Book Review | The Bingo Theory

When I first learned that Mimi Ikonn was writing The Bingo Theory I began counting down the days until I could read it. I have followed Mimi and Alex on YouTube for several years now and am always inspired and empowered by their videos and the love they share. I have always been curious as to what is the secret of their successful relationship and I hoped that The Bingo Theory would hold all the answers to how to have a relationship as seemingly perfect as theirs.

 The Bingo Theory is a book about how to find and balance your Masculine and Feminine Strength energies to have a happy, loving and connected life. It turns out I am a Feminine Strength female which surprised me. I thought I was surely Masculine Strength dominant. The results from the evaluation were a close call and while I am slightly more Feminine I am fairly balanced.

 Overall, I really enjoyed this read. It is short and sweet. I really love that Mimi wrote it herself and it is very much in her voice. If you have watched her videos you could tell. What I appreciated the most was the conclusion where Mimi really pulls everything together and dives into a deeper meaning and purpose behind her work. This is her heart and her passion and she is sharing it with the world by bringing her Feminine Strength into the book. The “Beyond You” section is the greatest part of the book. It is really the heart of the book.

 I also appreciated the bonus section about the Bingo Career as I have done exactly that myself-chosen a career in which my weaker energy can grow and strengthen. I believe it is very true and necessary.

 This book is a Theory. It is not fact. It is Mimi’s research and what she believes based on personal experience. One area of opportunity that could’ve strengthened the Bingo Theory is if there had been more research and scientific studies included to support her points.

 I look forward to reading more books from Mimi and would love to read one on her and Alex’s relationship specifically and their experiences as a married couple.

On Finding Meaning and Purpose | Making a Connection

I have recently been challenged to find meaning in my job. Sometimes that can be difficult when I work "in sales". It often seems that in the sales business we do a lot of superficial stuff- give  gifts, go for lunches and happy hours with clients, go to endless networking events always with the intention of bringing in new business. At the end of the day I sometimes question whether what I am doing has any meaning and whether it is making a difference in the world. Two things that mean a lot to me. When I started my "sales" job I knew I would have to network a lot. A word that TERRIFIES my INTJ, Introverted, Virgo self. Last month I attended a networking event hosted by a large local newspaper and loved it so much (shockingly) that I decided to attend it again this month. There was a very special guest at the event whom I had the honor of meeting that changed my perspective on the meaning of my so-called "sales" job. 

Martin Greenfield. Known as America's greatest tailor. He is also an Auschwitz survivor. This incredible man lost his entire family in the concentration camp and when American soldiers liberated him from the horror he was living in his life changed forever. He came to America at 19 and started working in a clothing factory which he later bought. He has tailored suits for Eisenhower and many other presidents and celebrities. I had the privilege of hearing this man's story and he shared his inspiration and encouragement. I took a picture with him and he even kissed me on the cheek! He was so GENUINE and KIND. An ordinary person such as myself had the honor of connecting with an extraordinary person such as Martin. It made me realize that what matters MOST is connecting with each other. As a "sales person" I have so many opportunities to make connections with so many people. That is an extraordinary thing and I am more grateful now more than ever for the job and the opportunities that I have. 

If you have never heard of Martin Greenfield I would highly encourage you research him and read his book.
