Yoshika watched as an odd creature floated into her graveyard, and popped out of the ground, hoping to surprise her. "Hello!"
“Oh! A jiang-shi?”
“Hello,” Kokoro answered and thought looking at Yoshika entirely, “She seems to be interesting…”
“Wow, got it on the first try!” Ysohika smiled. “So who are you? My name’s Yoshika.” She really wanted to ask what the girl is, but that seemed rude.
“I am Hata-no Kokoro.”
“What are you doing here?”
“I live here! I watch over the graveyard. So what are you doing here?” It was a bit of repetitive answer, but she had to ask.
“I’m just going to Myoren Temple. There will be a lesson soon.”
“Oh, okay. Lesson in what?” She wasn’t aware there was classes, but then she didn’t know much about temples.
“It’s about how to control emotions.
Byakuren-mama’s lessons are always useful !”
“Oh, wow! That sounds neat! And Miss Byakuren’s your mom?” Yoshika did think their hair looked vaguely the same shape, but that was about where the similarities ended.
“Byakuren-mama isn’t really my mom, but I really like calling her like this, because she is very kind to me.”
“Who made you watch over the graveyard?”
“My Master! She… isn’t like a mom.” She frowned at that, and seemed to decide that summed up Seiga pretty well. “Not that I mind guarding, I like my job!”
“Seems you are the first person who likes their job!”
“Huh? Really? The first?” Yoshika frowned. “Don’t other people like their jobs too? I know not everyone, but...”
That didn’t really answer the question, but Yoshika was too happy to press the matter. “Mmm… which one…”
“Take your time, dear. …though it’ll probably be a little redundant to pick the zombie costume hanging right in the middle.”
“W-Well... which do you think I should pick, Master?”
Yoshika stared in surprise at them all, wondering what to wear. “So many… where’d you get them all Master?”
“Oh, I have my methods…” Theft, mostly.
That didn’t really answer the question, but Yoshika was too happy to press the matter. “Mmm... which one...”

“Yay!” Yoshika looked positively ecstatic. “Let me see, Master!”
Quick scene change later…
“Over here! There’s an outfit for everyone in Senkai, quite a few from other people in Gensokyo, a bunnysuit and maid outfit in one…” She’s still listing different kinds of outfits.
Yoshika stared in surprise at them all, wondering what to wear. “So many... where’d you get them all Master?”
“Wow! I wanna dress up too!”
“Oh, I figured you would. That’s why I have several costumes for you to try!”
“Yay!” Yoshika looked positively ecstatic. “Let me see, Master!”
“Wow… so does that mean we dress up, Master?”
She seemed excited at the prospect.
“Yep!” Seiga how’d you get into costume so quickly?
“Wow! I wanna dress up too!”
“Oh, right! Of course you have things under control, Master!” Privately, Yoshika wondered if the other Seiga could try her the same way… if she knew where she had been going… but she never seemed to care what she did, so why would she start now?
So busy Yoshika was, worrying, that she almost didn’t catch that last sentence. “Huh? What’s Halloween, Master?”
“That’s a very good question. Halloween, back in the ancient days of my time, was a rather exciting and risque holiday. It was a festivity of taunting the creatures of the dead and the damned with supposedly easy prey only for them to find themselves getting kicked in the face by a villager’s fist. It was a wonderful time, and a particularly famous moment occurred when somebody fist-kicked a will-o’-the-wisp so hard that their head flew clean off - and far enough for that head to land in someone else’s decorations.”
“This explains all the jack-o-lanterns you see around you today.”
“As for today, now it’s devolved into little more than an excuse to dress like someone else and eat candy until you have type two diabetes.”
“And by ‘you’, I mean people who can actually get type two diabetes, unlike us.”
“Wow... so does that mean we dress up, Master?”
She seemed excited at the prospect.
“Nowhere? You don’t think something happened to her, do you?” Yoshika looks a little concerned. The idea that she could get hurt, seriously hurt, was very unlikely… but possible.
“Of course not, darling! She’s just fine. I’m able to track her with my own methods, so there’s no secret as to where she actually is. What I meant to say was that she’s pretty busy doing some hard work, and it’s fairly hard to interrupt her while she’s in the middle of it.”
“Halloween’s coming up, after all.”
“Oh, right! Of course you have things under control, Master!” Privately, Yoshika wondered if the other Seiga could try her the same way... if she knew where she had been going... but she never seemed to care what she did, so why would she start now?
So busy Yoshika was, worrying, that she almost didn’t catch that last sentence. “Huh? What’s Halloween, Master?”
“That’s right Master!” She hugs Seiga to the best of her ability.
The Jiang Shi fairies giggle, but Yoshika ignores them.
“There’s a good girl. My goodness, I’d love to let you chat with my own Yoshika again, but it looks like she’s nowhere to be found!”
“Nowhere? You don’t think something happened to her, do you?” Yoshika looks a little concerned. The idea that she could get hurt, seriously hurt, was very unlikely... but possible.

“Your badge? Where’d it go?“ The Jiang Shi looked down. “I can’t bend down too well, but I can see it!”
Haruhi froze. Shit. She knew she should have chosen a less bite-in-the-ass-worthy lie.
“…Huh? Oh, uh….” she began. “I… don’t know where it went.”
“Oh... well we’d better look for it!” Yoshika smiled and looks around helpfully.

“Saw what?” Yoshika floated closer to examine the girl.
“Bwah!” Haruhi cried. After a second, she realized that the other girl’s words implied that she hadn’t seen it.
“Oh, uh, nothing special, just my, ah, badge popping off…”
“Your badge? Where’d it go?“ The Jiang Shi looked down. “I can’t bend down too well, but I can see it!”
Yoshika was floating a bit over the graveyard, high enough that everything below looked rather like specks. But after all this floating she was starting to get hungry, and as she floated down she saw something that looked rather like a giant eggplant. Nothing thinking of it more than that, she swiftly flew down to snatch up the huge vegetable and curb her hunger!
Abruptly a pair of arms emerge from the ‘eggplant’ as if it were liquid and punch Yoshika in the stomach! Then a head of blue hair emerges and-
“Yoshika!?!” The umbrella looks up confused.
Yoshika hummed happily as the food went down. “Oh no, it’s fine! I couldn’t do that to ya, Kogasa. So umm… how ya been?”
“Um, pretty good I guess. I’m living with miss Keine now! She’s my owner! I help her with the school and everything.” Kogasa hops up on a gravestone and starts to kick her feet absentmindedly.
“Really? That’s great!” Yoshika certainly understood how that might feel- her meetings with the nice version of Seiga made her happier than anything. “I’m really happy for you!” She moved a bit closer, her arms bending into a hug as best they cloud. Kogasa’s body heat helped considerably.
A small doubting part of her wondered if that meant Kogasa had stopped looking for that other hermit she said she’d find... if she’d given up on Yoshika. But it was easily brushed aside for now. Her own happiness for her friend and Kogasa’s warmth made sure of that.

Haruhi found that her magic reserves were abysmally low. Like any sensible android, she decided to recharge- she didn’t want to go into stasis, after all.
She completely forgot that instant recharges came with bright flashes of light.
“Aw, nuts… I really hope nobody saw that…”
“Saw what?” Yoshika floated closer to examine the girl.

“Ah, no! I’ll go get you something, wait right here!” Before Yoshika could object, Kogasa was running back to the village- but she was back with two bowls of ramen in her hands moments later, uncaring of the heat. But she slowed down just moments later, realizing something.
“Wait, you can’t eat ramen with those arms of yours!”
“I’ll just feed you! Say ah!”
Yoshika blinked, blushing slightly. Luckily, being blueish, that was hard to spot unless you are really looking. “T-Thanks. Ahh!” She opens her mouth.
Kogasa makes a little game of it, tossing bits of noodle and meat into the waiting maw of the Jiang-shi, and cheering whenever she moved to catch a bit. Of course, a bit of it ended up on the ground, but that didn’t really matter to her!
“Do you want mine too?” Kogasa asks, after pouring the broth down Yoshika’s throat.
Yoshika hummed happily as the food went down. “Oh no, it’s fine! I couldn’t do that to ya, Kogasa. So umm... how ya been?”
This was a sort of familiar face. Yoshika floated over to the tiger cautiously. They were supposed to be enemies after all. "Hello!"
“…Hello,” Shou says, looking her over calmly. It talks? Truth be told she’s never held much ill will for Yoshika. Pity and wariness maybe, but it’s not like she can help how she is.
This one seemed to be cautious too. Well, time to break the ice! “I know we’re like on opposite sides or something, but neither of our masters are here now, right? I’m Yoshika, what’s your name?” The Jiang Shi gave one of her best smiles.
Well… She supposed it couldn’t hurt. She and the Prince were on better terms these days, and like she’d said, it wasn’t like anyone was around to see them. “Shou Toramaru,” the tigress replied, tilting her head at the odd undead girl.
“Normally you keep to yourself… What brings you over in my direction today?”
“Shou’s a nice name! And I as just floating around. I like to wander a bit when I’m bored. Besides, the others watch when I’m gone, so its okay.”
