“We sort of did though.  I mean I know we were young, but still.” Scott said, shaking his head.  “Ok maybe it won’t completely ruin it, but it won’t be the same.”  Scott sighed.  “I don’t think she wants to talk to me right now, or possibly ever.”

“What did you tell her?” He asked, not sure if he really wanted to know. Stiles sighed a bit and put his face in his hands. It wasn’t a big deal, he had to keep telling himself that it wasn’t a big deal. “Sorry, I’m just, I don’t know. I mean, what are you even thinking right now?”

While everything that had happened seemed so far in the past, Stiles still seemed settled in his own head. He really never figured out what had happened, and he just convinced himself that it didn’t matter. And like always Stiles just continued on with his life not bothering to deal with it at all. One thing that did happen though was him getting closer to Lydia. It wasn’t like he purposely had tried, he just found himself around her more. Like subconsciously everything had brought them to this point for a reason. His eyes glanced up at Lydia from where he had been trying to read an assignment for his next class that he hadn’t done yet. “Why do we have to have homework?”

Stiles couldn’t deny how the kissing made his heart skip a beat. And maybe deep down he had a bit of a crush on the other, but it wasn’t like he had ever even thought about acting on it. Scott found himself wanting to talk to Stiles about stuff that was going on at home, but he didn’t feel like burdening him with it at the moment.  “That’s what you think.” He chuckled, determined to try and win.  “That’s pretty smart though.  Your mom will be proud of us if we get our homework done before she gets home.” Scott nodded, smiling.

Stiles grinned, always happy when Scott gave him a compliment. It was just such a good reassurance. He leaned over and gave him a bit of a push, before throwing his feet on Scott’s lap and laying on his back. “I can be smart sometimes. Plus that way you can help me.”

Lydia swallowed heavily, not pulling away from him just yet. Her brows drew together slightly at his words and she slid her hand down his arm gently as she tried to catch his gaze. “Stay,” she suggested softly. The strawberry blonde didn’t think it was a good idea for Stiles to be alone right now. What happened it wasn’t okay, but it wasn’t his fault either and she needed to make sure he knew that.

“Can I be the little spoon?” He asked, trying not to choke. He was tired of being emotional. He was tired of being a mess. Even though this just happened, it was everything piled on top of each other. He managed to stand up, on shaking legs and pull himself up, leaning on the counter.

“Was it though?  I’ve always felt this like I don’t know connection to you, ever since we were young.  I didn’t want to be without you.  I mean I’m not saying that we knew what it was then, but I don’t know.” He sighed, running a hand through his hair.  “I’m glad you did though.”

Stiles just looked over at Scott. “We didn’t know what we were saying.” He mumbled softly and rubbed his face. Mostly because he wanted to kiss Scott. He wanted to tell him he’d been in love with him since as long as he could remember.  He wanted to finally come clean, but he couldn’t. Scott had Kira. “This won’t ruin our friendship. You should go find Kira and talk to her.”

New Kind of Family

Riley nodded.  “Yeah I know.  That’s why I asked if you were going to be my new mommy.  Because you both love each other.”  She pointed out, cuddling up to Stiles.  Riley started giggling and wriggled when he tickled her.  “Daddy make him stop.” She called out, still laughing.

Scott was glad that Stiles took over because he honestly didn’t know what to say.  He knew Stiles and him had an unconventional friendship and had wondered if they would ever be more than that.  Scott smiled when his best friend started tickling her and let it go on a little longer before snatching her away from him.

More then anything Stiles had just wanted the questions to stop. Because he had spent so long pushing down any feelings he had for Scott. He couldn’t afford to bring those into light right now. Scott needed his best friend, not someone to complicate things in his life. He needed someone to be there for Riley, for him. That was what Stiles was here for. “Never going to stop.” He told her watching as Scott snatched her up. 

His eyes just watched them for a moment, taking in a breath. He loved this family. And it was a family to him, even if he had to just be the supportive best friends role. Stiles rubbed his face a little bit before getting up to go make them something to eat. That would keep her mind off it he hoped. And would help him clear his own as well.

“You wouldn’t like me if I weren’t.” He pointed out, chuckling.  Scott bit his lip and thought about it for a moment.  “Yeah I guess that would be ok.  I don’t think your dad will check on you in the middle of the night.”  He replied, nodding.

“Good because I just want to be close to you.” He told him, glad that Scott was willing to try this. Whatever it was, between them. It was the closest he felt to love in his life, and he didn’t want to lose that. “I’m a bit restless at times.” He warned him, not sure if sharing a bed would even work. Though, Scott had to understand why he was, or maybe even already know that. He had spent mostly every waking moment with him for a while now.

“I don’t know because I’ve been thinking about it and I didn’t want to keep it from her.  She knew that something was up.” He replied, sighing.  Scott leaned into Stiles.  “You’re not stupid Stiles.  You’re great.” He said, looking up at him.

“It was just a stupid thing we said when we were too young to know what it would mean.” He said trying his best to hide the fact that he had said anything and that she had gotten upset gave him a spark of hope. But he wasn’t going to going to be the cause of their break up. “I shouldn’t have even brought it up honestly.”

“I mean I know you can I just don’t know if now is the best time to revisit that.” He replied, sighing softly.  He nosed at the top of his head.  “Thank you.  I promise I will tell you soon.”  Scott assured him.  “I’m so glad you’re ok.”

Stiles just nodded and moved a little closer to him and let out a soft breath. “I’ll trust you with that. I trust you with everything honestly.” Which seemed so weird considering he couldn’t remember much of him. “Me too, even if I don’t really know half of whats going on.”

Lydia tightened her grip on his and just nodded. She didn’t agree with his thought process, but she respected Stiles enough not to push. “Okay,” she said softly. “I won’t say anything. This’ll be just between us.” She replied softly as she ran her hand down his back. “You’re welcome…I’m always here if you need me.” And that was true.

Stiles just felt himself calm, feeling exhausted. “I should probably go home.” He told her, knowing if he stayed much longer he wouldn’t make the drive home. His heart ached a little bit as he just tried to remember to breath. That that was the key here. “I’m still sorry for keeping you up.”

“Stiles…” He said, noticing the others heartbeat picking up and hearing the growl.  He placed a hand on the other and tried to get him to look at him.  “Hey it’s going to be ok.  Yeah it’s not going to be easy, but I’m right here Stiles.  I’m not going to let you do anything you’ll regret.” He said.  Scott nodded and started leading him out of the room.  “Ok just breathe.” He replied, trying to sneak him out of the hospital.

The moment Scott touched him, he seemed to calm a little, glad that even though he was angry at the other, there was still something to hold him to him. He walked with him, trying to breathe like the other told him, just feeling very off. He sighed a little bit. “Please tell me you have something other then your bike to get us home. Not feeling riding bitch style.” He mumbled under his breath, not the other would have a hard time hearing him.

Scott looked down at him confused for a moment and then looked away.  He hadn’t realized he’d let that slip.  Scott wondered if he should go ahead and tell him or if it would be too much too soon.  “Umm yeah, but it can wait.  I mean you’ve dealt with so much information already.” He pointed out, playing with the others hair. 

Stiles bit his lip but nodded his head. “You’re right, but I want you to tell me. I can handle it.” He slid a hand along Scott’s hip, fingers gliding across the flesh of his hip bone. “I trust you though, so that’s important. So we’ll wait, and you can tell me later.”

“You are an idiot.” He told him again, with a bit of a laugh, leaning against him more. Scott was just comfortable, and it was something Stiles liked about him.”Of course it’s not. I’m pretty easy to date you know. Cute, funny, a great kisser.” Stiles smirked and turned his head up to look at the other, with a grin.
