A fireworks display of coloured lights flickered around the room every time a new spell was cast. It was chaotic and without a dull moment. In fact, Amelia didn’t know where to keep her line of vision. On the one hand, she was trying to watch over her team for their safety and on the other, she was caught tracking the Nifflers and their movements. Moody’s voice rung in her head and she ended up being lost being the two, her eyes dizzily darting from person to person.
Every time one of their own was struck, Amelia felt a small sense of defeat. When Andromeda was hit, she winced. It was like a wasp repeatedly stinging its victim over and over again.
When Kingsley plummeted to the ground, she swore under her breath and pointed her wand to the spell’s castor, exclaiming, Expelliarmus. Immediately, the wand flew from the Niffler’s hands and soared onto the ground. Seconds later, she apprehended the Niffler with another spell before scrambling onto the ground to grab the free wand. Grabbing Benjy’s attention, she yelled, “Fenwick. Just in case,” and tossed the spare wand in his direction. It was a risky move considering Benjy’s current sentiment towards O’Donnell, but he needed to be able to defend himself. Besides, who knew if the wand would even be good enough.
Turning back towards Kingsley, she cast a counterspell to his binding charm, hoping he’d be back on his feet soon. She wanted to stay and check up on him but she didn’t have time to dwell as the other Nifflers were darting to grab what they could whilst still attacking the other Aurors. As accurately and as quickly as she could, Amelia fired stunning charms towards the culprits, hoping to render a few of them unconscious so they could be taken down.

As soon as the criminal came into view, she slung her binding spell at him with such vigor she surprised herself. Alice’s heart raced and a smile crossed her face. She was in it now. Exactly where she wanted to be: in the middle of the action. People were throwing punched and kicks and spells. Her fellow Aurors seemed to have the advantage for sure. However, they were now surrounded, She backed up a couple steps until she was nearly shoulder to shoulder with Amelia though she couldn’t really tell. Her spell had been shielded against so she attempted another. It was once again reflected. She muttered a foul word under her breath but didn’t dare to look around to see who was beside her.
Flashes of blue light sped past the tip of her nose, only missing by a small margin. Alice looked over and saw a shaky looking goon in one of the entryways and smirked, flinging a binding spell at him. As her first spell of the evening to actually land took effect, she mentally cheered herself on. Amelia seemed to have caught the guy she had been aiming at with a spell and she couldn’t help but hold herself with a bit more pride. As she dared a look around the room, she noticed they were doing pretty okay.
Benji seemed to be composing himself. He’d been taken care of and now could hold his own. She trusted that much. However, Kingsly didn’t seem to be doing so well. As she was taking mental note of everyone, she couldn’t get her thoughts straight. Normally, under pressure, she could function just fine. However, at the moment, she saw her friends in pain and in danger.
As she turned back to the criminal she’d cast her bonding charm onto, the room spun a bit. Thankfully, it seemed she had landed the spell the first time as he was laying on the floor in a ball and struggling. Ok, she thought. So things aren’t going terribly after all. She straightened her shoulders and made her way towards the man she’d tied up so she could help him to his feet.
