I am, just not as excited. Halloween is going to come and go within the month, but Quidditch lasts all year for a reason. We’re a smart bunch. The rest of the castle should definitely follow our lead.

We’re definitely gonna disagree on that, Miss Emma. As much as I do love Halloween I can’t imagine much that I love more than Quidditch. It’s a topic I can talk about for hours, and unless we get into the history of it Halloween only interests me for twenty minutes max.

Yes, oh my god. That’s what it was. I just saw that it was green. When’s the last time we even had broccoli at dinner? Is personal hygiene not a thing anymore?

It was at least a few days ago. They must be majorly slacking because it’s such a constant thing that a toothbrush must not exist for them. There are cleaning charms for that even if he didn’t want to go the Muggle stick route, so I really don’t know what’s wrong with the guy.

If you’d been in a coma, even a sugar-induced one, I doubt you’d have such a clear recollection of what you spent all week doing and who you spent it with.

I wasn’t being literal, mate, just a term I’ve heard used a few times to describe the drowsy, out-of-it state you get in when you crash from a sugar high. Lesson learned, though. Gotta up my tolerance levels because cutting it out entirely just isn’t an option.

Halloween is boring and so are masquerades. Focusing on Quidditch is much more logical.

The masquerade is gonna be a blast, but the whole ‘masked and mysterious’ thing means talking about it beforehand is a no go, so it’s kind of a dead end conversation starter. Who doesn’t love Quidditch? I know people who’d rather talk about holidays than Quidditch exist, but they’re clearly misguided. Especially with the player line-up this year.

Dude, I’m hoping we can be even half as good as we were with Finn as our leader; then we’d be in really good shape. But don’t worry, dude, I promise we’ll keep things interesting for you.

I saw him vouching for you; Finn wouldn’t have done that if he didn’t think you’d be just as capable as he was. Are you excited about the line-up? It’s going to be so much fun going against worthy adversaries. How’s the saying go? “I’d rather lose to a solid opponent than win to someone easy.” (Not that Hufflepuff’s gonna beat us, Gryffindor has that in the bag!)

I’m uncertain, that’s what. Stuck in this castle, I don’t get to hear or know very much. I can’t actively seek out information myself. Everything’s from the Internet or from letters. I don’t have anything that isn’t a gut feeling and if we’re going with that … I think there’s a storm coming. Not saying Voldemort level of things but we’re probably going to see blood.

PM: You can actively seek the information out on breaks at least, and if you have any friends your age out in society who would potentially have information. Using resources might be your best bet but at least the castle’s the safest place to be attempting to find out more. You think... you think people are going to die because of the Brotherhood? That’s terrifying... not surprising, considering the World Cup, but... Terrifying to think things aren’t as safe as we thought they were.

I don’t know. Only me and Lucy have dreamed about alternate universe Lily so far. What if we all have our own universes and we’re slowly colliding with parallel universes now? Like what if this Hugo universe is colliding with alternate Hugo universe where Voldelily is important? And @everydayimhufflelynn universe is colliding with @everynightimhufflelynn  universe. Soon, we’ll have multiple versions of people running around causing chaos in our universe.

If we’re colliding with parallel universes then someone should probably clue our professors in so Voldelily doesn’t lead to real Lily getting terrible grades, evil!Ryder doesn’t try to make Frog Choir his evil minions, or you know, to alternate universe Hugo who can’t tame dragons burning the school down. Though... it is kind of cool to see what you could’ve been if only a few key points in your life changed....

I’ve actually been thinking of some kind of idea like that, actually – it started with Amelia and I wanting to have poetry workshops, then expanded to a whole poetry club when I talked to Aubs about it, and now it’s a tentative book club that I’ve just been too busy to really move forward with. It could be a monthly thing where we get together on Sundays at the end of the month and discuss?

What sort of poetry were you looking at including? Once a month seems pretty doable. Even during the busiest holiday months everyone’s able to sneak away at least once, and we can mix up what’s discussed so everyone has something in their interest set that they can wax eloquent about, for lack of a better term, even if they can’t get into anything else.

I could pull off blonde, but nobody would know. Unless they do some grand reveal thing at the end. You could… Put an ‘idea bowl’ in the common room? That way you get ideas, but the whole house has access so nobody could guess who was who. You’d just have to put up with some people putting in disturbing ‘joke’ ideas.

Wouldn’t a grand reveal be... I would say counterproductive, but that all depends on the meaning behind the choice to be masked. Personally it sounds like a good way to amp up the event. The joke ideas couldn’t possibly be as bad as some of the serious costumes the younger years were discussing. Does good taste not come until later in life?

PM: Done and done. It wouldn’t do you well to eat nothing but sugar for dinner. Nice and caring... as sweet as it is, sometimes you just need... more than that? You need someone who’ll challenge you, and drive you crazy and then fix it instantly, someone who can meet that glitter covered spark inside of you and match it. The most necessary things are rarely easy, but in the long run... it is worth it. (Mmm I beg to differ, but for your sake I’ll behave.)

Snakes and I are terrible adversaries but for the sake of an honorable ceremony fit for a Lysander I suppose I can find one. Classy is the number one goal and if you don’t try and reach it you’re being judged. Only on occasion. Hugo’s far more confusing. That would be me, Agent Clarington at your service. No? You do need the bad to make the good worthwhile, but at the same time if you focus on the negative all the time you end up just going through the motions.
