the box and try something new in creating a new business. Someone creating a business has a sense of ownership and pride in what they want to create. 

To me, liberation was not ever mentioned in the course material that I learned in Humanities 220 but liberation is definitely an antonym for the word that was used basically throughout the semester, that word being "Confinement." This word was portrayed through all the books and essays one that stuck in me was "The Letters of Abelard and Heloise," this power duo were lovers but with there love came confinement in where and how they were able to spend time with each other. 

In downtown Chico I see that times have evolved to now marriages are duel partnership where both people choose the way they want to live. This aspect of life has been liberated and has instilled that the two as a couple make decisions with each other. Looking at the vibe that downtown Chico gives off a set of certain feelings of overcoming challenges and difficulties. The owners, shopkeepers, employees, and customers all come together in this one area and contribute to what we call the downtown Chico. Liberation is what built this town in being able to create itself.

What I saw

When looking at everybody's pictures I found myself interested in spaces that are somewhat similar to me. The spaces that I chose to talk about with you are the ones titled "Into the Creek We Go," "Sunset Pond," and "Perfect Moments." To me these carry similar characteristics from mine, for one thing that our spaces are outside and the theme is to me is enjoying the beauty of Chico. 

For my five pictures I choose to post the ones that I took at the Saturday morning farmers market. At this place it brought me to think about other ways of living life that I am not accustomed to at all. But when I look at everyones post I see how everybody's space is unique to them. That everything that everyone does or post about them really tends to show what the person is feeling about things toward their lives. Just by looking at these post for almost the semester now I have noticed that this pictures and readings hold significance not only by the idea of posting but also people are wanting to post things that have significant meaning to not only themselves but to what they believe in.

Colors of Fall This past weekend my friends and I enjoyed the comforts of the fall festivities at the local Chico, Saturday morning farmers market. I looked closely to all the amazing colors that were represented at the farmers market from bright purples to popping orange pumpkins. The space that was used was a community basic parking lot that transformed into a beautiful place that had a lively and creative ambiance. I saw so many different people with many different backgrounds and beliefs. Their were the farmers selling their hardworking produce that they planted nine months ago and now watching it all go away for a profit. There was the hippie he was selling his tie die shirts that he spent hours and creating the right psychedelic vibe to them. In general their were tons of people who had their families there I enjoying the beautiful fall day of Chico🍂🍁🌻

Interesting

The spaces that I have chosen to reblog are the "Walking through Whitney," "Traveling and Watching," and "Out in the Sticks." To me these places are similar to mine. Mine involves walking around a general and familiar area and so does the three that I have reblogged. These spaces are familiar to them just how downtown is familiar to me. All the videos take you through things that the person is doing in their daily life. 

Some things that I find interesting about it is that we all have a routine. Meaning that every day as students we take the same paths, bridges, and roads to get to our familiar space. Sometimes we might mix it up, but for the most part we stick to what we know because it is in our nature as people to try and not to venture out but stay in what we are comfortable in.

This spaces all had some type of walking aspect to them. It wasn't a little area that had to be videotaped for a little while but it was the path that the person takes almost everyday in some way. To me, this is interesting on how someones routine has been looked at in so many different ways. We have not only taken a snapshot of it, but we have mapped it, listened to the noises, and now caught it on a video of our daily life.

"On the Streets"

This is me walking downtown Chico with my roommate! We were talking in the fresh air, watching the leaves change, and enjoying everyone around us. I truly enjoyed taking a walk and seeing what downtown Chico is up and doing around 3:30 on a Wednesday afternoon. I had a great time wandering around in my space.

The Roads of Chico

The significant features of this idea of dropping a pin down is that you see what the main areas of the town are. By looking at the map I can tell that there are a few restaurants that are very common that people look up in Chico like The Graduate and Woodstocks Pizza. Also streets that are found in Chico are also shown not all of them but from this distance only a few are shown like W. 6th Street and Chestnut. This idea of looking at the downtown Chico at this angle is really different a lot of key places are missing but then again I stopped zooming to see what else it will show. This poses a question in my head of what else can't we see? I stopped zooming in but if I zoomed in all the way I would still be missing key things of this map for, example people! People are what define a certain space and help give a description of this space. A map can show where you're at or how to get to your destination but it cannot show what type of atmosphere or culture that walks the streets.

Spatial Observation Response

The three spaces that I choose were the Second Floor Audio, Wind by the Creek, and Sounds of the Pasture. This three things stuck out to me because they are completely opposite of what I posted for my spatial observation post. When I hear and think of these places I think of relaxing, peaceful, and focussed thoughts. Someone might be looking for a place like this to study, to think about life, or to get some fresh air. My area of spatial observation that I chose contradicts the idea of relaxation for most people but involves a very high intensity atmosphere and is very upbeat and exciting. The classic farmers market can truly identify someone wants for being energetic and wanting to be around people. 

The Similarities that these spaces have in common is that they are very inviting places that people sometime in their life will hopefully want to go to. Being outside helps people relax and realize the true beauty of being outdoors, being outdoors can help you study but can also be very distracting and make you want to drift away and do something else. However, being inside a building will make you want to do the same but it can also add a certain feeling of "I need to get my work done" this is one of the main ideas I think a lot of college students go through. Have a routine is key and depending on what your routine is one of this spaces will fit you.

Spatial Observation (Listening)

Listening in at the local Chico farmers market was a very interesting, yet colorful experience of my life. Something about farmers market that bring together everyone from different backgrounds, different societies, and different personalities. I myself would have to say listening and experiencing everything at the farmers market has opened up a new light in my eyes involving how I view people. Listening to people made me not judge them in the beginning but to really listen to what they have to say and what their beliefs are. 

I heard sounds of laughter, frustration, joy, and of course children crying all over. To me, this is the traditional and what is expected at a typical farmers market. So many loud sounds, not necessarily bad but not necessarily good. I have a similar farmers market where I am from and it reminds me of home so much. The same noises that heard at this farmers market were the same ones that I heard back at home.

A lot of things go on at the farmers market involving produce sales, vendors selling food, people playing music, and sometimes shows be performed. But the biggest thing that it does is that it brings a whole community together which involving people talking and interacting with each other. Throughout this process of me spending time at the farmers market I have learned that their are many paths that I could choose to go through in life and looking and listening to people has made me think about what type of person I want to be. I would consider that this space, the farmers market, would be considered a good place to have quality family time.

Observation Response 1

The three spatial observations that I have chosen to talk about are The Sweet Cottage, My Living Room, and The Library. These places really got me thinking about how many ways you can use a room/building. All three of the these places are purposefully made to do something different. 

The Sweet Cottage was designed to hold a satisfying and tastefully atmosphere for all ages. This place offers many different eye catching things from the stove in the front to the back with the deep red walls that are painted. But in the end this savory cottage is just another room that is used for a whole different purpose.

The My Living Room post represents a space that is someones very own. The room shows how many purposes it is used for from studying to sleeping to relaxation. But this room is just another area that could be used for so many different things, it is still a building.

The Library post is home to thousands of books and useful information. This image captivates a full story of what the library can be used for, Studying! All in all, these pictures have some things in common they are all builders with different purposes, they carry out different emotions from the library being sad and overwhelmed, to the Sweet Cottage being excited and happy for a tasty treat, and for the last one the room being a invited and stress free place. These places are constructed the same to be a room but they have so many different feelings and emotions.
