Hannibal hasn't come in three years. When they run out of underwear and he has to go commando in a pair of thrifted jeans for the remainder of their drive, unwanted friction sparks an awkward conversation and they find themselves in a very unfortunate situation.

hi guys. haven't been active on here in what seems like years, but i've posted a few edits on tiktok in the meantime including this will graham edit i just posted tonight that i'm really happy with. hopefully i'll return in the near future when my life is less of a mess

Unpopular opinion:

I find it inconceivable that Margot would be able to truly be a good parent to a baby she knew was conceived with Mason’s sperm.

I think she would always be monitoring that kid for signs they were taking after their biological father, and the scrutinizing their every move.

It would be miserable for her, and miserable for the kid.

The idea she would put herself, and a child, in that position is horrifying to me.

I think I agree with this especially because her reasoning to have a baby was to inherit the Verger fortune. The fact that it will have her brother's DNA is the cherry on top.

And this is an issue with all the characters. Their reasoning to have children is broken. Hannibal sees a child as a tool to trap Will or as an extension of Will. Will (we discussed this with lamb in a previous post) would see the child as the worst version of himself and would be obsessed with the thought that the child would turn out to be crazy.

So yeah, I think it's a valid opinion, I can't see Margot as a good mom.

"I envy your suits at times," Will suddenly said as if the thought needed time to crawl itself out of his skull.

"Is that so?" Hannibal asked, aware that Will was not referring to his suits literally. He had, after all, offered many times to introduce him to some very lovely tailors. Each time he had been met with a polite refusal.

"I don't struggle with the way people perceive me but the concept of fitting in can sometimes be attractive," Will replied thoughtfully, "even to me."

"It can be," Hannibal repeated, "It is also quite daunting to take your suit off by the end of the day and to let the fact that all people will ever like about you is the suit itself sink in. If self-acceptance had been a tool, it would have been a hammer. I could say I envy you, at times."

"Flattering," Will said, a smile appearing on his previously thoughtful face. "By the end of the day you can at least remind yourself I don't give a shit about your suits, Hannibal."

"That is a thought I am very fond of," he smiled, mirroring Will. "Appearances are mere accomplices while mirrors happen to be perfect alibis."

"The reflection is an objective confirmation of what you want to show, not of what lies underneath," Will reflected. He went quiet for a few seconds.

"Being the odd man out might actually be the best disguise. No one sees the real you like I do, Will. Are they blind or are you that good at hiding?"

"Or the third option," Will went on, "People don't try to look past the surface. A safe distance is preferable to what can hide behind certain walls. What I envy might actually be the possibility of choosing to stop in front of those walls. I can't stop myself from seeing past surfaces."

"You see the beautiful and the ugly, all at once. Appearances are useless tools when it comes to you. And that is reassuring, Will. You are the only mirror that doesn't tell lies."

"Which is exactly why I am the odd man out. People thrive on lies. If I need a break from the world of masks and deception, I know that all I have to do is knock at your door. You are unafraid of the fact that I can see you."

"Not only am I unafraid," Hannibal said softly, "I am yearning for it."

There's something about the way Hannibal says "Love" so plainly and immediately because that's truly what it is. The way he just breathes it out almost like a sigh, "Love," like he adores just saying the word when it comes in the context of Will. And the way the notes of the piano punctuate his words... It's said plain and simple, but in reality it carries so much weight.

It carries the weight of their entire relationship prior to this- betrayal and forgiveness and all... "bones and all." Loving Will gives Hannibal great joy, but it has also caused him great sorrow. Here Hannibal acknowledges that his love for Will is "beyond his conscious ability to control or predict," which mirrors his words from earlier in the episode:

"You cannot control with respect to whom you fall in love."

This scene has always stood out to me, and it's still one of my favorite moments. When I was doing my anniversary post series and came up with the idea to do the quotes for each episode, what I immediately thought of was this-

"Love. He pays you a visit or he doesn't."

I think it's safe to say Love has certainly paid Hannibal Lecter a visit.

If Dolce was reversed, Hannibal would find Will in an aquarium, sitting on a bench in front of the jellyfish. Think of how pretty the filtered light would look on their faces.

i'm editing- and jack and hannibal sitting so far away from each other at the dinner table when it's just them in episode 4 is so funny to me. i had to think- who would i want to sit that far away from that i practically have to yell across the table for them to hear me (everyone. the answer is everyone. i have misophonia).

Hannigram road trip headcanons

Will falls asleep in 5 minutes on the passenger seat

Hannibal has only opera and classical music CDs so Will keeps switching radio channels until he finds country music to Hannibal's horror

Will buys snacks from the gas stations

If it's a long drive they decide to do half half so the other can get some rest but Hannibal ends up insisting he can do all of it just because he enjoys watching Will sleeping

Will feeds Hannibal snacks while he is driving and Hannibal usually hates snacks especially from gas stations but Will is feeding him and he has the opportunity to bite his fingers so he sacrifices his fancy palette

Will gets snacks but forgets he also needs to pee so they have to stop at the next gas station again

They end up playing car games such as "last letter first" and Hannibal comes up with the most insane words ever just to flex while Will is like "apple" or "tree" and then when Hannibal the least expects it he says "Pulchritudinous"

Will is a bit more reckless when driving, does some maneuvers that make Hannibal go "Will, darling, you seem to be convinced we have seven lives."

They both enjoy showing things outside to the other. Will would point out the horses and bunnies while Hannibal would point out the pretty houses

When they play "I spy with my eye" Hannibal always starts with "The most handsome man on earth" making Will squirm.

Hannibal enjoys country music when Will is humming to it

If Hannibal is driving he has his little roadtrip habits especially if he is with Will. "There is a folder on the backseats. Can you reach it? I made a list of restaurants we can eat at. Choose whichever you like, I did some research." "A folder, Hannibal? Research on what? How many Michelin restaurants you can find in the same area?" "Yes."

Hannibal ends up freezing because Will has the AC on at all times

If they have a flat tire Will does all the work in like 10 minutes so that Hannibal doesn't get his suit dirty

Hannibal rests his right hand on Will's leg

Hannibal makes sure Will's seat is always heated in winter
