bts + make up a guy pt.2 | for @cordiallyfuturedwight
BTS Now...an (awkward)fun concept (2/2)
...continued from part 1. same disclaimer: the photos and gifs used are of course not my own, credit to their creators.
they also had to do a challenge but I can't seem to remember what it was, I guess it was again something awkward if I erased it so quickly from my mind 😅 . again...funny how they are just making so casually a photoshoot and filming at a popular landmark with lots of tourists and no one seems to know them or care. 😆 honestly...good for them! I wish they could experience this these days.
and now we go to my ABSOLUTE favourite - the third bts now, filmed in chicago and released in 2016. sorry in advance to the other tannies, but yoongi and jimin, mostly stole the show for me! this also were the photoshoots were yoongi sported 3 diff hair colours!
and it started with him sporting this amazing intense orange-reddish hair 😍.(although he kindda seemed to be in a mood to me)
all of them look amazing...
...and there's something intense whenever jungkook has blue eye contacts, but...
yoongi just takes your breath away!
for the next one they had a more casual, relaxed attire.
love taehyung's look, especially how the suspenders are styled. this is a look that I would deff wear! I really like the purple/pink highlights in his hair and his eye make-up.
jimin and jungkook are also a fave. jimin's eye make-up is deff a bold choice, and personally I'm not a fan of stones stuck to the eyelid, but he somehow, makes it work!
yoongi is just too adorbs!
and based on the many "finding neverland" posters that were just randomly in the background in the next photoshooting location, my guess is that they went for a peter pan kind of theme, here with the "lost boys" part...
a concept that doesn't suit namjoon unfortunately, some of his photos are very awkward.
here is where we have the famous jungkook voice over of "i want you!" 🤭.
and ofc the 2nd hair colour for yoongi, who got animated and out of his funk when he did the challenge with namjoon as his demon poltergeist (hilarious). jk and tae (they named their team taekook 🤣. is this the first mention?) did some weird pokemon game thing, and jimin+hobi+jin did some home alone re-enactment.
and then they did the fairy-part of the peter pan theme, which involved lots of feathers, jewels and pastel make-up.
and last but not least this photoshoot with mint yoongi. i really love this ivy league-like style they have.
jimin looks again dreamy and has another interesting eye make-up.
hope you liked it and thank you for reading this 💜.

JM & JK are telling us they are TOGETHER. We just need to LISTEN!
I just re-watched episode 7 of the Disney documentary with Jimin and Jk at his home. Jimin while talking to JK, who is now off camera but across from him, says “I want to stay healthy as I grow old, together with my fans”. He has a sweet smile on his face while looking down.
I especially loved the part where Jimin says “together with my fans I want to be happy”. JK says “that’s right”. Then he looked at JK, pointed and said “I want to be happy and I wish the same for everyone else” with a shy smile on his face. Then his #1 fan, JK said “Let’s be Happy! Jimin is still shyly smiling.
That whole conversation was meant for JK and us. If people would only listen to what they tell us, what they have been telling us for years, they would know they are together. The other messages in the past year such as the Wlives, the multiple trips last year, the support of each other’s solo debut and the release of the PTD behind the scenes and now this Disney documentary. However, the ultimate message from them was their enlistment together.
I have never been invested in the success and happiness of someone’s relationship the way I am with Jk and JM. Post military and their comeback tour, I honestly believe they will choose to live their life together, quietly, but openly.
I don’t mean to be rude; but I don’t think I’ve ever seen this, does anyone have any examples?
Supernatural
Doctor Who (Steven Moffat specifically)
Sherlock (Steven Moffat specifically)
Actually Steven Moffat is basically just this sentiment given human form.
A version of this happened with The Magicians, tbh. Though instead of expectation: men, reality: women it was expectation: smug nihilists, reality: mentally ill queer folks.
Arguably Game of Thrones.
If we broaden it outside of television…I think Star Wars falls into this, at least the sequel trilogy. Maybe the MCU as well. And I can’t help but think of every band that’s ever complained that their fanbase is mostly women. 5 Seconds of Summer comes immediately to mind.
In general, most white male creators seem to have this massively entitled mindset where they want–and think they deserve–the time, attention, and enthusiasm that creative fandom (i.e. the side of fandom more dominated by women) is known for.
They want our eyes for ratings, our word-of-mouth for free publicity, our metas for social media buzz, and our spending power for merch and cons. But they don’t want us. And they don’t really want the responsibility of telling a story to a thoughtful, engaged audience, regardless of that audience’s demographic makeup. They just want to be praised for whatever schlock they cough up.
And like any other spoiled brat, they will break their toys before they share them.
It goes all the way to the top for kids shows. Toy sales will crash a show. Makes sense, but if those toys are gendered for boys instead of the female viewers, they won’t usually switch up the marketing and move them to the girl aisle. They cancel the show outright.
Mind you it is perfectly possible to make the switch in marketing, but execs would rather throw it all out than have something that doesn’t perform well with male viewers. For example the Rey merch was not expected to be popular, for some reason, there had to be public outcry to get merch of one of the main 3 protagonists. A PROTAGONIST. The fact that she wasn’t a huge part of the 1st launch says a lot already.
And what happened when female fans got too invested in the Sequel Trilogy? The entire writers room didn’t necessarily lash out, but they sure forgot how to behave.
Young Justice
Paul Dini: Superhero cartoon execs don’t want largely female audiences
#WhereIsRey (initial)
#WhereIsRey (ongoing)
The older, male generation of 'Star Wars' fans may be losing interest in the franchise, but female fans are stepping up.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was designed to be the opposite of The Last Jedi
You’re all sitting on the hot take of the decade tbh
And yet when they fond out that boys were watching MLP:FIM in droves, they had NO PROBLEM with it.
#SONS OF ANARCHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!#LITERALLY SONS OF ANARCHY IS THE BIGGEST EXAMPLE OF THIS LIKE EVER#kurt sutter wrote that show for MEN and ended up with an overwhelmingly female audience#because he’s actually a good writer and knows how to develop characters well and wrote excellent female characters#but once he realized that his audience was almost entirely women he literally took it out on tara and gemma in the show#but like tara specifically#he resented her character for being a huge draw for female viewers so he tore her development to shreds and killed her#in the most brutal gut wrenching way possible#kurt sutter you will pay for your crimes#i actually wrote a manifesto about this on one of my old blogs i should try to find it sldkjsldfjsdljf#long post (via@m-oonknight)
OMG YES. I LOVED Sons of Anarchy, especially the women and then I got to season 6 and it was like - everything was just tossed in the trash? And like, why did Sutter hate that Tara drew tons of attention? That should have been a good thing! He should have been like “Hey folks, this girl’s getting us more viewers, let’s put her in more scenes!” It just doesn’t make sense to me. MEN don’t make sense to me.
The 100 too. I’ll never forget how Jason Rothenberg would attacked female fans on Twitter and mock them in interviews, and then post links to male fan discussions on Reddit to praise and thank them. In his goodbye letter to the show he SPECIFICALLY thanked Reddit and it was so disgusting.
Star Trek from TNG on was also a boy’s club, even though the TOS fans were mostly women. Women, in fact, who literally created modern fandom with their zines. But after TNG it was all, “Women don’t understand Star Trek, only smart men hur dur.”
I think it would be harder for us to find examples of when this DIDNT happen than when it did. It happens all the time.
Doesn’t stop it from boggling the mind
(though it could probably start to make some sense if you follow the money past audience bases to maybe a couple of investors or like a rich patron … 🤔)
Stooooop I just wrote a masters thesis on this shit. Media creation and distribution is a means by which dominant power structures consolidate their hegemony. Dominantly situated creators get upset when the audience they attract isn’t the audience they wanted, because they view the whole creation and sharing of the fiction as an exercise to sustain kyriarchal conditions that benefit themselves. When the audience is Other, they see it as a failure of those efforts and lash out.
Simply, they’re trying to assert a particular worldview via fiction, and upon getting confronted with something else, begin foot stamping. It’s not just men wanting male attention and gatekeeping. It’s that the fiction in the first place was an attempt to curate dominance and whoopsie! they miscalculated.
(anyway if anyone wants to read 35k words of philosophy about this, hmu)

Jikook Week 3 Complete ✔️ (26/12/23 - 02/01/24)
Their third week in the military is now complete and it's time to celebrate this milestone with a look back at this week in 2015.
It was the end of the year and BTS were run off their feet with the usual rush of end of year shows.
They performed at the SBS Award show on the 29th December......
......and at the KBS Song Festival on the 30th December. Big Hit's Twitter praised Jimin's solo dance break and JK's duet with Zion T. In Jimin's Twitter post he hoped people had enjoyed the performance.
This beloved jikook clip was taken back stage at this show.
On the 31st, while performing at the MBC Music Festival, they recorded their New Year messages for ARMY. Jimin was thankful for all the wonderful memories they had made that year and Jungkook was excited that he was finally going to be 20. He was anxious to be of age and looking forward to showing ARMY how manly he would become. Hmmmmmmm!
The MBC Music Festival show also produced this amazing performance of Perfect Man.
Notice Namjoon isn't on stage with them. He fell off a ramp the day before and was told to rest. Jimin commented on it in his end of year message.
Jimin and Jungkook ended 2015 together doing what they love and jikooking like crazy.

when stray kids in 2 kids room said “i hope you won’t make yourself unhappy in order to make others happy, that’s my biggest wish” and when they said “when i think about you, i feel like i have another reason to live” and when they said “i’m not afraid to do anything when you’re with me” and when they said “they’re like twins, like real brothers” and when they said “so that’s what you think of me” “what do you even know?” and when they said “you’re weird” “no i’m not” “i like weird” and when they said “i was really tired yesterday” “yeah i joked around a lot to make you laugh” “you did that for me?” and when they said “don’t bottle things up, i’m always here to listen, you can tell me if you need an ear” and when they said "regardless of our friendship, you are someone i want to learn from" and when they said “you have the power to heal other people’s wounds with just a few words” and when they said “i listen to everyone, but i listen to you the most" and when they said “you’re my parents’ favorite” and when they said “thank you so much for protecting us, it’s not an easy thing to do” and when they said “because of you i am who i am” and when they said-
iu: you are the BEST producer of our age yg: I won't deny the truth
You don't need a degree in engineering to know & see how important Jimin and Jk are to each other. They were so emotional that I felt through the video how much was a difficult moment for them, again, I am glad that they have eachother.
[ all the credit @ homeiskm on twt follow them !!]
if you're unfamiliar, anton is a korean to english translator who actually did the english translation for bts' book beyond the story. from what i understand, he has been on pretty good terms with army since and has not fallen into any of the traps a lot of other people who find themselves in the army spotlight usually do? but feel free to correct me if i'm wrong. though, even if i am, i don't think it detracts from his statements above.
i felt the need to highlight this opinion over here because i maintain the (unpopular, i guess?) position of if you're not being radicalized by this experience even just a little bit, then you need to widen your overall focus.
i do not want to be the bearer of only doom and gloom and please cope as you see fit within reason, but i have seen enough romantic takes on this whole situation that i kind of wish i could shake a few people.
the risk level here for the boys isn't zero. what happened to seokjin already proved that. all of them being strong both physically and mentally doesn't negate people's valid concern for their well being. it is not a lack of confidence in them or some form of "coddling grown men" to express distress over a situation that can go sideways at a moment's notice.
if you don't believe me, by all means, don't take my word for it and go find your own sources, that is something i will always encourage. but here's a freebie for you to start with.
Please love me is Jimin's line today
The hardest few seconds for me to watch, were these...
Jimin was absolutely dreading appearing in screen without his trademark beautiful hair.
We know he left it as late as he could and didn't want to show anyone.
He looked like he was barely holding it together when he called attention to his hair being shaved. He must have genuinely been scared of the reaction he would get, even from Kook.
"It looks good on you"
Jungkook, you absolute fucking LEGEND 💜
He knew exactly what to say.
When Jungkook told Jimin he looked good (even with no hair) Jimin turned his face away <those feels choking him up> and when he turned back, the almost desperate look of gratitude mixed with relief was so clear.
Please love me is Jimin's line today.
This is not about vanity, ego or pride.
It brings home how fragile his confidence is. His need for approval and the assurance of being loved is strong. It’s so heartbreaking, but we know he hasn't had an easy road.**
Thankfully he did stand a little bit taller once JK reassured him...
But it wasn't an easy moment for Jungkook either.
Whether because he had to witness Jimin's fear and could do nothing more than pet his head, or because he was facing his own misgivings (probably both) he looked equally lost in that moment.
Remember that these boys have left their home once before and journeyed to a place that was less than welcoming. They've had to face the grim, disproving faces of unkind critics and a system that didn't support or value them.
I don't doubt there were echoes of that feeling on this day, that same sense of trepidation they've known before.
We know how the military treats men like them.
And then...
we got this:
You can take the boy out of Busan but you can't take Busan out of the boy.
(People say this about my home town too...)
The shadow of fear is still there in his eyes but.... he looks like a (very hot) backstreet thug who will absolutely fuck you up no questions asked.
It does occur to me that MS might be the reason Jimin has been learning to fight.
I mean really learning to fight.
Yes he's probably doing boxing too but i suspect something more than that ... you shouldn't get torn knuckles from boxing lessons unless you aren't wrapping your hands properly, just saying.
<Gotta love a person who can hold you and cradle your head, and also knock down an opponent whwn they have to.>
If all else fails (words before fists, right?) I hope he can handle himself.
If he must defend himself, and someone (not him) looks like they've had a close encounter with his fists, I saw nothing.
I hope for both of them, their background will serve them well. In any case they will support one another and their love will see them through this. It's exactly why they are enlisting as companions.
🐰🐥
This is no easy journey, for these young men (all seven of them) or for their families, their friends, and their loved ones. Yes, it's reality of life for every person in Korea, but that doesn't make it easier when it's YOU or YOUR person who is going away.
I am seeing them off with an in ache in my chest - I know we all are. But I'm toasting their successful military service, and their quick return.
짠 지민아, 정국이! We love you 💜💛
See you soon, Angels.
** 'Hurry up and be me soon' ...
Some of us know how much it costs to put our authentic self out into the world. The sacrifices you have to be willing to make are huge. You're not only exposing your own vulnerabilities, but the flow on effect for your family and friends is real.
<talking specifically about Jimin here... how many times do you think his parents will have to say 'no, Jimin doesnt have a girlfriend, and no he isn't looking for one... No he doesn't plan to marry'.>
It's a long journey to self love and acceptance...
We know Jimin has been through a number of iterations of himself. He's been through the tough guy phase, the closed book, the siren, aloof and sophisticated, and the gently feminine.
The image he presents to the world is as much a construct as any person's is - and whether you're aware of this or not, all our public selves are social constructs.
"One size does not fit all" for queer people
For cis gendered heterosexual people, society has a few different ready-made constructs you can adopt, and the rest of society automatically understands the message you're sending. Most of them maintain the status quo of heterosexual cultural norms.
For anyone who DOESNT fit those norms, it's honestly never going to feel good expressing an image that isnt really you. Its like trying and make your circle self fit in a square box.
But theres nothing else that's readily available...
You really have to construct your public image from scratch.
When you aren't part of that typical demographic, figuring out how you want to be seen by the world can be an arduous and complex process.
How much do you reveal? How much do you risk?
You'll experiment with styles, behaviours, and social groups until you find a safe space you can occupy.
Jimin's safe space is with ARMY or his members, but it requires looking perfect.
Think about Jimin's hesitance to appear on camera without makeup. How carefully he chooses his clothes - whether for airport appearances, stage performance or out on the street. He usually has a team of people making sure he looks perfect. His hair is a trademark feature. It's always beautiful.
Remember that he's used to EVERYONE LOOKING AT HIM, ALL THE TIME.
Imagine how it feels to go out in public - against your will - with a shaved head.
Without hair, he would have surely felt naked. Plus, he's no longer in the safe embrace of ARMY, and his buffer of security and managers keeping him out of danger is gone.
He's immensely famous, but not universally loved (don't even go there) and bald, and small, and an IDOL, and very gay ... lets go with very unlikely to be heterosexual.
No wonder he was feeling vulnerable.
Ngl, it broke my heart to see him so afraid but I'm sure he'll have a substantial group of supporters around him. I can only hope.
💜💛
