QR codes in Express' latest direct mail piece allow recipients to shop for featured items via mobile. Consumers are also invited to join a loyalty campaign by opting in to the retailer's SMS program. "QR codes allow us to bring this traditional medium to life in a new way by engaging customers with video, offering our loyalty program or creating contests and promotions," said Jim Wright, Express senior vice president of marketing.
Most visits influenced by online marketing are to QSRs, casual dining gets a disproportionate share, according to NPD’s CREST survey. It finds that while casual dining accounts for one in 10 restaurant visits, it is the destination for one in six visits prodded by online marketing.
